Book THE SECRETS TO AVOIDING STRONG DRAWINGS WEAK PATENT

Download or read book THE SECRETS TO AVOIDING STRONG DRAWINGS WEAK PATENT written by Autrige Nyemah Dennis and published by Autrige Nyemah Dennis. This book was released on 2017-11-17 with total page 202 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Help Available for Labelling Your Drawings PATENT DRAWING LABELLING Now that you have had your patent drawings completed by the patent illustrator, the next step is to label your drawing. "Label the drawing? What is that?" I get this from inventors all the time. In this chapter we will discuss what is the purpose of adding reference lines and numbers on a drawing, and how a well labeled drawing can help you write a good provisional patent specification. We will also show you how to label your drawing yourself. Why Label Your Drawing? Labelling the drawing is one of the most important part of preparing your patent application. Many inventors do not know why the drawings are labelled. When you send your invention document to the patent office, you will not be there to explain the details of your invention, you will not be able to pull your invention apart and explain how things will work. The drawing, the reference numbers and your written explanation will do the explaining for you. Therefore, what you explain is very important. Think about it like this: Provisional and Non-Provisional Patent drawings are created to be explained. The explanation of the invention is in the drawing. The drawings can only be explained properly by use of reference numbers and lines. The reference numbers are names of parts of the invention and the reference lines can be compared to your finger pointing to the parts you are explaining. If the drawing is not properly labelled it cannot be explained properly. If the drawing is not explained properly the strength of the invention will be weak. After a drawing is filed, you cannot come back to explain something new or something you forgot to mention. How to make sure your drawing is properly labeled? What if you don't know how to label a drawing? Many inventors offer to pay us to simply help label their drawings. Labelling the drawings can be very expensive because it takes time and good arrangement. Fortunately for you, you don't have to worry. The book will guide you in every step of the way. It explains the details of labelling your own drawing in an easy to follow way. If you still feel you will need help after reading this book, you can always ask the author of the book at ASCADEX for assistance. Let's begin by first pointing out the wrong way to label a drawing. Knowing the wrong way and why it is wrong will help you understand how to label your drawings the right way. When preparing their application, both the inventor and the patent attorney rely on the patent illustrator for good drawings that will bring out the invention. The difference between the two is that the attorney will label his drawing better than the inventor would, which will lead to better explanation on the part of the patent attorney. Take for example the example drawing (EX-1) shown in this book. As a patent illustrator, as soon as I learn that an inventor will be preparing his own application I usually make it my personal responsibility to guide them on the right path. I will try my best to produce the best drawing for my inventor clients with the hope that like the patent attorney, they would know how to label the drawings after it is completed. I sometimes include extra drawings without charge that I think they may need to help make their application stronger. After preparing all the wonderful drawings and emailed them to the inventor as shown in example drawing (EX-1) to be labelled, some inventors may label their drawing like what is shown in image (EX-2) below.

Book A Patent System for the 21st Century

Download or read book A Patent System for the 21st Century written by National Research Council and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2004-10-01 with total page 186 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The U.S. patent system is in an accelerating race with human ingenuity and investments in innovation. In many respects the system has responded with admirable flexibility, but the strain of continual technological change and the greater importance ascribed to patents in a knowledge economy are exposing weaknesses including questionable patent quality, rising transaction costs, impediments to the dissemination of information through patents, and international inconsistencies. A panel including a mix of legal expertise, economists, technologists, and university and corporate officials recommends significant changes in the way the patent system operates. A Patent System for the 21st Century urges creation of a mechanism for post-grant challenges to newly issued patents, reinvigoration of the non-obviousness standard to quality for a patent, strengthening of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, simplified and less costly litigation, harmonization of the U.S., European, and Japanese examination process, and protection of some research from patent infringement liability.

Book Technology and the Public Interest

Download or read book Technology and the Public Interest written by Haochen Sun and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2022-04-21 with total page 205 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this groundbreaking work, Haochen Sun analyzes the ethical crisis unfolding at the intersection of technology and the public interest. He examines technology companies' growing power and their increasing disregard for the public good. To tackle this asymmetry of power and responsibility, he argues that we must reexamine the nature and scope of the right to technology and dynamically protect it as a human right under international law, a collective right under domestic civil rights law, and potentially a fundamental right under domestic constitutional law. He also develops the concept of fundamental corporate responsibility requiring technology companies to compensate users for their contributions, assume an active role responsibility in upholding the public interest, and counter injustices caused by technological developments.

Book The Great Art of Light and Shadow

Download or read book The Great Art of Light and Shadow written by Laurent Mannoni and published by . This book was released on 2000 with total page 584 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Widely regarded by historians of the early moving picture as the best work yet published on pre-cinema, The Great Art of Light and Shadow: Archaeology of the Cinema throws light on a fascinating range of optical media from the twelfth century to the turn of the twentieth. First published in French in 1994 and now translated into English, Laurent Mannoni's account projects a broad picture of the subject area now known as 'pre-cinema'. Starting from the earliest uses of the camera obscura in astronomy and entertainment, Mannoni discusses, among many other devices, the invention and early years of the magic lantern in the seventeenth century, the peepshows and perspective views of the eighteenth century, and the many weird and wonderful nineteenth-century attempts to recreate visions of real life in different ways and forms. This fully-illustrated and accessible account of a strange mixture of science, magic, art and deception introduces to an English-speaking readership many aspects of pre-cinema history from other European countries.

Book Intellectual Property Management for Start ups

Download or read book Intellectual Property Management for Start ups written by Martin A. Bader and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-02-16 with total page 522 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book examines intellectual property (IP) as an important value driver for start-ups. Businesses of all sizes are inevitably confronted with intellectual property issues at some point, but start-ups and their collaborators face unique challenges and opportunities in IP management. Identifying, generating, and exploiting intellectual property can lead to sustainable competitive advantages and avoidance of risks. Many start-ups sense the complexity of IP management and therefore place their energy elsewhere. However, the clear conclusion to be drawn from this unique collection of contributions is that putting an IP management strategy in place is critical to the successful development of a business. Prof. Dr. Martin A. Bader and Prof. Dr. Sevim Süzeroğlu-Melchiors have years of experience as consultants, entrepreneurs, business owners, and researchers where they saw firsthand the need for a comprehensive yet practical resource for start-ups and their key stakeholders. This book explores different perspectives in dealing with IP from six different angles: the start-up’s view, the investor’s view, the corporation’s view, the university’s view, the global IP office’s view, and the advisor’s view. Each section consists of chapters written by leading experts from around the globe including Silicon Valley, Canada, Israel, Switzerland, Germany, Finland, France, Australia, Brazil, India, Japan, Singapore, and South Africa. Contributors bring practical experience from a wide range of sectors, such as information and communication technology, software, artificial intelligence, machine learning, cybersecurity, industrial automation, internet of things, life sciences, pharma, crop science, biotech, medtech, mining, sustainability, climate tech, and even quantum technologies. This timely publication serves as a guidebook for entrepreneurs and other key stakeholders in the start-up ecosystem. It empowers founders to develop their own IP management strategy to mitigate risk, create and capture value, and lay the groundwork for sustainable growth. An essential reference for start-ups to achieve business excellence. “This edited book volume offers valuable insights, bringing together perspectives of key stakeholder groups from a wide variety of innovation ecosystems – an invaluable resource.” —Carsten Fink, Chief Economist, World Intellectual Property Organization, Geneva “A timely book for those wanting a clear overview of the issues the different players encounter in the start-up ecosystem.
