Book excerpt: The supernatural visitation described in this book happened in 1992. However, I felt that I could not speak of it openly until the "time was right," and that time is now! In the years that followed, I had angelic encounters that are also recounted in these pages. The time I spent in the presence of Jesus profoundly changed me! During this time, Jesus promised that the story of His visitation and the teaching He gave during my 45-minutes with Him has the capacity to radically change YOU too. ABOUT THE AUTHORKevin Zadai was called to ministry at the age of 10. He attended Central Bible College in Springfield, Missouri, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Theology. Later, he received training in Missions at Rhema Bible College. At age 31, during a routine day surgery, he found himself on the 'other side of the veil' with Jesus. For 45 minutes, the Master revealed spiritual truths before returning him to his body and assigning him to a supernatural ministry. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: God has spoken to us in the Scriptures in divers portions and in divers manners; but the voice is ever the same it is always the Word of the same God.Hence the importance of treating the Bible as a whole and receiving the witness it gives in its various portions concerning certain definite truths. It is thus we learn to recognize the place these truths actually occupy in Revelation or rather in the Heart of God. Thus too we begin to discover what the foundation truths of the Bible are which above others demand attention. Standing as they do so prominently in each new departure in God's revelation; remaining unchanged when the Dispensation changes they carry a divine intimation of their importance.

Book excerpt: 2023 College Theology Society Best Book Award 2023 Catholic Media Association Third Place Award, Theology – Morality, Ethics, Christology, Mariology, and Redemption 2023 Association of Catholic Publishers Second Place Award, Theology Dust in the Blood considers the harrowing realities of life with depression from a Christian theological perspective. In conversation with popular Christian theologies of depression that justify why this suffering exists and prescribe how people ought to relate to it, Jessica Coblentz offers another Christian approach to this condition: she reflects on depression as a wilderness experience. Weaving first-person narratives of depression, contemporary theologies of suffering, and ancient biblical tales of the wilderness, especially the story of Hagar, Coblentz argues for and contributes to an expansion of Christian ideas about what depression is, how God relates to it, and how Christians should understand and respond to depression in turn.

Book Speaking with Vampires

Download or read book Speaking with Vampires written by Luise White and published by Univ of California Press. This book was released on 2023-04-28 with total page 374 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the colonial period, Africans told each other terrifying rumors that Africans who worked for white colonists captured unwary residents and took their blood. In colonial Tanganyika, for example, Africans were said to be captured by these agents of colonialism and hung upside down, their throats cut so their blood drained into huge buckets. In Kampala, the police were said to abduct Africans and keep them in pits, where their blood was sucked. Luise White presents and interprets vampire stories from East and Central Africa as a way of understanding the world as the storytellers did. Using gossip and rumor as historical sources in their own right, she assesses the place of such evidence, oral and written, in historical reconstruction. White conducted more than 130 interviews for this book and did research in Kenya, Uganda, and Zambia. In addition to presenting powerful, vivid stories that Africans told to describe colonial power, the book presents an original epistemological inquiry into the nature of historical truth and memory, and into their relationship to the writing of history.
