Book My First Piano Adventure Lesson Book A with CD

Download or read book My First Piano Adventure Lesson Book A with CD written by and published by Hal Leonard Corporation. This book was released on 2007-01-01 with total page 88 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: (Faber Piano Adventures ). Written for ages 5 and 6, My First Piano Adventure captures the child's playful spirit. Fun-filled songs, rhythm games and technique activities develop beginning keyboard skills. Three distinguishing features of the Lesson Book A make it unique and effective for the young 5-6 year old beginner. 1. A strong focus on technique embedded in the book through playful technique games, chants, and carefully-composed pieces that gently lead the child into pianistic motions. 2. An outstanding CD for the young student to listen, sing, tap, and play along with at the piano. The orchestrated songs on the CD feature children singing the lyrics, which has great appeal to the 5-6 year old beginner. The CD becomes a ready-made practice partner that guides the student and parent for all the pieces and activities in the books. 3. The fanciful art features five multi-cultural children who are also learning to play. These friends at the piano introduce basic rhythms, white key names, and a variety of white and black-key songs that span classical, folk, and blues. Young students will listen, sing, create, and play more musically with Nancy and Randall Faber s My First Piano Adventure, Lesson Book A. The Lesson Book introduces directional pre-reading, elementary music theory and technique with engaging songs, games, and creative discovery at the keyboard. Young students will enjoy the multi-cultural "friends at the piano" who introduce white-key names, basic rhythms, and a variety of songs which span classical, folk, and blues. Ear-training and eye-training are also part of the curriculum. The Fabers' instructional theory "ACE" - Analysis, Creativity, and Expression, guides the pedagogy of My First Piano Adventure. Analysis leads to understanding, creativity leads to self-discovery, and expression develops personal artistry. The CD for this book offers a unique listening experience with outstanding orchestrations and vocals. The recordings demonstrate a key principle of the course: when children listen, sing, tap, and move to their piano music, they play more musically. View Helpful Introductory Videos Here

Book The Miami Showband Massacre

Download or read book The Miami Showband Massacre written by Stephen Travers and published by Hodder Headline Ireland. This book was released on 2008 with total page 392 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'The suddenness of the punch had caught me off guard ... I knew then that something was definitely wrong.' On 31 July 1975, members of The Miami Showband were returning to Dublin after a gig in Banbridge when they were stopped at a border checkpoint. For Stephen Travers, the band's new bass player, it was an unusual experience but he wasn't too worried. However, as his band mates were lined up beside their vehicle Stephen noticed that the atmosphere had suddenly changed... something more sinister was happening. In a flash their lives were dramatically altered when a bomb that was being placed in the back of their van suddenly exploded prematurely. The events of that night would never leave Stephen Travers - being hurled into the air by the explosion, listening to the cries of his friends as they were mercilessly gunned down and the steps of the gunmen getting closer as they approached to finish him off... What is it like to survive such an atrocity? To live when all around you others died? In The Miami Showband Massacre, Stephen Travers remembers the highs of being in the most successful showband of the 1970s and how it all ended in a terrifying moment of death and destruction. But he also looks for answers as to why his friends - Tony Geraghty, Fran O'Toole and Brian McCoy - were killed. Who ordered the ambush? What drove them to such an act? Stephen wants to understand, but will he find the answers when he meets the men responsible for the massacre face to face?

