Lueking in oontrast, this latter probably due to the superposition of the eoiitintious speotrum of the one sta'r on the absorption lines of the other. Line plate. No. 1983. Obtained at principal minimum shows the spectrum with single lines. This spootrum is prinoipally, but not wholly, as it is only a partial eelipse. Of tho fainter star, and home gives a litter idea of the oharaeter and type. From this spootrutu the type should be classed as lii'i. But is rather abnormal in the breadth of the hydrogen lines. In all' ll double litres have been measured H7, 116 o 4383. 4144, 4li2li: lg 4431; ('a. K. 3934. Wing to the laok of eon trast and tho difl'usetiess of the lines. The tiieasures are difliettlt and neeessarilv not of very bigli accuracy. In many eases some of the lines oi the weaker spootrutn oould only be recognized and, bisected by their showing a faint lightening of the speetrtttn on each side of the wire. Nevertheless, I believe the measures are reliable. As there is fair interagreetnent among the values for the different lines. Atid the general dimensions of the svstem are. Substantially oorreet.
