Book Surface Phenomena in Metallurgical Processes

Download or read book Surface Phenomena in Metallurgical Processes written by A. I. Belyaev and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 235 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Surface phenomena in the field of high-temperature processes are attracting ever increasing attention on the part of scientific workers and engineers. In this field, many questions of applied science cannot properly be solved without taking into account the characteristics caused by surface phenomena at the various interfaces. The importance of surface phenomena in the pyrometallurgy of nonferrous and ferrous metals was convincingly demonstrated at a scientific conference on this problem held in Moscow towards the end of 1961. The English translation of the transactions of this conference, "Surface Phenomena in Metallurgical Processes, .. and its publication in the USA will ena ble American scientists and engineers working in the field of surface phenomena and metallurgy to acquaint themselves with the work of Russian investigators in this inter esting field of physical chemistry and the theory of metallurgical processes. In the Soviet Union, important groups of scientists in Moscow, Leningrad, Kiev, Sverdlovsk. and other cities are engaged in the study of surface phenomena as applied to the different branches of metallurgy. We trust that the publication of the American edition of the book "Surface Phenomena in Metallurgical Processes" will help to strengthen the scientific bonds between Soviet and American scientists.

Book Surface Phenomena in Fusion Welding Processes

Download or read book Surface Phenomena in Fusion Welding Processes written by G.F. Deyev and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2005-12-19 with total page 424 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The manufacturing industry currently employs a wide variety of welding processes. The main technological process applied in the production of weldments is fusion welding. Presenting the latest research on the topic, Surface Phenomena in Fusion Welding Processes is a cutting-edge and comprehensive book that details the various courses of action that occur during welding procedures. It explains established regularities that are useful in the development of processes; details the formation of defects, allowing for an understanding of the role of surface properties and surface phenomena during the formation of defects; and describes welding in space, elucidating the determination role of surface phenomena in that environment. The text also contains 217 figures, 29 tables, and 336 equations to provide the reader with a better understanding of the various processes. In the development of welding technologies, as well as welding consumables, it is essential to know and to take into account both the surface properties of the applied materials and the surface phenomena that affect the boundaries of contacting phases. Surface Phenomena in Fusion Welding Processes presents this knowledge in a thorough and accessible manner, making it the ideal reference for practical and scientific specialists in the fields of welding and metallurgy.

Book Nuclear Science Abstracts

Download or read book Nuclear Science Abstracts written by and published by . This book was released on 1970 with total page 1258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: NSA is a comprehensive collection of international nuclear science and technology literature for the period 1948 through 1976, pre-dating the prestigious INIS database, which began in 1970. NSA existed as a printed product (Volumes 1-33) initially, created by DOE's predecessor, the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission (AEC). NSA includes citations to scientific and technical reports from the AEC, the U.S. Energy Research and Development Administration and its contractors, plus other agencies and international organizations, universities, and industrial and research organizations. References to books, conference proceedings, papers, patents, dissertations, engineering drawings, and journal articles from worldwide sources are also included. Abstracts and full text are provided if available.

Book Coatings of High Temperature Materials

Download or read book Coatings of High Temperature Materials written by H. H. Hausner and published by Springer. This book was released on 2012-12-16 with total page 296 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The properties of materials depend on the characteristics of the bulk and on those of the surf ace. Any change in surface characteristics affects a wide variety of material properties. During the last few years the role of surface phenomena in metallurgy has been the subject of many studies. Surface energy, surface tension, the activity of surfaces, and related problems are under discussion in the western world * as well as in the eastern world. t The relation between volume and surface properties in metals and alloys has been investigated and is still under investigation. Materials are frequently exposed to environments which change their physical and chemical characteristics on account of a reaction going on between the material surface and the environment. The science and technology of surface preparation ro improve material properties have gained importance during the last decade in many parts of the world. Main efforts have been concentrated especially on the coating of material surfaces in connection with the exposure of these materials to space en vironment.
