Book LEADER MEMBER EXCHANGE LMX AND JOB SATISFACTION

Download or read book LEADER MEMBER EXCHANGE LMX AND JOB SATISFACTION written by Amararajan Durarajen and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2010-08 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Leader-member exchange (LMX) theory examines the relationship and role processes between a leader and individual followers. The theory is based on the understanding that leaders establish individual and mutually exchanged relationships with those in a subordination position. A leader typically has one major prevailing style of leadership, but most don t treat all followers the same way (Thomas, 2003). This empirical study was conducted in a multinational semiconductor industry in Bayan Lepas Free Industrial Zone in Penang, Malaysia. The independent variable was LMX with four sub-scales: Affect, loyalty, contribution and professional respect. The dependent variable was job satisfaction with two subscales: Intrinsic and extrinsic. This research uses a multidimensional approach and seeks to identify which of the subscales in LMX have a higher relation with satisfaction of employees in their job.

Book The Role of Perceived Organizational Support and Work Engagement on the Relationship Between Leader member Exchange and Job Satisfaction

Download or read book The Role of Perceived Organizational Support and Work Engagement on the Relationship Between Leader member Exchange and Job Satisfaction written by Murat Taşova and published by . This book was released on 2023 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This research aims to comprehend the the mediating roles of perceived organizational support and work engagement in the effect of leader-member exchange on employees' job satisfaction. Namely, the main purpose is to contribute to this gap in the current knowledge. Structural equation modelling method (SEM) method has been used to analyse multiple variable complex models including direct and indirect relationships. Five-point Likert scale quantitative data was collected. Confirmatory factor analyses have been conducted to verify the convergent validity. Composite reliability has been used to testify reliability and AVE values indicated discriminant validity of the scales. The hypotheses have been tested by means of SEM. Consequently, it has been empirically proven that leader-member exchange has a positive impact on job satisfaction. Furthermore, both perceived organizational support and work engagement play mediating role in the relationship between leader-member exchange and job satisfaction. These findings are in accordance with the extant literature. This study attempts clarify the mechanism behind the relationship between leader-member exchange and job satisfaction by examining the role of perceived organizational support and work engagement concurrently.

Book The Effect of Transformational Leadership and High Quality Leader Member Exchange on the Turnover Intentions of Younger Workers

Download or read book The Effect of Transformational Leadership and High Quality Leader Member Exchange on the Turnover Intentions of Younger Workers written by Kathleen Kleinfeldt (M.) and published by . This book was released on 2012 with total page 368 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This non-experimental quantitative study supported that the greater the employee perception and experience of transformational leadership behaviors, the higher the quality of leader-member exchange and affective commitment. Transformational leadership behaviors and leader-member exchange may predict affective commitment and affective commitment may be a predictor of intention to quit. The introduction of a moderator variable, age of the follower was not significantly related to the relationship between leader-member exchange and affective commitment. Age of the follower did moderate the relationships between idealized influence (attributed) and affective commitment. In post hoc analysis, this study demonstrated differences in commitment type by age category. Analysis of results using age as a moderator demonstrated that for 20 to 24 year olds, the leadership behaviors of IS are perceived differently, which may attenuate affective commitment and strengthen continuous commitment to the organization.

Book The Dispositional Antecedents of Leader member Exchange and Organizational Citizenship Behaviour microform a Process Perspective

Download or read book The Dispositional Antecedents of Leader member Exchange and Organizational Citizenship Behaviour microform a Process Perspective written by Greg Sears and published by Library and Archives Canada = Bibliothèque et Archives Canada. This book was released on 2005 with total page 254 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: While dispositional antecedents to organizational citizenship behaviour (OCB) have been established, scant attention has been given to the interpersonal and attitudinal processes that may mediate the effects of personality on OCB. Similarly, we know little with respect to the influence of supervisor and subordinate personality on leader-member-exchange quality (LMX). In this study, a path analytic model was developed and tested in which the effects of leader and follower personality attributes on LMX quality were hypothesized to be mediated through cognitive (role ambiguity), perceptual (perceived similarity), and affective (subordinate affect toward supervisor) variables. The model also positions LMX as mediating the effects of these cognitive, perceptual, and affective variables on job satisfaction and OCB. Structural Equation Modeling supported the hypothesized model. Results were consistent with both affective and role definition process explanations for LMX development. There was particularly strong support for the role of follower affect in mediating the influence of LMX on OCB. The theoretical and applied significance of these findings are discussed.

