Book The Secret of the Plumed Serpent

Download or read book The Secret of the Plumed Serpent written by Armando Torres and published by Hade Publishing Limited. This book was released on 2014 with total page 254 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The Secret of the Plumed Serpent," the second book of the elusive author and healer Armando Torres follows his bestseller "Encounters with the Nagual," where he describes his friendship with Carlos Castaneda, the controversial author of twelve best-selling books recounting Castaneda's apprenticeship with don Juan Matus, a Yaqui sorcerer and custodian of ancestral knowledge that has flourished for thousands of years in what is now Mexico and parts of Central America. Here, eight years later (the original Spanish edition was published in 2010), Torres continues his account of his experiences on the path of sorcerer-healer, the account he began and then abruptly broke off in the last chapter of the "Encounters with the Nagual." His simple, functional narrative opens an astounding vista of secret ceremonies, solemn incantations and magical beings roaming the otherworld, but also of relentless discipline and of unquenchable passion for absolute freedom his teachers the healers inherited from their ancestors, the Toltecs: masterful sorcerers, artists and men of knowledge dedicated to discovering the secret of existence. It is the secret of Quetzalcoatl, the Plumed Serpent, the gateway to infinity. As Torres works his way towards the final revelation, terror and wonder mingle with moments of earthy comedy, deliciously seasoned with the irony, wit and practical jokes of his friend and mentor Carlos. Somewhere in the anonymity of Mexican countryside, Armando's quest for freedom and impeccability continues.

Book Legends of the Plumed Serpent

Download or read book Legends of the Plumed Serpent written by Neil Baldwin and published by PublicAffairs. This book was released on 2012-08-28 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Meticulously pieced together from personal experiences that come with years of travel, an extensive knowledge of the historic and scholarly works, and a deep appreciation of Latin American art and culture—both ancient and modern—critically-acclaimed biographer Neil Baldwin has created a mosaic of words and images retelling the myth of the Plumed Serpent (or Quetzalcóatl) as it has evolved through the millennia. He has also created an essential guidebook for the armchair traveller and passionate tourist alike. Only a few hours by air from the United States are the mysteries and hauntingly beautiful ruins of Mexico. Among the vines intertwined in the frail latticework of crumbling palaces, spiraling geometric motifs covering vast walls that sink beneath the jungle, and nearly vertical temple steps leading hundreds of feet to a dizzying view of sky and earth, images of Quetzalcóatl abound. The fanged, bug-eyed feathered serpent thrusts his malevolent, sneering head from the pyramid at Teotihuacán; he swims in a river of rock around the temple at Xochicalco; and at Chichén Itzá, serpent and jaguar dance on a trail of stone, their embrace spawning a monstrous snake with clawed forefeet. Depicted as part man, snake, and bird, the Plumed Serpent is the earliest known creation myth from Mesoamerica, the region spanning Mexico and most of Central America. He embodies good and evil, sky and earth, feast and famine—the duality of life itself. Steep, massive temples were built in his honor at Teotihuacán, the vast city of ruins near today’s Mexico City, and at Chichén Itzá in northern Yucatán, the intricate complex that includes the famed ballcourt. Moctezuma, the ruler of the Aztecs, mistook Hernán Cortéz and the invasion of the Spanish in 1519 for the return of Quetzalcóatl. The Catholic Church with its army of Franciscan monks adapted his legend to introduce the indigenous people to Catholicism. The myth enhanced Emiliano Zapata’s stature as a latter-day Quetzalcóatl during the Mexican Revolution. Diego Rivera and the modern muralists invoked his image to include indigenous themes in their state-sponsored art. And Quetzalcóatl inspired English author D. H. Lawrence to write a new “American novel.” These and many other tales are recounted in the words and images of Neil Baldwin’s Legends of the Plumed Serpent. Whether sharing a moment of reflection among the breathtaking ruins, delving into the historic role of Quetzalcóatl during the Spanish Conquest, or tracing the themes of revolution and rebirth in the art of Rivera, Orozco, and Siqueiros, Neil Baldwin’s enlightening prose captures the imagination. Accompanied by numerous illustrations—many photographs taken by the author, and others painstakingly researched and gathered over the past decade—Legends of the Plumed Serpent is a true labor of love.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: According to ancient records, the patriarchs and founders of the early civilizations in Egypt, India, China, Peru, Mesopotamia, Britain, and the Americas were colonized by the Serpents of Wisdom-spiritual masters associated with the serpent-who arrived in these lands after abandoning their beloved homelands and crossing great seas. While bearing names denoting snake or dragon (such as Naga, Lung, Djedhi, Amaru, Quetzalcoatl, Adder, etc.), these Serpents of Wisdom oversaw the construction of magnificent civilizations within which they and their descendants served as the priest kings and as the enlightened heads of mystery school traditions. The Return of the Serpents of Wisdom recounts the history of these “Serpents”-where they came from, why they came, the secret wisdom they disseminated, and why they are returning now.

