All this rushing from one place to another?” You feel that something’s missing in your life, something you can’t quite put your finger on. Despite your successes, there is this feeling of emptiness—a kind of restlessness—and you don’t know why it’s there. The nine-to-five grind and (for moms) the daily school rounds, household chores, baby schedules, etc.—we’re like hamsters running round and round on the wheel. It’s only when a crisis hits us that we freeze in place or pause. That’s when we utter, “Oh God!” “Oh my God!” Find out how Meg stands up to God whom she had rejected in favour of ancestral worship. God who was taking away three mothers in her family.

Download or read book Dismantling Injustice written by April Love-Fordham and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2016-05-31 with total page 233 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The world needs leaders who are prepared to dismantle injustice. Through the story told in the Song of Solomon, you will learn to use the one tool that heals both victim and oppressor: God's love. This once popular interpretation of the Song of Solomon details a young woman's struggle between submitting to King Solomon as his sex slave and accepting her beloved Shepherd's invitation to come away. The scholars who subscribed to this interpretation believed the Song of Solomon was a rallying cry to dismantle the injustices perpetuated by the unpopular King Solomon against his Northern Kingdom. Was this interpretation buried in modern times to justify slavery and segregation? You will need to judge for yourself. The book is divided into eight lessons, each ending with a suggested spiritual practice. The reader gets a solid understanding of the Song of Solomon wrapped around an unforgettable parable: the story of an African-American baseball coach turned congressional representative, who, influenced by the Song of Solomon, spent his life dismantling injustice. The Disorderly Parable Bible Studies teach the way Jesus taught, by using stories of everyday people and things to illustrate spiritual truths.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Do you consume God's blessings, or do you share them? Most Christians are consumers. We are obsessed with knowing the right theology and following the right set of rules in hopes that God will bless us. Yet, no matter how much God blesses us, we are still looking for more. James says our faith is dead. But there is another type of Christian, one who craves being put to work as the servant of God to share God's blessings with others. Their faith spurs them on to become the hands and feet of Christ. James says their faith is alive. James in the Suburbs is far more than your ordinary Bible study guide. It is also a parable--an energizing story of the lives of six men and women--that wraps itself around the Epistle of James, making its teachings immediately applicable to modern life. You will walk away with not only a thorough understanding of the epistle, but also the unforgettable story of people just like you, whose lives the Holy Spirit turned upside down. This book can be read casually by an individual or studied within a group. The final chapter provides everything readers need for a guided twelve-week study.

What you see is not always what you get - and this true story of a man and his dog is no exception. Woven just under the surface of this simple parable, Keller presents profound spiritual truth. It is the story of Lass, a worthless animal thought to be untrainable, who becomes a magnificent and valuable sheepdog - not terribly unlike how God's love can transform our worst characteristics into blessings that serve to further His Kingdom. Allow yourself to see Biblical truth in this classic tale of what can happen when you yield to the Master.

Book Where Are All the Brothers

Download or read book Where Are All the Brothers written by Eric C. Redmond and published by Crossway. This book was released on 2008-05-09 with total page 114 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this unique book, Pastor Eric Redmond confronts the important question of "Where are the black men in the African-American church?" with a candid approach that combines wisdom with a conversational tone. Instead of side-stepping issues, Redmond converses with readers about some of their reasons for not going to church-the church seems geared toward women, the preacher is just an ordinary man, Islam appears to offer more for the black man, organized religion is not necessary, churches are just after your money-and approaches their skepticism with respect but also with corrective truth. On these and other topics, Where Are All the Brothers? speaks about the things that men think about in private or discuss at the barbershop when it comes to church and religion, challenging them to reexamine their long-held assumptions. Redmond, who has used this material in a variety of settings with great success, also gives eight things to look for when considering a good church so that readers can find a healthy, biblical church home. And it's all in this unintimidating book that can easily be read in ten minutes a day.

Book Blood of the Lamb Catholic Bible Study

Download or read book Blood of the Lamb Catholic Bible Study written by Beth Leonard and published by Author House. This book was released on 2014-03 with total page 159 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If blood were money, then Jesus left this world penniless. For our sake and the will of his Father, Jesus completely emptied himself for the amassed debt of mankind. From the droplets of circumcision to the outpouring of blood and water upon the cross, Jesus gave all he had to give so we might share in his resurrection. Holy Scripture waits for our stillness before it speaks to us for its great value and mysterious contents are hidden from the one who passes by quickly. But for the one who sits with patience, it speaks volumes; revealing worth and fortune we did not know were possible. The Blood of the Lamb Catholic Bible Study creates an atmosphere for learning, reflecting and sharing. By blending Holy Scripture, catechism, and liturgy with anecdotal stories, it strikes a refined balance to studying the Bible. Intentionally decide to snuggle closer to God, stretch yourself to use the gifts given to you, and open your heart a bit wider. You will be amazed at the graces He wants to pour out to you, through the Blood of the Lamb. "Scripture is best when it is memorable, useful, and fruitful." Author, Beth Leonard

Book The Good Shepherd

    Book Details:
  • Author : Beverly Wirth
  • Publisher : WestBow Press
  • Release : 2012-07
  • ISBN : 1449755755
  • Pages : 34 pages

Download or read book The Good Shepherd written by Beverly Wirth and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2012-07 with total page 34 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The retelling and illustration of this parable is faithful to Scripture, as found in Luke 15; 4-6 NKJV. But it contains many surprises as the Lord God is wont to bring. The setting is abstract because the story could occur anywhere; its truth is universal, sovereign and timeless. At the same time, the story is personal, told from Wirth's own relationship with the Lord. His character, movements and words embody the nature of Jesus, as she knows him and desires to share this story with her audience, the adult and child. En route to a cooler, green pasture, the Good Shepherd leads his six jolly sheep, stopping to give them unique blessings. A rain storm descends and Malinda is lost. As God would have it, her rescue is sure and gives Him the glory. The rainbow remains as His covenant promise that He will not leave them or ever forsake them. The relationship of the Good Shepherd is clear. He trusts God to answer his prayers for guidance on the journey and for help in finding his lost sheep; then he thanks God for finding her in a most unusual way. The Good Shepherd and all his sheep rejoice. But God has still more blessings to give; more wonderful provisions come. The illustrations are freely-cut paper collages; correspondingly, the writing style is free-verse. The book is charismatic; it carries the audience up in the Spirit. Of the six sheep, five are called by the middle names of Wirth's grandchildren: Frances, Philip, Redmond, Murray, Liam. The sixth, Malinda, is the name of a daughter of friends. This story is dedicated to them all. This book could well be an encouragement to pray for the lost. It could also be a thank-you, if you know someone who was lost and then became found by the Lord.
