Download or read book The Rosette Habit written by Jim Accardi and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2001-12-21 with total page 213 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ryan Meagher is a disbarred, chemically-dependent Cleveland tax attorney who is estranged from his wife and despised by his teenaged son. He lies comatose after suffering a severe head injury in an auto accident. His conscious mind awakens in a strange matrix. He discovers that he has an almost encyclopedic recollection of facts, data, measurements, and other trivia, but no sense of personal identity or memory of his own life. Thereafter, he finds that he is sharing the matrix with a spiritual entity, which–at Meagher’s insistence–arbitrarily assigns itself the identity, “Quisait.” Quisait identifies itself as Meagher’s conscience, moral compass, and life spirit guide–in essence, the complimentary remainder of the lawyer’s spiritual and psychic whole. Meagher’s conscious mind–captive in the matrix–begins an intense “retrogression Therapy,” during which he is compelled to revisit the critical moments of his personal history. Ryan Meagher thus begins a journey into his past and into the future of his loved ones which will change him–and them–forever

Download or read book Flowering Plants Dicotyledons written by Joachim W. Kadereit and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 487 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this volume, 24 flowering plant families comprising a total of 911 genera are treated. They represent the asterid order Lamiales except for Acanthaceae (including Avicenniaceae), which will be included in a later volume. Although most of the constituent families of the order have been recognized as being closely related long ago, the inclusion of the families Byblidaceae, Carlemanniaceae and Plocospermataceae is the result mainly of recent molecular systematic research. Keys for the identification of all genera are provided, and likely phylogenetic relationships are discussed extensively. To facilitate the recognition of relationships, families are cross-referenced where necessary. The wealth of information contained in this volume makes it an indispensable source for anybody in the fields of pure and applied plant sciences.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The effective management of plants is fundamental to all agricultural enterprise, making plant science a key discipline for all growers. This book provides an integrated explanation of all aspects of plant structure and function for students of agriculture, horticulture and applied biology, with the aim of highlighting the practical relevance of plant science to agriculture. Each chapter is self-contained and self-explanatory, with specific chapters covering energy, water, minerals, structure, growth and development from sowing to harvest, environmental effects and controls, breeding, vegetative propagation, field production and yield, and the nutritional content of produce. Taken as a whole, Plants in Agriculture fulfills the need for a single text which promotes a comprehensive understanding of how plants operate in agriculture.

Book excerpt: These volumes are an exhaustive source of information on the control and regulation of flowering. They present data on the factors controlling flower induction and how they may be affected by climate and chemical treatments. For each plant, specific information is provided on all aspects of flower development, including sex expression, requirements for flowering initiation and development, photoperiod, light density, vernalization, and other temperature effects and interactions. Individual species are described from the standpoint of juvenility and maturation, morphology, induction and morphogenesis to anthesis. All information is presented alphabetically for easy reference

Download or read book Photomorphogenesis in Plants and Bacteria written by Eberhard Schäfer and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-01-24 with total page 728 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Plants as sessile organisms have evolved fascinating capacities to adapt to changes in their natural environment. Arguably, light is by far the most important and variable environmental factor. The quality, quantity, direction and duration of light is monitored by a series of photoreceptors covering spectral information from UVB to near infrared. The response of the plants to light is called photomorphogenesis and it is regulated by the concerted action of photoreceptors. The combined techniques of action spectroscopy and biochemistry allowed one of the important photoreceptors – phytochrome – to be identified in the middle of the last century. An enormous number of physiological studies published in the last century describe the properties of phytochrome and its function and also the physiology of blue and UV-B photoreceptors, unidentified at the time. This knowledge was summarized in the advanced textbook “Photomorphogenesis in Plants” (Kendrick and Kronenberg, eds., 1986, 1994). With the advent of molecular biology, genetics and new molecular, cellular techniques, our knowledge in the field of photomorphogenesis has dramatically increased over the last 15 years.
