Book The Early Enoch Literature

Download or read book The Early Enoch Literature written by Gabriele Boccaccini and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2007-12-01 with total page 378 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In recent years there has been a lively debate about the early Enoch literature and its place in Judaism. This volume is intended to represent that debate, by juxtaposing pairs of articles on several key issues: the textual evidence, the relationship to the Torah, the calendar, the relation to wisdom, the relation to the temple, the sociological setting and the relation to the Dead Sea Scrolls. It is not the intention of the editors to impose a consensus, but rather to stimulate discussion by bringing together divergent viewpoints. The book should be a useful textbook not only on the Enoch literature and apocalypticism, but more generally on Second Temple Judaism.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Saviour of the World Book was written from a raw research style point of view in a crude way to illustrate the idea of ages or aeons or olams by indulging into the various occurrences of the word in the Bible. Possible exegesis to its meanings are explored with known Christ Centered Universalist scholars quoted and analyzed. Apart from that, the author adds support exegesis in that direction even sometimes diverting into unrelated topics to highlight certain common misconceptions or warn against some sins which may have been taken lightly at large. This book developed out of a personal interest and curiosity over this Topic and thus the author maintains his thoughts on the matter though mingled with certain unrelated subjects to defend more of the literal view of Biblical Exegesis.

Book excerpt: Clearly the most important book left out of the Bible. It seems to have predated everything in the New Testament, having been written almost entirely in the second century. Charles said, The influence of I Enoch on the New Testament has been greater than that of all the other apocryphal and pseudepigraphical books put together. All the notes of Charles are included here, along with a list of every known translation and how they contributed to our knowledge. This is by far the most thorough and scholarly edition which every serious researcher and student should have. It first appeared in 1912. Five years later, in 1917, the slimmer, edited version replaced this book, making it virtually impossible to finduntil now.

Book The Judgments of the Watchers

Download or read book The Judgments of the Watchers written by James Lewallen and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2022-08-01 with total page 235 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The author of this book was driven by a vision that God so impressed upon him, that he was compelled to understand its interpretation and purpose. Contained herein, is a detailed account of the ancient Watchers, during the early times of earth's co-habitation with mankind. As such, we are finally given a meticulously clear account of the origin of not simply the sin nature, but the vehicle of the perversion and wickedness that we have inherited in our lives today. By way of a rebellion that was diabolical in nature, this wickedness was brought to the earthly plane, by a group of fallen angels from the angelic realm, who in their righteous state, were called Holy Watchers. These angelic hosts were created by God Himself, to act as protectors and guardians of mankind, in accordance with the Creator's purpose; however, there was a group of these Watchers (fallen angels) who left their heavenly abode, and their responsibility for which they were created, as protectorates for humanity, and were driven from Heaven by their own compulsion of lust for the beautiful women of the earth. The result has been catastrophic to mankind! The offspring of these "fallen angels" became the Giants in the land; the Nephilim, who brought forth such a vile and perverse nature of evil into the earth that God, the Father of Creation, was forced to bring His judgments upon the evil Watchers and their offspring. In the meantime, (even since the flood), the effect of this rebellious nature upon the earth, has been to defile mankind and everything aligned with goodness and truth . . . And mankind is still contending with this evil to this day.

Book The Illumination Project

Download or read book The Illumination Project written by Mike Hockney and published by Magus Books. This book was released on with total page 158 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: They came seeking Illumination. Did they find it? Well, how would they know? What makes you think you're "enlightened"? Maybe you're one of those false awakeners. How do you know that your "enlightenment" isn't illusory? What criteria are you using to determine what "enlightenment" is? Why those criteria? Have you ever even thought about it? And if you haven't, how can you possibly be enlightened? Enlightenment isn't ignorance. It's not about willfully ignoring the facts. It's not about turning your back on reason and logic. It's not about severe cognitive deficits. It's not about annihilating your mind ("nirvana"). It's not about unconditional love. It's not about your feelings at all. It's not about super-duper mystical intuition. It's not about perfecting your senses. It's about none of those. Project Illumination is about showing what Illumination is really all about. Come inside and expose yourself to the light of reason, the only thing that can truly Illuminate you. Are you ready to receive the light? Let's light this thing up.

