  • Author : Jeff Levin
  • Publisher : Templeton Foundation Press
  • Release : 2010-04-01

  • Pages : 289 pages

Download or read book Divine Love written by Jeff Levin and published by Templeton Foundation Press. This book was released on 2010-04-01 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The contributors to Divine Love cover a broad spectrum of world religions, comparing and contrasting approaches among Christians of several denominations, Jews, Buddhists, Muslims, Hindus, and adherents of traditional African religions. Each chapter focuses on the definition and conceptual boundaries of divine love; its expression and experience; its instrumentality and salience; how it can become distorted, and how it has been made manifest or restored by great historic exemplars of altruism, compassion, and unlimited love. The ultimate aim for many of the world’s major faith traditions is to love and be loved by God—to live in connection with the Divine, in union with the Beloved, in reconciliation with the Ultimate. Religious scholars Jeff Levin and Stephen G. Post have termed this connection “divine love.” In their new collection of the same name, they have invited eight of the world’s preeminent religious scholars to share their perspectives on the what, how, and why of divine love. From this diverse gathering of perspectives emerges evidence that to love and to be loved by God, to enter into a mutual and covenantal relationship with the Divine, may well offer solutions to many of the current crises around the world. Only a loving relationship with the Source of being within the context of the great faith and wisdom traditions of the world can fully inform and motivate the acts of love, unity, justice, compassion, kindness, and mercy for all beings that are so desperately required to counter the toxic influences in the world. Contributors: William C. Chittick, Vigen Guroian, Ruben L. F. Habito, William K. Mahony, John S. Mbiti, Jacob Neusner, Clark H. Pinnock, and David Tracy.

Book The Religion of God Divine Love

Download or read book The Religion of God Divine Love written by His Divine Eminence Ra Gohar Shahi and published by BalboaPress. This book was released on 2012-05-17 with total page 168 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The excerpts from the book for quick awareness: 1. Those who love God but do not practise a religion are better than you if you follow a religion and yet are deprived of Gods love. 2. Love relates to the heart. The word, Allah, when synchronised within heartbeats, reaches all veins and arteries through the blood and revives the souls. Then the souls, engulfed by Gods name, Allah, enter Gods love. 3. All names given to God in all languages are worthy of respect. However, Gods original name is Allah, which is a word from the Suryani language. The creatures of empyrean speak this language. The angels call upon God with the name of Allah. Allah is attached with the faith declaration motto of every prophet. 4. Any person who, with all the sincerity of heart, is in search for God, on land or in the sea, is worthy of respect. 5. Many Adams were sent in different regions of the world simultaneously. All Adams were moulded from the clay in this world, for except the last Adam who was moulded from the clay in paradise, and is buried in the Arab region. The angels did not prostrate to any other Adam for except Adam Safi Allah. And Iblis (the Devil) developed enmity for the progeny of Adam Safi Allah only. 6. There are seven different sub-spirits in the human skeleton, and each relates to a different realm, a different paradise, and different functions in the human body. If these sub-spirits are empowered with Gods light (Noor), they may appear in human form in many places simultaneously. They may reach the esoteric gatherings of the saints and the prophets, speak with God, and even see God in person also. 7. There are two different types of religions for all humans: the religion for the body, which expires when the body does, and the religion for the soul, which existed even in the primordial timethat is Gods love. And only this religion elevates humans. 8. Ishq (Rapturous Love) of Allah is above all other religions, and seeing Allah is above all forms of worship. 9. Information on how human beings, animals, plants, and stones were brought into existence, and why something is prohibited or permissible. 10. Who pre-existed the Amr Kun (the command Be) of the souls and the angels? Which dog will enter the paradise in form of Qatmir? The souls of which individuals had already affirmed the declaration of faith in the primordial time? The secret of which man is not mentioned in this book?

Download or read book Love Divine written by Jordan Wessling and published by Oxford University Press, USA. This book was released on 2020-06 with total page 282 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Love Divine provides a systematic account of the deep and rich love that God has for humans. While the associated theological territory is vast, the objective is to contend for a unified paradigm regarding fundamental issues pertaining to the God of love who deigns to share His life of love with any human willing to receive it. Realizing this objective includes clarifying and defending specific conclusions concerning how the doctrine of divine love should be approached, what God's love is, what role love plays in motivating God's creation and subsequent governance of humans, how God's love of humans factors into His emotional life, which humans it is that God loves in a saving manner, what the punitive wrath of God is and how it relates to God's love for humans, and how it might be possible for God to share the intra-trinitarian life of love with human beings. As the book unfolds, the chapters interlock and build upon one another in the effort to trace nodal issues related to God's love as it begins in Him and then spills out in the creation, redemption, and glorification of humanity--a kind of exitus-reditus structure that is driven by the unyielding love of God.
