Book The Complex Analytic Theory of Teichmuller Spaces

Download or read book The Complex Analytic Theory of Teichmuller Spaces written by Subhashis Nag and published by Wiley-Interscience. This book was released on 1988-03-03 with total page 456 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An accessible, self-contained treatment of the complex structure of the Teichmüller moduli spaces of Riemann surfaces. Complex analysts, geometers, and especially string theorists (!) will find this work indispensable. The Teichmüller space, parametrizing all the various complex structures on a given surface, itself carries (in a completely natural way) the complex structure of a finite- or infinite-dimensional complex manifold. Nag emphasizes the Bers embedding of Teichmüller spaces and deals with various types of complex-analytic coördinates for them. This is the first book in which a complete exposition is given of the most basic fact that the Bers projection from Beltrami differentials onto Teichmüller space is a complex analytic submersion. The fundamental universal property enjoyed by Teichmüller space is given two proofs and the Bers complex boundary is examined to the point where totally degenerate Kleinian groups make their spectacular appearance. Contains much material previously unpublished.

Book Spectral Theory and Analytic Geometry over Non Archimedean Fields

Download or read book Spectral Theory and Analytic Geometry over Non Archimedean Fields written by Vladimir G. Berkovich and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2012-08-02 with total page 181 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this book is to introduce a new notion of analytic space over a non-Archimedean field. Despite the total disconnectedness of the ground field, these analytic spaces have the usual topological properties of a complex analytic space, such as local compactness and local arcwise connectedness. This makes it possible to apply the usual notions of homotopy and singular homology. The book includes a homotopic characterization of the analytic spaces associated with certain classes of algebraic varieties and an interpretation of Bruhat-Tits buildings in terms of these analytic spaces. The author also studies the connection with the earlier notion of a rigid analytic space. Geometrical considerations are used to obtain some applications, and the analytic spaces are used to construct the foundations of a non-Archimedean spectral theory of bounded linear operators. This book requires a background at the level of basic graduate courses in algebra and topology, as well as some familiarity with algebraic geometry. It would be of interest to research mathematicians and graduate students working in algebraic geometry, number theory, and -adic analysis.

Book Integration of One forms on P adic Analytic Spaces AM 162

Download or read book Integration of One forms on P adic Analytic Spaces AM 162 written by Vladimir G. Berkovich and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2007 with total page 164 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Among the many differences between classical and p-adic objects, those related to differential equations occupy a special place. For example, a closed p-adic analytic one-form defined on a simply-connected domain does not necessarily have a primitive in the class of analytic functions. In the early 1980s, Robert Coleman discovered a way to construct primitives of analytic one-forms on certain smooth p-adic analytic curves in a bigger class of functions. Since then, there have been several attempts to generalize his ideas to smooth p-adic analytic spaces of higher dimension, but the spaces considered were invariably associated with algebraic varieties. This book aims to show that every smooth p-adic analytic space is provided with a sheaf of functions that includes all analytic ones and satisfies a uniqueness property. It also contains local primitives of all closed one-forms with coefficients in the sheaf that, in the case considered by Coleman, coincide with those he constructed. In consequence, one constructs a parallel transport of local solutions of a unipotent differential equation and an integral of a closed one-form along a path so that both depend nontrivially on the homotopy class of the path. Both the author's previous results on geometric properties of smooth p-adic analytic spaces and the theory of isocrystals are further developed in this book, which is aimed at graduate students and mathematicians working in the areas of non-Archimedean analytic geometry, number theory, and algebraic geometry.

Book Complex Analytic Cycles I

Download or read book Complex Analytic Cycles I written by Daniel Barlet and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-01-03 with total page 545 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book consists of a presentation from scratch of cycle space methodology in complex geometry. Applications in various contexts are given. A significant portion of the book is devoted to material which is important in the general area of complex analysis. In this regard, a geometric approach is used to obtain fundamental results such as the local parameterization theorem, Lelong' s Theorem and Remmert's direct image theorem. Methods involving cycle spaces have been used in complex geometry for some forty years. The purpose of the book is to systematically explain these methods in a way which is accessible to graduate students in mathematics as well as to research mathematicians. After the background material which is presented in the initial chapters, families of cycles are treated in the last most important part of the book. Their topological aspects are developed in a systematic way and some basic, important applications of analytic families of cycles are given. The construction of the cycle space as a complex space, along with numerous important applications, is given in the second volume. The present book is a translation of the French version that was published in 2014 by the French Mathematical Society.

