Book excerpt: The 18th century was a wealth of knowledge, exploration and rapidly growing technology and expanding record-keeping made possible by advances in the printing press. In its determination to preserve the century of revolution, Gale initiated a revolution of its own: digitization of epic proportions to preserve these invaluable works in the largest archive of its kind. Now for the first time these high-quality digital copies of original 18th century manuscripts are available in print, making them highly accessible to libraries, undergraduate students, and independent scholars. The Age of Enlightenment profoundly enriched religious and philosophical understanding and continues to influence present-day thinking. Works collected here include masterpieces by David Hume, Immanuel Kant, and Jean-Jacques Rousseau, as well as religious sermons and moral debates on the issues of the day, such as the slave trade. The Age of Reason saw conflict between Protestantism and Catholicism transformed into one between faith and logic -- a debate that continues in the twenty-first century. ++++ The below data was compiled from various identification fields in the bibliographic record of this title. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Believers know that when we die we enter heaven and will spend eternity there with God and the saints who have gone before us. But what actually happens in heaven? What are we going to be doing there? Won't it get boring at some point? According to Scripture, a large part of our experience of heaven will be a continual revealing of God's glory. Not just his glory in the moment, but during all of time. The mysteries of providence, the hidden movements of God throughout history, and the forgotten and unnoted works of even the most obscure of God's people will be unveiled so that we can see how wise, loving, gracious, and powerful our God is. And though we will experience perfection in heaven, we will never be omniscient, which means we will always be learning more about God's glory, inspiring us to return joyful praise and thanksgiving. If your vision of heaven has been limited to clouds and harps and angels, it's time to expand that view with the truth found in this biblically based look at the afterlife.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Ministry of God For All People Since early days of 21st Century, I have desired to write a book about 21st Century Ministry. I am glad this book on the ministry of God is out and you are holding it in your hands. This book is a ministry tool for the service of God. Everything God does is by his Holy Spirit, his power and the gospel. The Holy Spirit touches people by His presence and power. In 21st Century Ministry, like the days of Jesus Christ and the apostles (1st Century) people need to know the Holy Spirit and the word of God. The world today, need to see the Holy Spirit at work and hear the word of God. If you read the books of Luke and Acts of apostles by Luke, you will see the ministry of Jesus Christ and apostles was successful and effective because of the Holy Spirit and the word of God to the people. The 21st Century is special time for the ministry of God to the people. In 21st Century Ministry, you will realize five points for the ministry of God to the people of the world, in the day that we are living. Ministry Source: Jesus Christ is the source of the ministry. Ministry and Church: people must find ministry in the church. A to Z of the Ministry of God: these are ministry insights in alphabetical order. Ministry Reference: all key terms to do with ministry are explained from Bible. How to minister to a person: you will learn divine ways to minister to a person. In 21st Century: it is the ministry of God that works and strategic for today. Ministry is real. In reading 21st Century Ministry book, you will agree the ministry of God brings results. God always start ministry and do it to any generation and culture by Jesus Christ, and his grace. Also in reading 21st Century Ministry, you will agree many servants and ministers of God were used for his glory. For example, men like Moses, Samuel, Elijah, Peter, Paul, Silas, and Apollos were all called, empowered and used by God in a special way. And today, God wants to use you. In 21st Century, the time has come to serve God and minister to people by the Holy Spirit and the word. In this present world both sinners and saints need the ministry of the Holy Spirit and the word of God. I have written this book: 21st Century Ministry, so that the people of the world may know God and his ministry. No man, angel or a thing is the source of the ministry but the Lord Jesus Christ.

Book Rome After Rome

Download or read book Rome After Rome written by Joel Sternfeld and published by Steidl. This book was released on 2019-04 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In his 1992 book Campagna Romana. The Countryside of Ancient Rome Joel Sternfeld focused on the ruins of grand structures with a clear warning: great civilizations fall, ours may too. Now in Rome after Rome, containing images from the previous book as well as numerous unpublished pictures, Sternfeld's questions multiply: who are these modern Romans? What is their relationship to the splendor that was? What is the nature of sullied modernity in relation to the Arcadian ideal? Is there, at this late moment, any chance for Utopia? The Campagna, the countryside south and east of Rome occupies a special place in Roman--and human history. With the rise of Ancient Rome, this once polluted, malarial landscape was restored by emperors and thrived with some 20 towns and numerous wealthy villas on the rolling plains among the mighty aqueducts that fed water to Rome. After the city fell, the Campagna once again became desolate and dangerous. The gloomy tombs, broken homes and aqueducts sat in a kind of no man's land for over 1,000 years. To this landscape came the painters: Dürer, Lorrain, Poussin, and later, Corot, Turner, and Americans such as Thomas Cole. In the ruins they sought the origins of Rome's greatness and the meaning of her fall. Later they depicted a place where Roman gods cavorted and mankind lived in a golden age, an Arcadia. Central Rome was rebuilt with Baroque apartments hiding the past: in the Campagna the past was visible and all imaginings possible. Sternfeld juxtaposes the ruins of a powerful, ancient civilization with the new construction and the debris of our own time. Avoiding obvious contrasts, eschewing heavy-handed irony, this contemporary artist draws our attention to both despoliation and lasting beauty; he suggests many reasons for despair, yet he also has something to say about the nobility of the human spirit. Theodore E. Stebbins Jr.