Book Leadership and Organizational Structure Affecting Employees Behaviors

Download or read book Leadership and Organizational Structure Affecting Employees Behaviors written by Ampol Chayomchai and published by . This book was released on 2020 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purposes of this research were investigated the important factors of leadership and organizational structure affecting job satisfaction, and examine the effect of job satisfaction on work engagement and organizational citizenship behavior in Thailand operations focusing on Y-generation Thais. The researched population and sample were represented by Y-generation Thais in Bangkok and the metropolitan area. The purposive and convenience sampling method was performed. A total of 400 usable questionnaires were analyzed in this research. Descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis have been employed. The results found that (1) two key factors including leader support and job security had a positive and significant effect on job satisfaction, (2) employees' job satisfaction had a positive and significant influence on work engagement, and (3) job satisfaction significantly affected organizational citizenship behavior. The research suggests that Thailand management level should focus on two crucial factors including leader support and job security for maximizing the employees' job satisfaction. This focus can improve their employees' motivation and productivity. Also, they should focus on the job satisfaction of their employees. It will lead to better work engagement and organizational citizenship behavior in the workplace for increasing the opportunity to have better job performance and corporate achievement.

Book The Impact of Servant Leadership Behaviors on Trust and Organizational Citizenship Behavior

Download or read book The Impact of Servant Leadership Behaviors on Trust and Organizational Citizenship Behavior written by Ali Chraim and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 65 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The premise of this study is that the behavior of the organizational leader affects employee outcomes. More specifically, I seek to examine the relationship between Servant Leadership behaviors and employee organizational citizenship behaviors – both OCB-I (behaviors targeted towards an individual, such as altruism) and OCB-O (behaviors that directly affect the organization as a whole, such as civic virtue). I propose that this relationship is mediated by employees’ trust in their leader. This study adopts McAllister’s (1995) theoretical construct of trust, which distinguishes between the two dimensions of affect-based trust (rooted in emotion) and cognition-based trust (rooted in reason). Moreover, I propose that the link between trust in the leader and employee organizational citizenship behavior is moderated by the well-being of the employees. In the present research, the well-being of the employees will be assessed on three dimensions: emotional exhaustion (also referred to as burnout), life satisfaction as well as job satisfaction. The results revealed that Servant Leadership is positively and significantly correlated with employee organizational citizenship behavior. Additionally, only cognitive-based trust partially mediated that relationship. Contrary to expectations, employee well-being was not found to significantly moderate the relationship between trust in the leader and organizational citizenship behavior. Overall, the present study contributes to the leadership literature by establishing a link between servant leadership and employee OCB through the medium of trust. From a practical standpoint, the results of this study would benefit companies as a whole by raising the awareness the managers regarding the employee outcomes that their behaviors may cause, as trust and OCB are related to many positive employee outcomes (such as lower transaction cost, decreased turnover, increased motivation and commitment etc…) that can grant companies a competitive advantage.

Book Direct and Indirect Relationships of Leader member Exchange and Informal Learning with In role Performance Extra role Performance and Innovative Work Behavior in Large Korean Organizations

Download or read book Direct and Indirect Relationships of Leader member Exchange and Informal Learning with In role Performance Extra role Performance and Innovative Work Behavior in Large Korean Organizations written by Ji Park and published by . This book was released on 2018 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The main purpose of this study was to examine structural relationships among leader-member exchange (LMX), informal learning, in-role performance, extra-role performance, and innovative work behavior in selected major South Korean organizations. Specifically, a direct relationship between LMX and outcome variables used in this study (informal learning, in-role performance, extra-role performance, and innovative work behavior) was examined, and an indirect effecta mediating role of informal learning on these relationshipswas also investigated. A total of 382 complete responses (i.e., 191 supervisor-subordinate dyadic responses) from major organizations in South Korea were used for structural equation modeling (SEM) analysis. The results showed LMX is positively related to employees informal learning, in-role performance, extra-role performance, and innovative work behavior. Moreover, LMX is indirectly positively related to employees in-role performance and innovative work behavior via informal learning. The findings of this study contribute to expanding the literature on leadership and workplace learning by empirically revealing the positive linkages among LMX, informal learning, in-role and extra role performance, and innovative behavior in a Korean context. Moreover, these findings point to the importance of developing reciprocal relationships between a leader and subordinate that are based upon mutual trust and respect and creating favorable work environments that promote employees to engage in various informal learning activities for higher performance and innovation. More detailed explanations of contribution to theory and practice are discussed in the text based on findings of this study.
