He also co-authored with KS Vincent POON A Narrative on Calligraphy by Sun Guoting (英譯書譜), English Translation of Classical Chinese Calligraphy Masterpieces (英譯法書), and An English Translation and the Correct Interpretation of Laozi’s Tao Te Ching (英譯並正解老子道德經) Kwan Sheung Vincent Poon (潘君尚, 1979-) was born in Hong Kong and studied at Ying Wa College as well as the University of Toronto, where he completed his BSc, MSc and BEd degrees. Being the top undergraduate in Biochemistry, he is currently a teacher at the Toronto District School Board as well as a calligrapher and a translator. His passion for Chinese culture began at the age of six when he started studying Chinese calligraphy under his father Kwok Kin POON (潘國鍵, PhD). His books include A Narrative on Calligraphy by Sun Guoting (英譯書譜), English Translation of Classical Chinese Calligraphy Masterpieces (英譯法書), as well as An English Translation and the Correct Interpretation of Laozi’s Tao Te Ching (英譯並正解老子道德經).

As a thorough investigation of the similarity of Constable's and Monet's attitude toward nature would take too much space, I must leave it to the reader to make for himself, and he will find that the two themes of the impressionist's song, the laws of light and the frailty of the eye, are, as our ultrapleinairists have asserted, first to be found in England. One element in the evolution of impressionism frequently is overlooked, and that is the all-powerful influence of Turner. Turner's name at present unfortunately is suffering from the overpraise of the well-meaning but too often illogical Ruskin, so it may be interesting to note that Monet himself on repeated occasions has stated that it is to Turner more than to any other painter that he owes his inspiration. It is true that many of the optical truths insisted upon by Constable were overlooked by Turner; but the latter on the other hand gave many expositions of the psychology of the eye that no one else ever has made clearer. While acknowledging, however, their descent from the artists across the Channel, the impressionists count it their chief glory to have founded themselves upon science. They assert that they are the only painters who approach nature without a pre-conceived idea; that all they carry to it are the formulae of Helmholtz, Chevreul and Rood; and that...
