The Lord Is My Shepherd Cindy’s church is getting ready to celebrate Easter, and Jeremiah’s Temple is preparing for Passover when Cindy literally stumbles over the body of an unknown man lying dead in the sanctuary. The church was locked, and a bloody cross necklace on the floor seems to be the only clue. The killer is likely a member of the congregation, but there are hints that similar deaths have happened in the past. Are Cindy and Jeremiah dealing with a serial killer? They have to unravel the clues before Easter Sunday arrives and more people die. I Shall Not Want Charity work can be murder! It’s Thanksgiving and Joseph Tyler, one of the members of Cindy’s church, has organized a new charity that provides homeless people with rescue dogs to love and care for. But one by one, the homeless recipients are being murdered and their dogs stolen. Could an overly competitive millionaire with his prize-winning pooches and a grudge be behind the crimes? Or could it be someone much closer to Joseph who has something sinister to hide? Cindy and Jeremiah must rush to find a killer before he strikes again.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rob Morgan, bestselling author of Then My Soul Sings, explores the rich meaning behind the world’s best-known and most-loved poem—Psalm 23. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters… These are the opening lines to one of the most memorized, inspirational, and comforting passages in the Bible—and one of the greatest poems of all time. In six verses, it provides a microcosm of God’s grace. When anxiety robs us of sleep, our most powerful “tranquilizer” is Psalm 23. It’s a soul-soother. It appears in the middle of a trilogy of psalms dealing with our past, our present, and our future needs. In The Lord is My Shepherd, Morgan teaches Psalm 23 verse-by-verse, explaining its extraordinary power to change lives and ease our troubles. He shares its fascinating context and colorful background, as well as his own charming, real-life stories of herding sheep. You’ll find encouragement to enjoy the “green pastures” of life while becoming strengthened by the “dark valleys.” Furthermore, Morgan maintains that some of the Bible’s richest truths are summarized in these six simple verses of Psalm 23. In knowing the Good Shepherd, we have total resources for all our internal, external, and eternal needs. Through this clear explanation of the biblical text and great stories that illustrate the love and care of the shepherd, The Lord is My Shepherd will help you rediscover the joy, inspiration, and peace in the green pastures of this beloved psalm.

Excerpt from book: NO WANT. Verse 1.?I shall not want. Having declared the joyful truth that the Lord was his Shepherd, the Psalmist proceeds to describe his own felicity as a member of the flock. So full is his sense of security and blessedness, that he stays not to specify any one particular form of his innumerable mercies, but at once, by a single and sententious negative, banishes every idea that any real evil can befall him, and appropriates to himself all needful good. I shall not want. What an amazing declaration ! Does he deny that life is a chequered scene? Does he not know that riches take unto themselves wings and flee away ? Has he forgotten that even conquerors have fallen, and that the mightiest of mo- narchs have begged their bread ? By no means. The Psalmist is neither ignorant nor forgetful of these facts; but his confidence in God as his heavenly Shepherd, has raised him superior to all fear of privation. The changes and chances of this uncertain world he can calmly contemplate, and yet exclaim, I shall not want. But on what ground, it may be demanded, does he base this assertion ? We can without hesitation reply ? On the surest of all grounds. Did he not immediately before declare, The Lord is my Shepherd? And is it not both natural and appropriate to add, I shall not want ? Imagine the opposite conclusion. How absurd, how contradictory, is it to say, The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall be left to want Surely the most despondent of men would recoil from such a proposition. The statements it contains arc destructive of each other. Since, then, the Psalmist could affirm with truth, The Lord is my Shepherd, we must conclude that he was fully warranted to add, I shall not want. Nay, we may take still higher ground, and assert that he was bound to say so...

Book excerpt: The author wrote this book with the feeling that many people he pastored could quote the words "The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want," when in reality their lives were "wildernesses of want." In this day of turmoil, confusion, and urgency, the Christian needs to know the Lord as his Shepherd. Centering on the imagery of the shepherd's care for his sheep, Ketcham draws the themes of rest, refreshment, guidance, courage, restoration, comfort, supply, protection, mercy, and power into practical focus. Courage: "The sheep needs courage, not to fight the lion, but to trust the shepherd." Supply: "It is not so much a lot of 'things' which the dear Saviour provides for us, as it is Himself."
