Book The Complete Works of C H Spurgeon Volume 15

Download or read book The Complete Works of C H Spurgeon Volume 15 written by Spurgeon, Charles H. and published by Delmarva Publications, Inc.. This book was released on 2015-02-25 with total page 1046 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Volume 15 Sermons 848-907 Charles Spurgeon (19 June 1834 – 31 January 1892) is one of the church’s most famous preachers and Christianity’s foremost prolific writers. Called the “Prince of Preachers,” he was one of England's most notable ministers for most of the second half of the nineteenth century, and he still remains highly influential among Christians of different denominations today. His sermons have spread all over the world, and his many printed works have been cherished classics for decades. In his lifetime, Spurgeon preached to more than 10 million people, often up to ten times each week. He was the pastor of the congregation of the New Park Street Chapel (later the Metropolitan Tabernacle) in London for 38 years. He was an inexhaustible author of various kinds of works including sermons, commentaries, an autobiography, as well as books on prayer, devotionals, magazines, poetry, hymns and more. Spurgeon was known to produce powerful sermons of penetrating thought and divine inspiration, and his oratory and writing skills held his audiences spellbound. Many Christians have discovered Spurgeon's messages to be among the best in Christian literature. Edward Walford wrote in Old and New London: Volume 6 (1878) quoting an article from the Times regarding one of Spurgeon’s meetings at Surrey: “Fancy a congregation consisting of 10,000 souls, streaming into the hall, mounting the galleries, humming, buzzing, and swarming—a mighty hive of bees—eager to secure at first the best places, and, at last, any place at all. After waiting more than half an hour—for if you wish to have a seat you must be there at least that space of time in advance—Mr. Spurgeon ascended his tribune. To the hum, and rush, and trampling of men, succeeded a low, concentrated thrill and murmur of devotion, which seemed to run at once, like an electric current, through the breast of every one present, and by this magnetic chain the preacher held us fast bound for about two hours. It is not my purpose to give a summary of his discourse. It is enough to say of his voice, that its power and volume are sufficient to reach every one in that vast assembly; of his language, that it is neither high-flown nor homely; of his style, that it is at times familiar, at times declamatory, but always happy, and often eloquent; of his doctrine, that neither the 'Calvinist' nor the 'Baptist' appears in the forefront of the battle which is waged by Mr. Spurgeon with relentless animosity, and with Gospel weapons, against irreligion, cant, hypocrisy, pride, and those secret bosom-sins which so easily beset a man in daily life; and to sum up all in a word, it is enough to say of the man himself, that he impresses you with a perfect conviction of his sincerity.” More than a hundred years after his death, Charles Spurgeon’s legacy continues to effectively inspire the church around the world. For this reason, Delmarva Publications has chosen to republish the complete works of Charles Spurgeon.

Book The Gospel and the Land of Promise

Download or read book The Gospel and the Land of Promise written by Tim Bulkeley and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2011-05-13 with total page 215 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Today the "land of promise" is a spark in the tinder dry atmosphere of Middle Eastern affairs. Events there continue to wield influence among peoples and in places well beyond the region itself. This raises for Christians the acute theological problem of how to relate to the "land of promise" today and in light of the land of the Bible. Our hope is that this volume of essays will contribute to a more informed and theologically coherent response to the "Land of Promise." It is offered here in the name of peace for all peoples in that place and among those who continue to look to her as a place of promise.

Book Trusting God s Timing

    Book Details:
  • Author : Steven Stoffelsen
  • Publisher : Word Alive Press
  • Release : 2017-01-17
  • ISBN : 1486614019
  • Pages : 171 pages

Download or read book Trusting God s Timing written by Steven Stoffelsen and published by Word Alive Press. This book was released on 2017-01-17 with total page 171 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many times Christians excitedly receive a promise or vision from God. From that moment forward, they want to tell the whole world what God is going to do in and through them. It’s so exciting to have a promise from God. The Bible says, “Where there is no vision, the people perish” (Proverbs 29:18). But when God gives us a promise or vision, it takes time to see it fulfilled. Rarely is the vision for tomorrow or even the next year. It’s for a certain time set by God. He shows it to you early, but He still wants to prepare you for the journey ahead. Many Christians get discouraged during this process and walk away from God. But so many people in the Bible—like Abraham, Joseph, and David—had to go through years of preparation before they saw their visions fulfilled. They waited a long time, probably longer than most of us. Be encouraged and don’t let a thing called time destroy you before you even start. God is for you, and what He’s promised He will bring to pass.

