This book was released on 2016-08-26 with total page 174 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It has been said that no one could learn Wrestling from a text-book. A great deal, of course, depends on how well that text-book is written, the experience of the author, and his ability to impart his knowledge of the art. I have read Mr. S. K. Uyenishi’s book with great pleasure, and I have no doubt that it will be of tremendous help, not only to beginners but to those who have been practising the art for many years. Indeed, I have read no book which deals with the subject of Ju-Jutsu more clearly or more simply. The detailed description of the various falls, throws and locks will enable the student quickly to slip out of holds with the same skill in which he gets his opponent into difficulties—in fact, the whole art of Ju-Jutsu is splendidly presented. I have no hesitation in commending Mr. Uyenishi’s book to everyone seriously interested in this ancient Japanese science. PERCY BICKERDIKE

Book Essence of Self Defence Three in One

Download or read book Essence of Self Defence Three in One written by Uyenishi, Collingridge, Leather and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2019-04-03 with total page 280 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All three of the works reproduced herein are about how to do practical martial arts, as a sport, for self-defence, or for combat. Published in the United Kingdom over a period of four decades, from 1905 to the 1940s, they are arranged in chronological order of their issue dates and have been presented in their original format. They should be viewed, not only as valuable time capsules, but as tangible references as to how self-defence methods developed during that time, because as wars came and went, necessity became the father of adaptation. This resulted in the deadlier applications, which arrived in England alongside recreational jujitsu and sport judo at the dawn of the 20th century, being synthesized more into styles for self-preservation and these then began to change back into methods for maiming and killing. This trend should not be so shocking though, because jujitsu had, following the opening up of Japan after 1868, been developed as a safe method for practicing the older martial arts of the samurai.

Book Japanese Jiu jitsu

Download or read book Japanese Jiu jitsu written by Darrell Max Craig and published by Tuttle Publishing. This book was released on 2015-02-17 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With extensive, step-by-step photographs and instructions, this jiu-jitsu guide is an effective tool for mastering this ancient martial art. The original Japanese martial art developed by the elite samurai class during Japan's feudal era, Jiu-jitsu is the forerunner of Judo and the precursor of today's ultimate fighting styles, such as mixed martial arts (MMA). For centuries, this method of unarmed self-defense proved so successful in combat that it was kept secret and taught only to a select few. Based on the author's study with instructors at the Tokyo police academy, this martial arts book presents all the traditional techniques of Jujitsu, also known as Jiu-jitsu. These techniques teach you valuable restraining methods that force your opponent to submit without abuse by using pressure points. It shows you tips for search and seizure, and the almost extinct art of Hojojutsu—how to tie people up without using any knots. Japanese Jiu-jitsu: Secret Techniques of Self-Defense addresses and demonstrates the full range of Kaisho Goshin Budo Taiho Jitsu Ryu (Tokyo police self-defense). Learn specific techniques such as: The use of hands Throwing an opponent Attacking vital points with strikes and kicks The use of weapons (like the staff). This fascinating Jiujitsu book, designed as a training manual, also serves as a remarkable illustrated guide to the secret art of Japanese samurai self-defense.

Book THE TEXT BOOK of JU JUTSU as practised in Japan Collector s Edition

Download or read book THE TEXT BOOK of JU JUTSU as practised in Japan Collector s Edition written by S. K. Uyenishi and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2019-03-17 with total page 156 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mystery and intrigue surrounds much of the life of the founder and practitioner of Ju-Jutsu, the self-styled "professor", S. K. (Sada Kazu) Uyenishi. However, he was one of the first and probably the most influential jujitsu and judo experts to demonstrate, teach and compete in these arts outside of Japan. From the shadowy "Baritsu" exponents in the stories of Sherlock Holmes, to Inspector Clouseau's sidekick Cato of Pink Panther notoriety and James Bond's Odd Job, he of the stage name "Raku" has provided the entertainment industry with many stereotypes. Sada Kazu Uyenishi even influenced the seeming erratic, yet expertly controlled, screen pranks of the masterful Charlie Chaplin; but who was S. K. Uyenishi in real life? Find out more about him and his uniquely 'soft' style of Ju-jutsu, from reading this authentic presentation of his book.