Book excerpt: Carlos Castaneda is one of the most widely read authors in history. And the twelve books he has written tell us about his unique experiences with don Juan Matus, an Indian shaman sage he once apprenticed. However, the extraordinarily profound subjects described by Castaneda have not to this day been fully understood, and they still stand as a raw material. So, the sole purpose of this book is to process this raw material and reveal the true meaning of what Castaneda speaks of in his books. On the other hand, this is not only a book of "What did Castaneda actually mean?" It analyzes what he has written in a simple and understandable manner, as it has never before been done, even moving to an upper level to reveal it is actually a sort of "science". Therefore, just like the "science of matter", it is also a kind of science. And considering the importance of the creation of all things in this universe as polar twins by God Almighty, this science also claims its place in this universe as the opposite twin of modern science, forming the other side of the coin. God Almighty allows the flourishing of the "Science of Seers" in an isolated place such as Central America, far away from the "Known World". Then, by sending an anthropologist there such as Castaneda, He enables all this information to make an appearance on the stage of history. This information becoming known through Castaneda, also makes it possible for us to carry out a cross-check of the science of matter. Although the science of matter and the science of seers are poles apart, there is a common ground where they meet: to reject the religion and God Almighty as its Owner. Even though their backgrounds are completely different from each other, these two sciences deny the religion. But at the same time, they also refuse to acknowledge each other, and both claim to be "the only truth". On the other hand, don Juan states, "Our minds can only be a witness to this universe, having nothing to say about it." Therefore, each of these two sciences actually takes the stand as a witness to this universe. And the Almighty God, "who taught man what he did not know," manifests to us the true nature of the things they bear witness to. Thus, while explaining the collection of knowledge revealed by the "seers", this book also places it safely on a cornerstone and explains it in the light of the Koran. Because the Koran not only clarifies many arguments used by the seers, but also displays that God Almighty is their real Owner. On the other hand, just like the scientists, the seers also suggest that their knowledge is the one and only, which is not the case. Because God Almighty reveals their knowledge and much more to us in the Holy Koran. Therefore, this book also contains information about Islam, and in fact, shows us that it is something very different from what is described on televisions and newspapers. Moreover, it speaks of the Prophets as Jesus and Moses mentioned in the Koran while making references to the seers.

Download or read book The Master Game written by Graham Hancock and published by Red Wheel Weiser. This book was released on 2011-09-13 with total page 674 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Master Game is a rollercoaster intellectual journey through the back streets and rat runs of history to uncover the traces in architecture and monuments of a secret religion that has shaped the world. Pivotal historical events and processes, not least the Renaissance, the birth of scientific rationalism, and the French and American revolutions, are radically reevaluated in the light of new investigative evidence presented in The Master Game. Even the belief that the United States has a "global mission," so obvious today, may ultimately prove to be less the result of a shortterm reaction to terrorism than the inevitable working out of a covert plan originally set in motion almost two thousand years ago. The Master Game refers to a scheme or "game" played on the world stage to bring about a world order governed by a lofty goal which, today, we term the "Masonic Ideal." The Master Game traces the origins of this game of symbols and words and talismans from ancient Egypt all the way to modern times, and places it squarely on the elitist Scottish Rite Freemasonry, headquartered in Washington, DC, and ruled by a secretive and powerful brotherhood of men who have attained the thirtythird degree. The Master Game exposes this world order's true purpose and, more importantly, shows how it has affected the United States of America and badly backfired on 9/11. The book is adapted and expanded from the authors' earlier, outofprint book Talisman.

