Book Commercial Project Management

Download or read book Commercial Project Management written by Robin Hornby and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2017-05-12 with total page 268 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Commercial Project Management fills a void in the project management landscape. Project manager and author Robin Hornby considers commercial project management to be a neglected and poorly understood discipline, a situation he aims to rectify. His new book, with a wealth of ‘how to do it’ advice, explanatory illustrations, practical techniques, and proven checklists, will give contracted project managers a confidence boost and a head start in their demanding role. The book explains how standard projet management practices can be evolved to address the commercial setting and adopted by the professional services firm as a key part of its business operations. At the same time, their project managers must assume a new accountability to the firm’s business manager for revenue, must manage the space between sales and the client, and deal with other business matters defined by contract. This transforms many of the routine tasks and behaviors of the project manager, creates several new ones, and requires new skills. This is a how-to book for project and business managers working in a commercial environment looking for practical guidance on conducting their projects and organizing their firm.

Book Strangers to Neighbours

Download or read book Strangers to Neighbours written by Shauna Labman and published by McGill-Queen's Press - MQUP. This book was released on 2020-09-23 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As a leading country in global refugee resettlement, Canada operates a unique program that allows private groups and individuals to sponsor refugees. This innovative approach has received growing international attention, but there remains a need for a more expansive understanding of the sponsorship framework and its potential implications within Canada and across the world. Strangers to Neighbours explains the origins and development of refugee sponsorship, paying particular attention to the unintended consequences and ethical dilemmas it produces for refugee policy. The contributors to this collection draw upon law, social science, and philosophy to bring a more robust and objective perspective on Canada's historical experience with sponsorship into wider conversations about the refugee crisis and resettlement. Together, they present recent cases that exemplify how the model has been applied and how it functions, while also analyzing the challenges that emerge in host-sponsor relations. This volume further examines how sponsorship has been implemented differently in countries such as the United States and Australia. The first dedicated study of refugee sponsorship policy, Strangers to Neighbours assembles leading scholars from a range of disciplines to consider whether Canada's system is indeed a sustainable model for the world.

It is also used to determine reasonable and practicable modifications to maintain a high level of safety during continued operation, and to justify operation of a nuclear power plant beyond the original time frame. The review considers life limiting processes and features of structures, systems and components important to safety, and whether there are any foreseeable circumstances that could endanger the safe operation of the nuclear power plant. This publication addresses the scope of assessment, methods and applicable criteria within the periodic safety review and long term operation programmes framework, to support decision making for long term operation of nuclear power plants.

These data-collection processes must be performed under controlled conditions to be legally defensible. An effective quality assurance (QA) plan is needed to meet these requirements. in response to the need for a guidance document to assist Corps personnel with the preparation of QA project plans, a task group met and recommended the preparation of a single standardized approach that would be applicable to all civil works data-collection programs. Book Design Reviews and their Impacts on the Enterprise Life Cycle

Download or read book Design Reviews and their Impacts on the Enterprise Life Cycle written by Marc Noyen and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2006-02-03 with total page 94 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Master's Thesis from the year 2004 in the subject Engineering - Mechanical Engineering, grade: sehr gut, Stellenbosch Universitiy (Department of Industrial Engineering), language: English, abstract: The design and development of general Product Life Cycles (PLC) and Enterprise Life Cycles (ELC) has received significant attention over the past years. The EDENTM Software Environment developed from Indutech (Pty) Ltd provides roadmaps for both life cycles. These roadmaps allow the involved development team to follow a predefined step-by-step structure for their respective project. As a PLC always belongs to a superior ELC, both life cycles cannot be considered independently. Changes and decisions of one of the life cycles usually have an impact on the other. And although the PLC and ELC are well explored, there does not exist a model which reveals those important interfaces between both life cycles. This thesis aims on the detection of impacts of the PLC on the ELC. As the Design Review (DR) is a crucial key control element in the development process, the detection of the links is done by means of such DR. After giving general information about DR and providing definitions and descriptions of DR in the PLC and ELC, an impact-matrix is developed which shows the detected interference of the ELC by decisions of DR conducted in the PLC.

Book Project Management

Download or read book Project Management written by Adedeji B. Badiru and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2011-12-12 with total page 585 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As organizations realize the benefits of PM, the need to develop effective management tools rises with the increasing complexity of new technologies and processes. Taking a systems approach to accomplishing goals and objectives, Project Management: Systems, Principles, and Applications covers contemporary tools and techniques of PM from an established pedagogical perspective. A project can be simple or complex. In each case, proven PM processes must be followed with a world systems view of the project environment. While on-the-job training is possible for many of the PM requirements, rigorous and formal training must be used. Consequently, PM resources are of high utility. This text fills the void that exists in the availability of PM resources. Although individual books dealing with management principles, optimization models, and computer tools are available, there are few guidelines for the integration of these three areas for PM purposes. This book integrates these areas into a comprehensive guide to PM. It introduces the triad approach to improve the effectiveness of PM with respect to schedule, cost, and performance constraints within the context of systems modeling. It provides details on an integrated systems PM approach that can help diminish the adverse impacts of these issues through good project planning, organizing, scheduling, and control.
