Book excerpt: Kemp Hastings and his investigative colleague Doctor Darlene Gammay are pursued by the Grand Lodge of Cairo (GLOC) who are hellbent on murdering Darlene now that she has been given a glimpse into the afterlife having been gifted with the power of the ancient Egyptian ritual known as the Assignation. Darlene is transported into the afterlife and endures what she can only describe as a live and very disturbing embalming event, is this an ancient curse that has been bestowed upon the disbeliever or is this a step in our time for the betterment of mankind. Having had to flee from the Cairo museum to Malta the couple are accompanied by Professor Mohammed Elfecky who is working to a more deadly agenda. Has the Apostles Apostle Mary Magdalene really targeted Doctor Gammay by leaving a tattoed image spread across her back and shoulders, or is this an infliction delivered by an inexplicable series of circumstances that Kemp Hastings struggles to rationalise.

Book excerpt: Kemp Hastings a freelance troubleshooter for the Fisher Kings is tasked with authenticating an illuminated manuscript that has strong links to the crucufixion and may have been penned by Mary Magdalene herself. Hastings teams up with Dr Darlene Gammay a biblical studies teacher and embark on an adventure that results in an event that rocks the Papacy. In her efforts to research the parchment Darlene inadvertantly makes contact with the Sanctos Epistula (Letters of the Saints) and is burdened with a tattoo across her back and left shoulder that may reflect the true likeness of the Holiest of Mothers. The tattoo reflects the work of Gabriel Dante Rosetti's famous pre- raphaelite work from the late 18th century indicating that the artist may have had access to a more secret society. On discovering the tattoo Hastings finds that the manuscript that was hidden in his desk has returned to a simple blank parchment page of two thousand years ago In the interim period - a known Hellfire Corss Sword has been mysteriously removed from the secure archives of the vatican and the Pope has concerns over the safety of his flock.

Book The Commands of the Apostles

Download or read book The Commands of the Apostles written by Michael Phillips and published by Rosetta Books. This book was released on 2017-10-22 with total page 526 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The author of The Commands of Jesus presents a companion volume exploring 120 commands from the New Testament’s epistles and apostolic writings. Most studies of the epistles of the New Testament emphasize theology. In The Commands of the Apostles, noted devotional author Michael Phillips instead puts the focus of the practical commands of the Apostolic writers—and how we might follow them in our daily lives. Considering the important command found in Hebrews 6 1 2—“Let us go on to maturity”—Phillips suggests that spiritual maturity requires nothing more or less that attaining Christlikeness through obedience to commands. He therefore asks readers to put elementary doctrines aside and focus instead on the commands we as Christians are called upon to obey.

Book The Homilies On The Acts of the Apostles

Download or read book The Homilies On The Acts of the Apostles written by St. John Chrysostom and published by Jazzybee Verlag. This book was released on with total page 386 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As a commentary on the Acts of the Apostles, this Work stands alone among the writings of the first ten centuries. The Expositions of St. Clement of Alexandria (in the Hypotyposes), of Origen, of Diodorus of Tarsus, and St. Chrysostom's teacher, Theodore of Mopsuestia, as well as of Ammonius and others whose materials are used in the Catena, have perished. Those who are acquainted with the characteristic qualities of St. Chrysostom's exegesis, will perceive here also the same excellencies which mark his other expository works-especially the clear and full exposition of the historical sense, and the exact appreciation of the rhetorical momenta in the discourses of St. Peter, St. Stephen, St. James and St. Paul, as recorded in the Acts.

Intended to help preachers prepare sermons the commentary series is essentially biblical and evangelical catholic. This 19th century commentary has served as a standard reference for more than a century. Many early reviewers regarded Schaff's edition with his additional material as superior to the original. It has proven to be a complete and useful Commentary and continues to prove especially valuable to ministers. It contains critical annotations of the text and its translation, and a threefold commentary, exegetical, doctrinal, and homiletical. Under these three heads the text is viewed from every aspect.
