Blood Brothers (To be released) PRAISE FOR THE LOKI'S WOLVES / RAGNAROK: DOOM OF THE GODS SERIES: This book is a great time! It combines all the best elements of the paranormal with a spine-chilling mystery. Although short, it is a well-told story full of twists and turns. The author has a light easy-going touch with a descriptive style that draws the reader into the action. Although a little light on the shape-shifting aspect of the characters, the story explores other aspects of the supernatural, drawing inspiration from Viking mythology. This use of mythology in a modern way opens up a plethora of new ideas for the genre. "Valkyrie's Vengeance" is a niceeasy read, perfect for unwinding after work or on a Sunday afternoon. ~InD'Tale Magazine RONE Awards 2016 Finalist Fans of the following books and series are known to enjoy this Norse & Viking mythology, paranormal & urban fantasy series: Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman Demon Hunter by Rachel Medhurst (Viking Soul) Ragnarok Rising by Nora Ash (The Omega Prophecy) Urban Mythic: Eleven Novels of Adventure and Romance, Featuring Norse and Greek Gods, Demons and Djinn, Angels, Fairies, Vampires, and Werewolves in the Modern World by C. I failed my sisters and fell in love with William Johnson. I've watched him for three lifetimes and a little piece of me broke every time I had to let him die. I paid the price for breaking the first law of the Valkyrie. I lost all the memories I had of Will. That's why Sam is keeping tabs on me. She's an ever-present shadow during my time at Mattsfield High. Sam is the perfect Valkyrie. Tall. Beautiful. Heartless. I may not remember Will, but my heart does. Book Odin s Ways

    Book Details:
  • Author : Annette Lassen
  • Publisher : Taylor & Francis
  • Release : 2021-12-24
  • ISBN : 1000469824
  • Pages : 309 pages

Download or read book Odin s Ways written by Annette Lassen and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2021-12-24 with total page 309 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is about the Old Norse god Odin. It includes references to all occurrences of Odin in the Old Norse/Icelandic texts, including Saxo’s Gesta Danorum, the eddic poems, Snorri’s Edda, and Ynglinga saga and analyses the high medieval reception and literary representations of Odin rather than the religious character of the god. This is the only existing study of Odin in all the Old Norse/Icelandic texts and applies a contextual method: the different guises of Odin are studied on the basis of the various textual contexts and on their background in the literary and Christian intellectual milieu of the time. Contrary to existing studies, this method is non-reductive in that it does not aim at providing a synthesis about Odin’s original nature on the basis of the differing textual uses of Odin in the Middle Ages. The book argues that the perceived complexity of Odin, often highlighted in research, is first and foremost a function of the complex textual material spanning a wide variety of genres each with its particular literary conventions and of the reception of Odin in early modern and modern mythological studies.

Book Super Bitches and Action Babes

Download or read book Super Bitches and Action Babes written by Rikke Schubart and published by McFarland. This book was released on 2014-08-23 with total page 369 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With actress Pam Grier's breakthrough in Coffy and Foxy Brown, women entered action, science fiction, war, westerns and martial arts films--genres that had previously been considered the domain of male protagonists. This ground-breaking cinema, however, was--and still is--viewed with ambivalence. While women were cast in new and exciting roles, they did not always arrive with their femininity intact, often functioning both as a sexualized spectacle and as a new female hero rather than female character. This volume contains an in-depth critical analysis and study of the female hero in popular film from 1970 to 2006. It examines five female archetypes: the dominatrix, the Amazon, the daughter, the mother and the rape-avenger. The entrance of the female hero into films written by, produced by and made for men is viewed through the lens of feminism and post-feminism arguments. Analyzed works include films with actors Michelle Yeoh and Meiko Kaji, the Alien films, the Lara Croft franchise, Charlie's Angels, and television productions such as Xena: Warrior Princess and Alias.
