Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Third Chair is about change. Everyone needs to change something. The problem with change is that we tend to live in the rst two chairs. We DIAGNOSE the problem and we DREAM about things being better. We often never move past the two. Movement has to take place in eight other places to nd true and lasting transformation. This book takes you through an easy to understand process. It lands on the most critical component of all - the third chair. If you need to change your health, ministry, marriage, pro t and loss sheet, attitude, track and eld time or any other thing then this book is for you. It weaves the lives of three Biblical figures and four contemporary ones through a ten chair process. Change is possible. Change requires work. Change is worth it! "In an easy-to-read style Joe Phillips leads the reader deftly from chair to chair. With a touch of friendly trickery he lands us finally, not on the last chair, but on the third. Find out why this book and a peach milkshake can make all the difference in the world, in YOUR world." Download or read book Transformational Change Efforts Student Engagement in Mathematics through an Institutional Network for Active Learning written by Wendy M. Smith and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2021-05-05 with total page 348 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this handbook is to help launch institutional transformations in mathematics departments to improve student success. We report findings from the Student Engagement in Mathematics through an Institutional Network for Active Learning (SEMINAL) study. SEMINAL's purpose is to help change agents, those looking to (or currently attempting to) enact change within mathematics departments and beyond—trying to reform the instruction of their lower division mathematics courses in order to promote high achievement for all students. SEMINAL specifically studies the change mechanisms that allow postsecondary institutions to incorporate and sustain active learning in Precalculus to Calculus 2 learning environments. Out of the approximately 2.5 million students enrolled in collegiate mathematics courses each year, over 90% are enrolled in Precalculus to Calculus 2 courses. Forty-four percent of mathematics departments think active learning mathematics strategies are important for Precalculus to Calculus 2 courses, but only 15 percnt state that they are very successful at implementing them. Therefore, insights into the following research question will help with institutional transformations: What conditions, strategies, interventions and actions at the departmental and classroom levels contribute to the initiation, implementation, and institutional sustainability of active learning in the undergraduate calculus sequence (Precalculus to Calculus 2) across varied institutions?

Download or read book Ignite the Third Factor written by Peter Jensen and published by Dundurn.com. This book was released on 2011-04-15 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How do you get someone else committed to reaching their fullest potential? It's a question that challenges new managers and seasoned executives alike, echoes through coaches' heads as they watch a gifted athlete underachieve, and keeps parents up at night. In Ignite the Third Factor, Peter synthesizes his life‘s work into the five core practices exceptional leaders use to ignite the Third Factor in themselves and others — whether it‘s in the locker room before a gold medal Olympic hockey game or at a routine performance review. Peter works through an easy-to-understand model, providing a clear view of what separates igniters from extinguishers and exploring a wealth of strategies you can put to use immediately in your world. Like the laws of physics, these principles apply in any environment. They may look different when used by a parent, a manager, or a coach, but the forces of work remain the same. Ignite the Third Factor is a fast-paced journey packed with familiar faces, engaging stories, and humour. As he moves from the dressing room to the corner office and back again, Peter weaves insights from well-known Canadian, American, and British coaches and executives with his personal experience to provide a practical guide to helping others excel — all set against the backdrop of an exciting thirty years of involvement in the Canadian Olympic Movement.

This book was released on 2017-02-17 with total page 124 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During his years in office, from 2009 to 2017, Barack Obama signed more landmark legislation than any Democratic president since Lyndon Baines Johnson. His main reforms include the "Obamacare", changes of the financial regulation as a response to the Great Recession; as well as reforms for greater inclusiveness for LGBT Americans. He also advocated gun control and issued wide-ranging executive actions concerning climate change and immigration. The presidency of Donald Trump began on January 20, 2017. During the first three weeks in the office, Trump has issued several consequential presidential orders, such as Executive Order 13769, which suspended the admission of refugees into the United States, Expediting Environmental Reviews, Affordable Care Act Pending Repeal, International Trafficking and many more... According to some, these orders were aimed to repeal the work of Barack Obama, according to others they represent a determined action, long awaited changes and positive progress. In this collection you can see in the clearest way the true political program and the goal of both presidents through their legislation actions and speeches.

Download or read book Opening Minds written by Peter Johnston and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2023-10-10 with total page 161 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Introducing a spelling test to a student by saying, 'Let' s see how many words you know,' is different from saying, 'Let's see how many words you know already.' It is only one word, but the already suggests that any words the child knows are ahead of expectation and, most important, that there is nothing permanent about what is known and not known. Peter Johnston Grounded in research, Opening Minds: Using Language to Change Livesshows how words can shape students' learning, their sense of self, and their social, emotional and moral development. Make no mistake: words have the power to open minds – or close them. Following up his groundbreaking book, Choice Words, author Peter Johnston continues to demonstrate how the things teachers say (and don't say) have surprising consequences for the literate lives of students. In this new book, Johnston shows how the words teachers choose can affect the worlds students inhabit in the classroom. He explains how to engage children with more productive talk and how to create classrooms that support students' intellectual development, as well as their development as human beings.
