Colford cover several different types of crises frequently encountered by professionals in medical, school, work, and community settings. Models for effectively managing these crises are presented along with the authors’ own step-by-step approach, the Listen–Assess–Plan–Commit (LAPC) model, giving students the freedom to select a model that best fits their personal style or a given crisis. Future mental health professionals will gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence to help their clients manage the crises they will encounter in their day-to-day lives.

Download or read book A Narrative of Events in the South of France written by Captain Sir John Henry Cooke and published by Pickle Partners Publishing. This book was released on 2012-05-01 with total page 267 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Captain Cooke’s narrative starts with the his experiences in the South of France during the last days of the Peninsular War, and combines part travelogue with witty reminiscences of the jollity after peace was declared in 1814. The society and manners of a bruised and touchy French populace ever ready to quarrel and duel are contrasted with the happiness of the British and some of their collaborators. The second part of his book is much more of a military point of view and focuses on the attack on New Orleans in 1814. Of the many amphibious operations undertaken by the British army; few have been as unsuccessful as the abortive attempt to capture New Orleans during the war of 1812 with America. It was an abortive operation during an abortive war from a British point of view; from the American side righteous indignation was mingled with an attempted land-grab whilst the enemy was engaged elsewhere, ended with bloody noses all-round. However the British Army’s new found reputation gained against Napoleon’s legions was severely dented by their failure to take New Orleans; Captain Cooke recounts the fiasco in all its details. His wry yet sensitive style is at home either in the mayhem of engagement or the critique of the operations as a whole. A relatively unknown treasure.

Download or read book What the Bible Really Says written by Thomas A. Howe and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2009-01-01 with total page 213 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The study of the End Times has been a popular topic for many years, and there are many different positions that are proposed on how to understand the unfolding of God's program. The debate over the End Times has often been heated and has failed to showcase the best that Christian scholarship has to offer. It sometimes seems like everyone wants to get in on the action, and anyone who has an audience can (and has) put together his thoughts and made his opinions known through the printed page. Anyone can publish his views regardless of the level of competency in the original languages, his level of hermeneutic ability, or his understanding of history or theology. In his book The Apocalypse Code, Hank Hanegraaff declares that his goal is to put hermeneutical tools into your hands so that you can draw from Scripture what God intends you to understand rather than uncritically accepting end-time models that may well be foreign to the text. It would be extremely helpful for someone to equip readers to be able to make their way through the maze of views. What the Bible Really Says? is a point-by-point analysis of the arguments of Hank Hanegraaff concerning end-times prophecy. This book is not an effort to promote one eschatological perspective over another. Rather it is an analysis of Hanegraaff's arguments and claims in order to discover whether or not he has succeeded in putting hermeneutical tools into the hands of his readers, or whether he has simply added his voice and his opinions to the cacophony of claims and counterclaims.
