Book The Scarlet Thread Through the Bible

Download or read book The Scarlet Thread Through the Bible written by Matthew Jury and published by . This book was released on 2014-07-01 with total page 40 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The late preacher W. A. Criswell used to preach a series of sermons called the Scarlet Thread through the Bible. Cut the Bible open at any verse, and it will bleed Christ. Christ IS the Word of God! Studying a book written by an infinitely wise God having an infinite number of personal applications, the study of the trail of blood could be taken through a host of different trails. To pursue just one trail is a monumental task. The verses examined in this booklet will only be representative because every book of the Bible contains Christ, often in a multitude of ways. Some might say, 'I know that Christ is revealed in the Scriptures. What is the purpose of this booklet?' Jesus Christ took time to expound the Scriptures concerning Himself. On the road to Emmaus we see Christ preaching and teaching. "And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself." Jesus began in Genesis and taught through the Old Testament the Scriptures concerning Himself. May the reader say with the men whom Jesus taught that day, "And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?" May the reader want to experience heart burn like those men did that day.

Book excerpt: What happens when the king’s most obedient soldier is issued a wicked command? Benaiah is valiant against men and beasts. He is known for three heroic deeds that lead to his appointment in the elite force of David’s Mighty Men: aggressively going down into a pit on a snowy day to kill a lion; fighting two Moabite ariels; and challenging a giant Egyptian the size of David’s Goliath, armed with only a staff, and killing him with the man’s own spear. When David is crowned king, Benaiah is made his chief bodyguard and eventually head of the whole army of Israel under King Solomon. Reeling from the tragic cost of disobedience when he was young, Benaiah directs his life toward one chief aim: to be found a faithful, loyal, valiant and obedient soldier, servant of the King and follower of Yahweh. But when “just following orders” leads to his part in adultery, murder and death, he questions his life’s direction. If both obedience and disobedience cause death, how can he ever find redemption?

Jesus’ beautiful and terrible death on the cross is central to the story of that scarlet thread, but there is more to the story. To understand the scarlet thread fully, we must look at the sanctuary: the holy ground that offers a glimpse of God’s character and His plan of redemption. Mysterious and often misunderstood, the sanctuary is at the very heart of biblical theology. Where God and I Meet will help you achieve greater understanding of the heavenly sanctuary, the Israelite sanctuary, the pre-Advent judgment, and Christ’s sacrifice and high-priestly ministry. You’ll come to grasp how the sanctuary interconnects with salvation, prophecy, and mission. But most important, you will see how the precious scarlet thread weaves a message of hope and redemption throughout every page of the Bible.

My name is Kaidance Monroe, and sometimes when I touch people, I see how they die. I've always considered it a curse. After I saw my little brother's death but failed to stop it, my parents abandoned me to a juvenile detention facility. I don't let people touch me any more. Now I'm in a creepy mansion full of dark secrets, learning how to control abilities so powerful, even the gods are jealous. I didn't mean to make anyone fall for me. Certainly not my would-be killer. And I never imagined how far he would fall. He opened his heart to let me in, and I destroyed his universe. I'll do anything to make it right again, even if it means challenging my own fate. Luckily, I'm the only one who can. Broken promises. Shattered dreams. Bitter remorse. He's taken everything from me. I come to him bare, naked, revealed. Trembling in the darkness. But I can't ask for forgiveness, and I'm not looking for mercy. All I want is revenge - and when I see him again, face-to-face, I know, next time, I'll be strong enough to defeat him. Book Love Worth Finding 25 Pack

Download or read book Love Worth Finding 25 Pack written by Adrian Rogers and published by Crossway Books. This book was released on 2016-01-31 with total page 6 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Psychologists have long known that every person has two great longings and inward needs. The first is to be loved, and the second is to love. But when pressures and heartaches come into our lives, many give up any hope of ever finding love. The tragedy is that we often look in the wrong places to fill this deep need and longing. Some substitute lust for love. Others pursue material things or superficial relationships--all in the futile attempt to fill a God-shaped vacuum in the human heart. But there is good news! There is a love worth finding and a love worth sharing. The Bible says, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16). On the cross of Christ, God's mighty love was revealed and offered unconditionally to all who would be saved. Do you long to know this mighty love? Then I need to ask you the most important question you'll ever be asked: Do you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that God loves you, that your sins are forgiven, and that you are saved and on your way to heaven? The great news is, you can know! Let me share with you how to discover the greatest love worth finding. Admit Your Sin. First, you must admit that you are a sinner. The Bible says, "None is righteous, no, not one. . . . For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:10, 23). It is our sin that separates us from God and from fulfilling our deepest needs and longings. Sin is an offense against God that carries a serious penalty. According to Romans 6:23, "The wages of sin is death [eternal separation from the love and mercy of God]." Abandon Your Efforts. Second, you must abandon any efforts to save yourself. If we could save ourselves, Jesus's death would have been unnecessary! Even "getting religion" cannot get you to heaven. The Bible says it is "not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his mercy" that we are saved (Titus 3:5). Salvation is by God's grace, "not a result of works, so that no one may boast" (Ephesians 2:8-9). Acknowledge Christ's Payment. What you cannot do for yourself, Jesus Christ has done for you! "But God shows his love toward us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8). He died on the cross for you and then rose from the dead to prove that his payment was acceptable to God. But you must acknowledge and believe this fact. "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved" (Acts 16:31). Accept Christ as your Savior. Salvation is God's gift to you. "The free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 6:23). When someone offers you a priceless gift, the wisest thing you can do is accept it! This very moment, you can receive Christ's gift of salvation by sincerely praying this simple prayer from your heart: Dear God, I know that I am a sinner. I know that you love me and want to save me. Jesus, I believe you are the Son of God, who died on the cross to pay for my sins. I believe God raised you from the dead. I now turn from my sin and, by faith, receive you as my personal Lord and Savior. Come into my heart, forgive my sins, and save me, Lord Jesus. In your name I pray. Amen.

Book The Redemption Files

Download or read book The Redemption Files written by Ben Godwin and published by . This book was released on 2019-12-02 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Bible is a book of redemption. It tells how God took a huge negative (the fall of man) and turned it into a powerful positive (the plan of salvation). More than that, the Bible is filled with stories about the redemption of individuals--how God took people's messed up lives and turned them around. Each chapter is another "file" proving this truth. Some of "the redeemed" who will warm your heart are: Job--who found double for all his trouble Mary Magdalene--the prostitute turned preacher Peter--who discovered failure is not final Daniel--the P.O.W. who became president Rahab--the harlot turned heroine of faith Joseph--a slave who saved the world Paul--the murderer who became a minister Redemption is God's specialty and it weaves its way like a scarlet thread through story after story found in His holy book. By the time you fully absorb this concept, you will feel compelled to shout aloud, like Job of old, "I know that my Redeemer lives ...." (Job 19:25)