Book Red Seven Columbia Showband Arklow

Download or read book Red Seven Columbia Showband Arklow written by Joe Weadick and published by New Generation Publishing. This book was released on 2018-04-09 with total page 284 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The memoirs of Arklow's Red Seven/Columbia Showband as told by its members and some close associates in their individual interesting stories - warts and all - from its formation in 1960 to its demise in 1969. They also give a great insight into the showband era.NEWSWORTHY NOTES FOR BOOK INFO1. In 2001 the then President of Ireland Mary McAleese recognised the musicians of the sixties showband era for giving a generation of Irish citizens wonderful entertainment and lifelong priceless memories.2. The Irish Government recognised and celebrated the Showband Era of the sixties by the immortalisation of a representative number of showbands on Irish postage stamps'.3. Arklow historian Jim Rees, when he was launching the book in 2011, said that in telling our story it tells the story of 90% of the showbands in Ireland. That's what makes it such a valuable and important social history book.4. The author is convinced that our stories about the showband era of the sixties makes it one of the most important Irish social/music history books of the twentieth century.5. Paranormal Experience. One very stormy night as the band drove home after playing in Eniscrone a distressed girl in her teens or early twenties was on the side of the road thumbing a lift. The driver pulled in and offered her a lift home. She got into the minibus and when asked what about the boy on the side of the road she said he is ok, go ahead. To get the rest of the story you may read the book....'6. If one thinks back to the phenomenon of the sixties showband era you can only wonder why the citizens of Ireland seemed to awaken from a long suppressed sleep and unleash energies they never realised they had.7. There is a copy of my book in the libraries of every University in Ireland. There is also a copy of the book in the Music History Museum in Galway.8. Mr Michael Murphy who lectures in the Dunlaoire IT College said that of all the books he read about the showband era of the sixties my book was the most detailed and accurate.9. My most enjoyable experience was playing in the Gresham Ballroom in London. It had a unique revolving stage . We started playing as it was moving and got a tumultuous applause when we came in view of the four thousand or so dancers. At the same time the resident orchestra was still playing as they were moving out of sight. A wonderful sight to behold.

Book America the Band

Download or read book America the Band written by Jude Warne and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2020-05-15 with total page 284 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As if recovering from a raucous dream of the 1960s, Gerry Beckley, Dewey Bunnell, and Dan Peek arrived on 1970s American radio with a sound that echoed disenchanted hearts of young people everywhere. The three American boys had named their band after a country they’d watched and dreamt of from their London childhood Air Force base homes. What was this country? This new band? Classic and timeless, America embodied the dreams of a nation desperate to emerge from the desert and finally give their horse a name. Celebrating the band’s fiftieth anniversary, Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell share stories of growing up, growing together, and growing older. Journalist Jude Warne weaves original interviews with Beckley, Bunnell, and many others into a dynamic cultural history of America, the band, and America, the nation. Reliving hits like “Ventura Highway,” “Tin Man,” and of course, “A Horse with No Name” from their 19 studio albums and incomparable live recordings, this book offers readers a new appreciation of what makes some music unforgettable and timeless. As America’s music stays in rhythm with the heartbeats of its millions of fans, new fans feel the draw of a familiar emotion. They’ve felt it before in their hearts and thanks to America, they can now hear it, share it, and sing along.

Book A Light That Never Goes Out

Download or read book A Light That Never Goes Out written by Tony Fletcher and published by Crown Archetype. This book was released on 2012-12-04 with total page 722 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The definitive book about The Smiths, one of the most beloved, respected, and storied indie rock bands in music history. They were, their fans believe, the best band in the world. Hailing from Manchester, England, The Smiths--Morrissey, Johnny Marr, Andy Rourke, and Mike Joyce--were critical and popular favorites throughout their mid-1980s heyday and beyond. To this day, due to their unforgettable songs and lyrics, they are considered one of the greatest British rock groups of all time--up there with the Beatles, the Stones, the Who, and the Clash. Tony Fletcher paints a vivid portrait of the fascinating personalities within the group: Morrissey, the witty, literate lead singer whose loner personality and complex lyrics made him an icon for teenagers who felt forlorn and forgotten; his songwriting partner Marr, the gregarious guitarist who became a rock god for a generation of indie kids; and the talented, good-looking rhythm section duo of bassist Rourke and drummer Joyce. Despite the band's tragic breakup at the height of their success, A Light That Never Goes Out is a celebration: the saga of four working-class kids from a northern English city who come together despite contrasting personalities, find a musical bond, inspire a fanatical following, and leave a legacy that changed the music world--and the lives of their fans.

Katja, like everyone else stuck on the work island they call home, wants to get to the mainland by any means necessary. Shooting her boyfriend and stealing a chemical vial is one way to ensure her safe passage; the only problem is, she’s not the only one who wants the precious chemical—or the freedom it will bring. There’s Nikolai the joystick junkie; Aleksakhina, Katja’s parole officer; Vladimir Kohl, the small-time chemical dealer, and his boss Szerynski; the rival chemical lord Dracyev, and his lover, Ylena. And then there’s the Man In Red, ready and waiting for whoever is (un)lucky enough to end up with the vial. Winner of the Fireball Award, Katja From the Punk Band is Jackie Brown meets the Sex Pistols, “an excellent and fast-paced industrial crime novel,” and book one in the thrilling Katja series (Colleen Wanglund, The Horror Fiction Review).