Book Analytic Functions of Several Complex Variables

Download or read book Analytic Functions of Several Complex Variables written by Robert C. Gunning and published by American Mathematical Society. This book was released on 2022-08-25 with total page 334 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The theory of analytic functions of several complex variables enjoyed a period of remarkable development in the middle part of the twentieth century. After initial successes by Poincaré and others in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the theory encountered obstacles that prevented it from growing quickly into an analogue of the theory for functions of one complex variable. Beginning in the 1930s, initially through the work of Oka, then H. Cartan, and continuing with the work of Grauert, Remmert, and others, new tools were introduced into the theory of several complex variables that resolved many of the open problems and fundamentally changed the landscape of the subject. These tools included a central role for sheaf theory and increased uses of topology and algebra. The book by Gunning and Rossi was the first of the modern era of the theory of several complex variables, which is distinguished by the use of these methods. The intention of Gunning and Rossi's book is to provide an extensive introduction to the Oka-Cartan theory and some of its applications, and to the general theory of analytic spaces. Fundamental concepts and techniques are discussed as early as possible. The first chapter covers material suitable for a one-semester graduate course, presenting many of the central problems and techniques, often in special cases. The later chapters give more detailed expositions of sheaf theory for analytic functions and the theory of complex analytic spaces. Since its original publication, this book has become a classic resource for the modern approach to functions of several complex variables and the theory of analytic spaces. Book Analytic and Geometric Study of Stratified Spaces

Download or read book Analytic and Geometric Study of Stratified Spaces written by Markus J. Pflaum and published by Springer. This book was released on 2003-07-01 with total page 233 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book provides an introduction to stratification theory leading the reader up to modern research topics in the field. The first part presents the basics of stratification theory, in particular the Whitney conditions and Mather's control theory, and introduces the notion of a smooth structure. Moreover, it explains how one can use smooth structures to transfer differential geometric and analytic methods from the arena of manifolds to stratified spaces. In the second part the methods established in the first part are applied to particular classes of stratified spaces like for example orbit spaces. Then a new de Rham theory for stratified spaces is established and finally the Hochschild (co)homology theory of smooth functions on certain classes of stratified spaces is studied. The book should be accessible to readers acquainted with the basics of topology, analysis and differential geometry.

Book Rigid Analytic Geometry and Its Applications

Download or read book Rigid Analytic Geometry and Its Applications written by Jean Fresnel and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 303 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rigid (analytic) spaces were invented to describe degenerations, reductions, and moduli of algebraic curves and abelian varieties. This work, a revised and greatly expanded new English edition of an earlier French text by the same authors, presents important new developments and applications of the theory of rigid analytic spaces to abelian varieties, "points of rigid spaces," étale cohomology, Drinfeld modular curves, and Monsky-Washnitzer cohomology. The exposition is concise, self-contained, rich in examples and exercises, and will serve as an excellent graduate-level text for the classroom or for self-study.

Download or read book Analysis on Fock Spaces written by Kehe Zhu and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-05-26 with total page 350 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Several natural Lp spaces of analytic functions have been widely studied in the past few decades, including Hardy spaces, Bergman spaces, and Fock spaces. The terms “Hardy spaces” and “Bergman spaces” are by now standard and well established. But the term “Fock spaces” is a different story. Numerous excellent books now exist on the subject of Hardy spaces. Several books about Bergman spaces, including some of the author’s, have also appeared in the past few decades. But there has been no book on the market concerning the Fock spaces. The purpose of this book is to fill that void, especially when many results in the subject are complete by now. This book presents important results and techniques summarized in one place, so that new comers, especially graduate students, have a convenient reference to the subject. This book contains proofs that are new and simpler than the existing ones in the literature. In particular, the book avoids the use of the Heisenberg group, the Fourier transform, and the heat equation. This helps to keep the prerequisites to a minimum. A standard graduate course in each of real analysis, complex analysis, and functional analysis should be sufficient preparation for the reader.
