Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A search for the CP-violating electric dipole (E1) direct emission contribution to the KL → [pi]+[pi]-[gamma] decay is performed using data from the 1997 KTeV/E832 experiment. Because the KL → [pi]+[pi]-[gamma] decay mode is massively dominated by the CP-violating inner bremsstrahlung (IB) and the CP-conserving magnetic dipole (M1) direct emission processes, previous analyses have neglected the E1 contribution. Therefore, this measurement is the first attempt to directly quantify the size of the E1 decay process. This E1 transition is one of the very few CP-violating processes that is accessible to experiment and, in principle, will produce new insights into the structure of the neutral kaon. The result of this analysis is that the E1 contribution is below the threshold of sensitivity, and therefore an upper bound of

I have seen no review comparable to the excellent summary of electric dipole moments by S Barr and W Marciano … the volume offers a generally readable entry into this field for a reader who has a basic background in particle physics.” John F Donoghue Science “… this book performs a very useful service for anyone active or interested in CP violation, both as a source of primary information and as a work of reference.” K J Peach J Phys. Book Addendum to the Test of CP Violation in Tau Decay

Download or read book Addendum to the Test of CP Violation in Tau Decay written by and published by . This book was released on 1995 with total page 8 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We discuss the test of CP and CPT violation in Tau decay without using the polarized electron beam by comparing partial fractions of tau( - ) and tau(+) decay into channels with strong final state interactions. For example, gamma(tau( - ) right arrow pi( - ) + pi(0) + nu) not equal gamma(tau(+) right arrow pi(+) + pi(0) + nu) signifies violation of CP. The optimum energy to investigate CP violation in tau decay is discussed. We conclude that this energy is a few MeV below psi(2s) in order to avoid the charm contribution and over abundance of hadrons at the psi(2s) peak.

Book Simultaneous Measurement of KS and KL Decays Into

Download or read book Simultaneous Measurement of KS and KL Decays Into written by and published by . This book was released on with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With the E731 apparatus at Fermilab, we have simultaneously collected 6859 K(L) and K(S) decays into pi+pi-gamma. Using our sample of over 370000 pi+pi- decays for normalization we have determined that the ratio GAMMA(K0 --> pi+pi-gamma)/GAMMA(K0 --> pi+pi- ) is (23.0 +/- 0.7) x 10( -3) for K(L) and (7.10 +/- 0.22) x 10( -3) for K(S), for photon energies greater than 20 MeV in the kaon center of mass. After removing the inner-bremsstrahlung contribution, we find that the photon energy spectrum of the direct emission decay of the K(L) is consistent with the presence of a vector meson propagator in the form factor.

Book Probing the Standard Model and Beyond with CP Violation and Particle Cosmology

Download or read book Probing the Standard Model and Beyond with CP Violation and Particle Cosmology written by Michael Paul Savastio and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We discuss topics related to CP violation and particle cosmology. First, we present some developments in improving the extraction of the CP violating parameter [gamma] from the decay B± [RIGHTWARDS ARROW] DK ± followed by the subsequent decay D [RIGHTWARDS ARROW] KS [pi]+ [pi][-] . The mixing of the final state kaon is an additional CP violating effect which should be taken into account in the extraction of [gamma], and we discuss how this should be done. We also discuss the optimization of phase space binning needed to extract [gamma] from these decays in a model independent way. Next, we discuss some cosmological constraints on R-parity violating, Minimally Flavor Violating (MFV) Supersymmetry (SUSY). Finally, we show that oribtally excited dark matter cannot persist over cosmic timescales for various model independent reasons.

Book Search for CP Violation in the Decay Tau to Pi K0 S

Download or read book Search for CP Violation in the Decay Tau to Pi K0 S written by and published by . This book was released on 2012 with total page 7 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We report a search for CP violation in the decay?− →?−K{sub S}°({>=} 0?°)?{sub?} using a dataset of 437 million {tau} lepton pairs, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 476 fb−1, collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric energy ee− storage rings. The CP-violating decay-rate asymmetry is determined to be ( -0.45 ± 0.24 ± 0.11)%, approximately three standard deviations from the Standard Model prediction of (0.33 ± 0.01)%.