Book Word of Faith Preachers

  • Author : Joseph T. . Bachota Jr
  • Publisher : iUniverse
  • Release : 2010-06-16
  • ISBN : 1450231462
  • Pages : 260 pages

Download or read book Word of Faith Preachers written by Joseph T. . Bachota Jr and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2010-06-16 with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Have you ever wondered about the correctness of the messages and teachings of preachers behind the pulpits and on TV today? Who holds them accountable for explanations and outlines of the truth? Who questions them or anything they say? With sound biblical exegesis, this book challenges you to keep an open mind and determine for yourself what is true or false. As an ordained Word of Faith preacher, Joe Bachota has firsthand knowledge of the doctrines being preached. Word of Faith Preachers isnt meant to be an exhaustive discussion of every doctrinal position taken by the movement. Instead, it explores a few of the major heresies the Word of Faith churches are teaching, with the goal of preventing you from being led astray if you are exposed to them. Even though Bachota once believed, preached, and taught most of these doctrines, the Lord has led him in another direction, opening his eyes to the heresies contained in some of the Word of Faith doctrine. Hopefully, this book will lead you in the same way and enable you to come to the same conclusion he did: the teachings of many churches today, particularly Word of Faith churches, are completely out of touch with sound biblical doctrine.

Book Through the Fire

    Book Details:
  • Author : Tasse Swanson
  • Publisher : Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.
  • Release : 2023-01-25
  • ISBN : 1098075374
  • Pages : 406 pages

Download or read book Through the Fire written by Tasse Swanson and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2023-01-25 with total page 406 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The title of this book has been hard-won. Having gone through the deaths of two husbands within the span of eight years, all before the age of forty-six, created the need to either heavily lean into God or choose to walk away in unbelief. Choosing to lean into God created many questions and did not allow denial or avoidance to rule the days. This book became a reality as I walked through the valley of the shadow of death and came out with a deeper understanding of God’s goodness in the valleys. It is my prayer that when you, as the reader, wrestle with questions of pain and loss in this life, you will be able to answer yes to the question asked in Luke 18:8, “When the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?” May your faith also rise from the ashes, through the love of God, the help of others, and your faithful pressing into God’s goodness.

Download or read book Exodus ESV Edition written by Philip Graham Ryken and published by Crossway. This book was released on 2016-02-26 with total page 1042 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this expository commentary on the book of Exodus, Philip Graham Ryken mines the story of Israel’s escape from Egypt for knowledge of God’s character and instruction for his followers. Theologically instructive and decidedly pastoral, this commentary leads readers to rejoice at God’s work in the life of every person who follows him on the path to spiritual freedom. Ryken skillfully relates how the Israelites’ deliverance from slavery anticipated the salvation accomplished in Jesus Christ, proving that God remembers his covenant and always delivers on his promises. For those who preach, teach, and study God’s Word, this book is more than just a commentary; it is a celebration of God’s faithfulness. The book of Daniel abounds with powerful imagery showcasing God’s unmatched glory and wise plan for the future. In this accessible commentary, pastor Rodney Stortz highlights the coming triumph of God's kingdom, offering pastors and Bible teachers a resource to help them explain and apply Daniel’s message to Christians today. Stortz’s careful exegesis and perceptive applications focus on personal holiness, the wisdom and power of God, and the importance of Daniel’s prophecies concerning the Messiah and the Antichrist. In addition, this commentary looks to the New Testament to shed light on Daniel’s prophecies about the future. Part of the Preaching the Word series.
