Book The Soldier Salesperson Selection and Basic Recruiter Training Issues in the U S Army

Download or read book The Soldier Salesperson Selection and Basic Recruiter Training Issues in the U S Army written by and published by . This book was released on 1989 with total page 25 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report is the last of five reports that document a program on recruiter productivity. This document presents the consolidated results and expands on research for an Army recruiter selection program analysis and a basic recruiter training program evaluation. A brief overview of each project is provided, as are recommendations for future practices. Results reported in this document are drawn from documents, interviews, and data collected from October 1987 through April 1989 at the U.S. Army Recruiting Command, Fort Sheridan, IL, and at the Recruiting and Retention School, Fort Harrison, IN. This research focused on improving recruiter productivity and investigated the potential of the Recruiter Selection Battery - Experimental (RSB-X) to predict performance on-the-job and in training. The project also investigated the quality of the formal school training provided to new recruiters.

Book An Annotated Bibliography of Recruiting Research Conducted by the U S Army Research Institute for the Behavioral and Social Sciences

Download or read book An Annotated Bibliography of Recruiting Research Conducted by the U S Army Research Institute for the Behavioral and Social Sciences written by Lisa M. Penney and published by . This book was released on 2000 with total page 56 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This is an annotated bibliography of research by the U.S. Army Research Institute for the Behavioral and Social Sciences (ARI) on Army recruiting. Most of the research covered in this report was conducted during the period 1980 and 1999. To provide a framework for this work the research summaries are organized around a model of Army recruitment showing the important factors contributing to successful recruiting. In the model, recruiter production is conceptualized as a joint function of recruiter performance and youths' propensity to enlist. Propensity to enlist is linked to advertising effects and several other environmental factors. Recruiters' performance, in turn, is influenced by their personal characteristics, the training and mentoring they receive, and the level of technical and organizational Support provided to them. The ARI research relating to each of these major components in the recruitment model is documented in this report."--DTIC.

This book was released on 2001 with total page 136 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This is an annotated bibliography of research conducted on military recruiting by the U.S. Army Research Institute for the Behavioral and Social Sciences (ARI), the other U.S. military services, and foreign military organizations. To provide a framework for the research summaries, they are organized around a model of military recruitment showing the important factors contributing to successful recruiting. The model contains the following factors: (1) personnel selection and assessment; (2) training and development; (3) recruiting management and organization; (4) recruiter performance; (3) marketing; (6) youth supply, characteristics, and influencers; (7) propensity; (8) enlistment decisions; and (9) delayed entry programs. One hundred fifty-one reports are summarized, describing recruiting research most relevant to the current U.S. military recruiting environment. It is hoped that the review provides a comprehensive yet concise picture of the research results generated by the U.S. Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and foreign service recruiting research communities."--DTIC.

Book Whence the Soldier of the Future

Download or read book Whence the Soldier of the Future written by Richard J. Koucheravy and published by . This book was released on 2001 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This paper analyzes the U.S. Army process for recruiting and training soldiers to determine if Army Transformation is properly geared toward manning the Objective Force. The study begins by analyzing the nature of the battlefield of 2020 in order to determine what skills and traits will be required of the Objective Force soldier. The study then goes on to review the Army process for selecting and recruiting soldiers, as well as any planned changes in those processes. Finally, the study reviews lessons learned from pertinent Army training and experiments, to include the Digital Division, the Army Experiment Program, and the Interim Brigade Combat Team (IBCT) to determine if there are any relevant lessons for training future soldiers. This study then concludes that the Army's manpower needs in the future will be for a far more qualitatively superior soldier than the Army of today: a soldier that is older, more educated, more computer literate and more capable of operating independently on the future battlefield; that Army recruiting and training systems are postured to deliver that soldier in 2020; that in lieu of universal service, the Army will need to be more competitive in recruiting in order to recruit soldiers with the requisite skills of the Objective Force.

Book Performance Under Stress

Download or read book Performance Under Stress written by James L Szalma and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2017-06-12 with total page 406 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The world is a dangerous place and recent events have served to make it less safe. There are many arenas of conflict and even combat across the world. Such situations are the quintessential expression of stress; you stand in imminent danger and live with the knowledge that you may be attacked, injured or even killed at any moment. How do people perform under these conditions? How do they keep a heightened level of vigilance when nothing may happen in their immediate location for weeks or even months? What happens when the bullets actually start flying? How is it you distinguish friend from foe, and each from innocent bystanders when in immediate peril of your life? Can we design technology to help people make good decisions in these ultimately hazardous situations? To what degree does your membership in a team act to dissipate these particular effects? Can we generate sufficiently stressful field exercises to simulate these conditions and can we train and/or select those most able to withstand such adverse conditions? How will the next generation of servicemen deal with these inherent problems? These are the sorts of questions that Performance Under Stress addresses. This book is derived largely from a multiple-year, multiple university initiative (MURI) on stress and soldier performance on the modern, electronic battlefield. It involved leading researchers from many institutions who have brought their individual expertise to bear on these crucial, contemporary concerns. United by a common research framework, these groups attacked the issue from different methodological and conceptual approaches, ranging from traditional laboratory modeling and experimentation, to realistic simulations; from involved field exercises to personal experiences of actual combat conditions. The insights generated have been distilled and presented as a benchmark of current understanding and provide future directions for research in this arena. Although this work focuses on soldier stress and soldier performance, the principles that are derived extend well beyond this single application. Their findings can be applied to people facing the demands of the business world or research as much as to those who meet life or death situations, such as homeland security, first responders, and law enforcement personnel.

Book excerpt: This report presents in briefing form a summary of the research conducted by the U.S. Army Research Institute for the Behavioral and Social Sciences (ARI) on Army recruiting and selected recruiting research from other Service laboratories. The briefing is organized around a model of Army recruitment that shows the important factors contributing to successful recruiting. The first section of the briefing outlines and explains the model and the subsequent sections review the research pertinent to each section of the model. The briefing concludes with summaries of the research findings in each area and directions for future research.
