Download or read book Weapons Of Our Warfare written by Ed Delfin and published by Eagle Rise Publishing. This book was released on 2021-05-17 with total page 370 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dan Bautista thought that moving to the California Coast meant an easy life and endless summers. He believed the power of the Gospels conquered all because he'd never seen the fearsome transformative power of raw violence. He thought joining the police force would bring peace to his life and justice to his community. Nothing happened as planned. He couldn't have imagined what did happen. Weapons of Our Warfare reveals the inconvenience of knowing people. Really knowing them. It's about the beautiful complexity we find in every encounter we give a chance to mature. The riddle of violence and the need sometimes to do evil for the ultimate good, is revealed in this story inspired by real people the author has come to know and love. These are real people whose actions go far beyond the typical stereotypes, into the realm of heroism, and insensate evil, often within the same person. Pastors, street cops, investigators, drug dealers, informants, and murderers. Bad guys and good guys wrapped in one skin. People who've taken a stance, and find others on the same side of their line, unsure how they got there, even less sure how others they love got on the other side. And through it all, the worst brings out the best they have. The best any of us ever have. ABOUT THE AUTHOR Born in Kalibo, Aklan, Philippines, Ed Delfin moved to America as a teenager. He has been a law enforcement professional for almost twenty years. Ed has extensive experience in narcotics interdiction, gang investigations, and cold-case homicides. Currently, he is an Inspector with the Santa Cruz County District Attorney's Office. Ed has a degree in business, a master's degree in legal studies from Monterey College of Law, and a graduate of the FBI National Academy. A licensed minister with the Assemblies of God, Ed married his college sweetheart. They live in the heart of California's Central Coast with their two children.

Book The Weapons of Our Warfare are Not Carnal

Download or read book The Weapons of Our Warfare are Not Carnal written by Diane Covher and published by . This book was released on 2020-08-17 with total page 214 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In these end times we need to understand how to face an enemy that has no mercy for us. He would prefer to see us dead. He has an army that is disciplined and regimented to follow out orders to attack all who are weak and unprotected. This enemy is none other than Satan himself and the thousands of demons, fallen angels, and evil spirits who follow the same plan as he does; to annihilate mankind. We cannot physically see this army, but we can see the results of the attacks upon individuals who end up in spiritual battles with them and don't know much about them. Many people who have confessed the name of Jesus seem to fall short in the area of knowing what He has said in His word. They will argue and strongly discuss many matters pertaining to the word but will more than likely not have adequate understanding of it. The principle of needing to 'eat' His word is not something grasped. We all know the saying "you are what you eat". It has been said that the bible is the most argued about book and the least read. Why is this so? This is the very point I will try to expose in this book.

Book Books As Weapons

  • Author : John B. Hench
  • Publisher : Cornell University Press

Download or read book Books As Weapons written by John B. Hench and published by Cornell University Press. This book was released on 2016-10-15 with total page 352 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Only weeks after the D-Day invasion of June 6, 1944, a surprising cargo—crates of books—joined the flood of troop reinforcements, weapons and ammunition, food, and medicine onto Normandy beaches. The books were destined for French bookshops, to be followed by millions more American books (in translation but also in English) ultimately distributed throughout Europe and the rest of the world. The British were doing similar work, which was uneasily coordinated with that of the Americans within the Psychological Warfare Division of General Eisenhower's Supreme Headquarters, Allied Expeditionary Force, under General Eisenhower's command. Books As Weapons tells the little-known story of the vital partnership between American book publishers and the U.S. government to put carefully selected recent books highlighting American history and values into the hands of civilians liberated from Axis forces. The government desired to use books to help "disintoxicate" the minds of these people from the Nazi and Japanese propaganda and censorship machines and to win their friendship. This objective dovetailed perfectly with U.S. publishers' ambitions to find new profits in international markets, which had been dominated by Britain, France, and Germany before their book trades were devastated by the war. Key figures on both the trade and government sides of the program considered books "the most enduring propaganda of all" and thus effective "weapons in the war of ideas," both during the war and afterward, when the Soviet Union flexed its military might and demonstrated its propaganda savvy. Seldom have books been charged with greater responsibility or imbued with more significance. John B. Hench leavens this fully international account of the programs with fascinating vignettes set in the war rooms of Washington and London, publishers' offices throughout the world, and the jeeps in which information officers drove over bomb-rutted roads to bring the books to people who were hungering for them. Books as Weapons provides context for continuing debates about the relationship between government and private enterprise and the image of the United States abroad.
