Download or read book Wandering Among the Stars written by Wirton Arvel and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2015-07-05 with total page 218 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The motivational journey of a poet among his walking words, a tale written in prose with many poems and inspirational quotes. 'Wandering among the stars' tells the love story between the protagonist and life. A story where poetry and prose are intertwined like soul and body, to bring this love story to life so the reader can live it. So it's not about a collection of poems, least of all a story in verse. Maybe it could be described as a book of 'narrated poems' or as a 'literary musical'; actually it represents a narrative experiment that lies somewhere between a meta-novel, a collection of poems and an essay; its main aim is to encourage those readers that usually prefer to read only prose works to read poetry as well. (Do you want to try?) As a poetry anthology it includes chapters about love, the cosmos, death, spirituality and poetry itself. Italian edition of this book has been a hit and has remained for more than twelve consecutive months among the bestsellers of its category in the Italian Kindle Store. ( http://smarturl.it/stelle ) - 'Wonderful book! Wirton Arvel is the new Gibran' Mark J. - 'Poetry is the sound track of our soul; this book tells why' Josh Russell - 'It's like a never ending story singing the song of universe to our soul' Liz Baum - 'Very inspirational biography, for all 'active dreamers' and life lovers' Brandon Dyer - 'This book is like nothing I have ever read before' David H. Birley - 'Reading the book, you become a part of something bigger than yourself' Uvi Poznansky - 'An interesting sensory experience" Dennis Waller - 'Simply beautiful. A treasure for anyone who loves poems' Ionia Martin - 'A book for lovers of words' Scarlett Jensen - ''Impudent stillness' (one of the poems) is a jewel of combination of words and ideas' Jean Pailler - 'This book cannot be summarized - that would tarnish its beauty of wholeness' Grady Harp Grab the free Kindle preview ("send sample" button) and give it a try! Book excerpt: "Deserves a spot next to Fast Food Nation and To Kill a Mockingbird in America’s high school curriculums. To say it may save lives is self-evident.” —New York Times Book Review (Editor's Choice) NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • A BEST BOOK OF THE YEAR: San Francisco Chronicle, Chrisitian Science Monitor, Kirkus, Winnipeg Free Press One of the decade's most original and masterfully reported books, A Deadly Wandering by Pulitzer Prize–winning New York Times journalist Matt Richtel interweaves the cutting-edge science of attention with the tensely plotted story of a mysterious car accident and its aftermath to answer some of the defining questions of our time: What is technology doing to us? Can our minds keep up with the pace of change? How can we find balance? On the last day of summer, an ordinary Utah college student named Reggie Shaw fatally struck two rocket scientists while texting and driving along a majestic stretch of highway bordering the Rocky Mountains. A Deadly Wandering follows Reggie from the moment of the tragedy, through the police investigation, the state's groundbreaking prosecution, and ultimately, Reggie's wrenching admission of responsibility. Richtel parallels Reggie's journey with leading-edge scientific findings on the impact technology has on our brains, showing how these devices play to our deepest social instincts. A propulsive read filled with surprising scientific detail, riveting narrative tension, and rare emotional depth, A Deadly Wandering is a book that can change—and save—lives.

Book Wandering In Literature a Mere Word

Download or read book Wandering In Literature a Mere Word written by Julian Scutts and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2016-02-15 with total page 284 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book does not find its starting point in a theory but in the recognition that the word "Wanderer," and other forms based on the common root of the verbs to "wander" and "wandern," recur with conspicuous frequency in the writings of Goethe and English Romantic poets such as William Wordsworth and Lord Byron. A notable scholar, Professor L. A. Willoughby sought an explanation for this phenomnon in Carl G. Jung's theory of the unconscious but Willoughby's sole ambit of reference was what he termed "Goethe's poetry." This restriction could not allow the scope necessary for the study of the collective aspect of the mind's power and influence. This study poses the attempt to widen the survey of "wandering" to a comparison of texts found in a wide variety of authors including Milton, Shakespeare and William Blake.

Book excerpt: You meant more than life to me. I lived through you not knowing, not knowing I was living. I learned that you called for me. I came to where you were living, up a stair. There was no one there. No one to appreciate me. The legality of it upset a chair. Many times to celebrate we were called together and where we had been there was nothing there, nothing that is anywhere. We passed obliquely, leaving no stare. When the sun was done muttering, in an optimistic way, it was time to leave that there. -- from "The New Higher"

In this book of poems Diaz considers the divine embedded within reality and takes the reader through personal loss, theological reflection, and the seemingly mundane. Each poem balances faith and doubt, joy and sorrow, and leaves one with a sense that the world is far more fantastical than we give it credit. Diaz’s poetic output is diverse and varied, written in poignant free verse, lyric, and ballad poetry. For Those Wandering Along the Way invites us to take up a sacramental vision of the world and, in turn, helps us long for our true home.

Book The Wandering Mind

  • ISBN : 022623861X
  • Pages : 184 pages

Download or read book The Wandering Mind written by Michael C. Corballis and published by University of Chicago Press. This book was released on 2015-04-15 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Corballis argues that mind-wandering has many constructive and adaptive features. These range from mental time travel?the wandering back and forth through time, not only to plan our futures based on past experience, but also to generate a continuous sense of who we are--to the ability to inhabit the minds of others, increasing empathy and social understanding. Through mind-wandering, we invent, tell stories, and expand our mental horizons. Mind wandering , hardly the sign of a faulty network or aimless distraction, actually underwrites creativity, whether as a Wordsworth wandering lonely as a cloud, or an Einstein imagining himself travelling on a beam of light. Corballis takes readers on a mental journey in chapters that can be savored piecemeal, as the minds of readers wander in different ways, and sometimes have limited attentional capacity.
