Download or read book Anaphylaxis written by Johannes Ring and published by Karger Medical and Scientific Publishers. This book was released on 2010-01-01 with total page 255 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Anaphylaxis is an immediate-type allergic reaction involving the whole organism. It is the most life-threatening allergic condition. Although there are few exact epidemiological data regarding prevalence, estimates regarding insect sting anaphylaxis range from 1-3% in the general population, but much higher values have been reported by some authors for food and drug-induced anaphylaxis. Anaphylaxis is the main acute killer of allergic individuals.Although anaphylaxis was discovered at the beginning of the 20th century, there are still many unresolved issues. These include non-IgE-mediated anap.
Download or read book Climate Change written by André Berger and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-04-25 with total page 244 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Experts in climate and water sciences from Canada, the United States, Brazil, Denmark, Germany, Belgium, France, Serbia, and other European countries and the UNESCO gathered at the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts on the occasion of the 130th birthday anniversary of the geophysicist Milutin Milankovitch. The collection of their presentations is opened by an update on the climate situation after the Fourth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. Further topics include various issues of paleoclimatology, in particular as it helps reduce uncertainties from which prospects for climate change suffer; ecohydrology and climate change at the watershed scale; and regional climate models, which are discussed in terms of both their improved modeling and their use in studies of a polynya in the Antarctica and expected changes in the Mediterranean region.
Download or read book Run time Reconfigurable Constant Multiplication on Field Programmable Gate Arrays written by Möller, Konrad and published by kassel university press GmbH. This book was released on 2017 with total page 138 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book addresses the question how run-time reconfigurable constant multipliers (RCMs) can be efficiently implemented on field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs). RCMs calculate the multiplication of an input number by one out of several constants which can be selected during run-time. This is important as constant multiplication is an essential operation in digital signalprocessing (DSP) applications. The evaluation of RCMs is done by considering reconfiguration using reconfigurable look-up tables (LUTs),reconfiguration using multiplexers (MUXs) and Partial Reconfiguration (PR). This book contributes two new methods to generate RCMs using the first two reconfiguration principles. First, a LUT-based constant multiplier is extended to be reconfigurable. Second, optimized constant multipliers without reconfiguration are fused using MUXs. Moreover, a general post-optimization for MUX-based RCMs is proposed. Finally, the design space produced in this way is analyzed using synthesis experiments. The contributed methods provide important trade-off points in the design space of RCMs on FPGAs.

This book was released on 2019-09-06 with total page 435 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An introduction to geomagnetic storms and the hazards they pose at the Earth’s surface Geomagnetic storms are a type of space weather event that can create Geomagnetically Induced Currents (GICs) which, once they reach Earth’s surface, can interfere with power grids and transport infrastructure. Understanding the characteristics and impacts of GICs requires scientific insights from solar physics, magnetospheric physics, aeronomy, and ionospheric physics, as well as geophysics and power engineering. Geomagnetically Induced Currents from the Sun to the Power Grid is a practical introduction for researchers and practitioners that provides tools and techniques from across these disciplines. Volume highlights include: Analysis of causes of geomagnetic storms that create GICs Data and methods used to analyze and forecast GIC hazard GIC impacts on the infrastructure of the bulk power system Analysis techniques used in different areas of GIC research New methods to validate and predict GICs in transmission systems