Book The Watchers in Jewish and Christian Traditions

Download or read book The Watchers in Jewish and Christian Traditions written by Angela Kim Harkins and published by Augsburg Fortress Publishers. This book was released on 2014 with total page 257 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At the origin of the Watchers tradition is the single enigmatic reference in Genesis 6 to the sons of God who had intercourse with human women, producing a race of giants upon the earth. That verse sparked a wealth of cosmological and theological speculation in early Judaism. Here leading scholars explore the contours of the Watchers traditions through history, tracing their development through the Enoch literature, Jubilees, and other early Jewish and Christian writings. This volume provides a lucid survey of current knowledge and interpretation of one of the most intriguing theological motifs of the Second Temple period.

I would read anything he writes” (Peggy Noonan, Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist and bestselling author). In this “sensational sequel” (Steve Forbes), a fallen angel is mistakenly resurrected from the blood of an evil “Watcher” taken from the Shroud of Turin, and the fiend bestows an unstoppable plague on the world. Dr. Jon Bondurant, the forensic anthropologist and avowed atheist, joins with devout Domenika Josef to bring another child of the Shroud into the world to save it, this one borne of DNA believed to be that of Jesus Christ. Can this child be the answer to their—and mankind’s—prayers? His parents are uncertain just who the child is or what he will become, but when he starts demonstrating remarkable powers to heal, they begin to understand that whatever he is, he is not of this world. Might he bring miracles to the world when it needs them the most? Or has science given mankind a tool with which it will destroy itself as the tempting power of the Watcher unfolds? What follows is a globe-spanning chase to uncover the truth and stop a pandemic that just may wipe out humanity once and for all in a “smart, electrifying thriller that delivers cover-to-cover” (Brad Thor, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Spymaster).

Download or read book Enoch and Metatron Collection written by Scriptural Research Institute and published by Scriptural Research Institute. This book was released on 2020-06-11 with total page 434 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The five books of Enoch are a collection of books written in Semitic languages, and often grouped together as the 'Book of Enoch,' or '1st Enoch.' The books were likely written at different points in time and different Semitic languages. The first book was the Book of the Watchers, which is generally considered to be the oldest book in the collection, however, the age of the book is debated. The book is now known to have originated long before Christianity since the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls, however, was lost for well over a thousand years to Europeans, and assumed to be a Christian-era work when the Europeans rediscovered it in Ethiopia. The five books of Enoch only survive in Ge'ez, the classical language of Ethiopia, however, do not survive intact, and some sections of text do not survive. Other books attributed to Enoch, including the Secrets of Enoch, which is also called the 2nd Book of Enoch, however, is not the same text as the Semitic 2nd Book of Enoch. The Secrets of Enoch has only survived in the Old Slavonic language in the Balkan Peninsula and may be a partial paraphrase of the Book of the Watchers. Another text attributed to Enoch is the Revelation of Metatron, also called the Revelation of Metatron, Book of the Palaces, Book of Rabbi Ishmael the High Priest, or the 3rd Book of Enoch, however, is not the same text as the Ethiopian 3rd Book of Enoch, or any section of the Semitic books of Enoch. The Revelation of Metatron is written as a sequel to the first five books of Enoch and is written from the perspective of Enoch in the sky, where his angelic name was Metatron. The Revelation of Metatron appears to have been written in Hebrew but includes several Greek and Latin words that have led scholars to assume the text is a Jewish text written in the Christian era. The Revelation of Metatron is a medieval Jewish work, that claims to have been written in the late-2nd century AD by Rabbi Ishmael 'the High Priest.' It is known by various names, including the Sepher Hekhalot (Book of the Palaces), the 3rd Book of Enoch, and the Book of Rabbi Ishmael the High Priest, although its most common name, is the Revelation of Metatron. The earliest name for the work was likely the Sepher Hekhalot (Book of the Palaces), however, all copies have been so reworked that it cannot be known for sure. It is clear that Rabbi Ishmael did not write it, and his name, which is in almost every verse, was inserted to replace another name that the medieval publisher did not want associated with the book. Rabbi Ishmael was the author of the book called Hekhalot Rabbati (Greater Palaces) sometime between 100 and 130 AD, and his name was late used as a pseudonym by many authors of Merkabah literature between 200 and 1000 AD.