Book excerpt: Graham Hancock, an expert in ancient civilisations and author of the 9 million selling Fingerprints of the Gods, and expert too, on the use of hallucinogens to achieve higher states of consciousness, brings these two interests together in the second volume of the War God trilogy. The conquistador Hernán Cortés is dreaming of Tenochtitlan, the golden city of Aztecs. But in order to win the Aztecs' gold, Cortés and his small force of just five hundred men will have to defeat the psychotic emperor Moctezuma and the armies of hundreds of thousands he commands. Cortés expects that the Tlascalans, hereditary enemies of the Aztecs, will join him, but instead finds himself locked in a deadly struggle. As Cortés risks all against the Tlascalans, he plays mind games with Moctezuma, aiming to defeat the Aztec emperor psychologically before ever having to face him in battle. In this he is aided by his lover Malinal, a beautiful Mayan princess. It is from Malinal that Cortés learns of the myth of Quetzalcoatl, 'The Plumed Serpent'. She shows him how to exploit the prophecy of the fabled god king's return to weaken Moctezuma's resolve and keep alive the suspicion that the conquistador might actually be Quetzalcoatl himself.

Book excerpt: I have come to understand that it matters little what is kept or revealed because if the one who receives the information does not have enough energy, the revealed knowledge means nothing. So that the secrets end up being just another expression of personal importance and they come out superfluous."The warrior begins with a myth, something comes that words, then reach a supreme level of understanding that some would qualify as faith, but in reality it is much more than that, it is a mental state in which the inflexible intent is possessed of him, from there he gets such a state of realization that he literally walks on a metaphorical bridge of his own creation, as long as his personal power lasts, he will be able to continue walking perhaps forever"."The attempt is the force of alignment that is behind everything that exists when we make a decision, or in some way compromise our will, we can say that we are exercising the attempt because each action affects the infinite."Usually these signs are indications of how to proceed, or in which direction to go. So that once the warrior surrenders entirely to power, it will guide him through unthinkable adventures, where the being is transformed into a tool of intent, and thus reaches its fullness."Behind the noise of the world, and even behind the noise of our own mind, there is a corner of peace, it is like the eye of a hurricane where everything is calm even when there is a storm around. In that corner of silence, it is possible to hear the whispers of the spirit, telling us what it is, and which way to go. The task of searching for that special place within oneself can cost a great effort, but once you get to that corner of silence, it doesn't matter how much noise or movement there is outside, because then you have found your center and nothing can move you from there"."With every decision, one plays life, or no one knows behind what door death is waiting for us."

Book Encounter with the Plumed Serpent

Download or read book Encounter with the Plumed Serpent written by Maarten Jansen and published by University Press of Colorado. This book was released on 2017-10-01 with total page 417 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Mixtec, or the people of Ñuu Savi ('Nation of the Rain God'), one of the major civilizations of ancient Mesoamerica, made their home in the highlands of Oaxaca, where they resisted both Aztec military expansion and the Spanish conquest. In Encounter with the Plumed Serpent, two leading scholars present and interpret the sacred histories narrated in the Mixtec codices, the largest surviving collection of pre-Columbian manuscripts in existence. In these screenfold books, ancient painter-historians chronicled the politics of the Mixtec from approximately a.d. 900 to 1521, portraying the royal families, rituals, wars, alliances, and ideology of the times. By analyzing and cross-referencing the codices, which have been fragmented and dispersed in far-flung archives, the authors attempt to reconstruct Mixtec history. Their synthesis here builds on long examination of the ancient manuscripts. Adding useful interpretation and commentary, Jansen and Pérez Jiménez synthesize the large body of surviving documents into the first unified narrative of Mixtec sacred history. Archaeologists and other scholars as well as readers with an interest in Mesoamerican cultures will find this lavishly illustrated volume a compelling and fascinating history and a major step forward in knowledge of the Mixtec.
