Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It's the reason why spending time on Facebook makes us feel sad and lonely. Why expensive name-brand medicines provide better pain relief than the generic stuff, even if they share the same ingredients. And why a hospital room with a good view speeds up recovery from surgery. The truth is, the way we think about ourselves and the world around us dramatically impacts our happiness, health, how fast or slow we age, and even how long we live. In fact, people with a positive mindset about aging live on average 7.5 years longer than those without. That might sound alarming to those of us who struggle to see the bright side, but the good news is we can make surprisingly simple changes or small shifts to how we think, feel, and act that will really pay off. In The Positive Shift: Mastering Mindset to Improve Happiness, Health, and Longevity, Dr. Catherine Sanderson breaks down the science of thought and shows how our mindset—or thought pattern—exerts a substantial influence on our psychological and physical health. Most important, this book demonstrates how, no matter what our natural tendency, with practice we can make minor tweaks in our mindset that will improve the quality—and longevity—of our life. Combining cutting-edge research from the fields of psychology, neuroscience, and medicine, as well as vivid real-world examples of the power of mindset, The Positive Shift gives readers practical and easy strategies for changing maladaptive thought patterns and behaviors so they can live longer, happier lives. These behaviors include: • Appreciating nature, with actions as simple as eating lunch outside • Giving to others, like volunteering • Spending money on experiences, not possessions Living your best life is truly mind over matter. Believe in yourself and rethink your way to a happier reality.

Book Eliminate Negative Thinking

Download or read book Eliminate Negative Thinking written by Derick Howell and published by Inner Growth Media. This book was released on 2020-06-06 with total page 120 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If You Want To Break Free From Negative Thought Patterns, Stop Worrying And Learn To Think Positive, Here's The Right Book For You! Do you find it hard to fall asleep because your brain won't stop worrying? Do you feel stuck in an endless loop of uncontrollable negative thoughts? Do you struggle with problem-solving because you can't stop overthinking? You're not alone. Around 18% of the population suffer from anxiety, and up to 73% of adults admit that they overthink. In fact, our brains are wired to look out for potential dangers. We remember negative events more vividly than positive ones. We instinctively look for negative things and imagine worst-case scenarios. This instinct is helpful when you're lost in a jungle full of hungry predators. But in our safe and comfortable lives, our negativity bias can get out of control. When you don't have to worry about being eaten by a tiger, your brain might start worrying about your future grandkids' careers or that awkward conversation that happened five years ago. If you don't make a conscious effort to manage your negative thoughts, you'll get lost in an endless loop of negativity - or, even worse, a downward spiral. When your mind is engrossed in negative thoughts, it becomes blind to amazing opportunities that life throws at you. It becomes blind to possible ways of solving the very problem you're worrying about. It becomes blind to the simple joys of life and ends up depressed. But what if you could eliminate negative thinking? What if you could stop thinking about problems and start solving them? What if you could love and appreciate yourself instead of beating yourself up? Derick Howell, an anxiety coach with decades of experience, is here to help you. His insightful book will help you banish negativity from your life and learn to love yourself. Here's a sneak peek of what you'll find in this book: The mistakes you're probably making when dealing with negative thoughts 13 simple ways to clear your mind and relax when you're getting anxious The easiest therapist-approved way to change your thought patterns A step-by-step guide to building positive thinking habits The surprising reason why thinking about problems won't help you solve them Mind hacks that will help you overcome worry and stop negative thinking A complete guide to cultivating self-love and breaking the spell of negativity If you've ever tried to overcome negativity, you know that just telling yourself to "think positive" won't cut it. This book offers a comprehensive toolkit of actionable strategies and techniques that will help you eliminate the deep-seated causes of your anxiety, manage your day-to-day worries, stop overthinking in its tracks, and finally love yourself the way you deserve to be loved. Book The Simple Shift

Download or read book The Simple Shift written by Chris Helder and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2020-03-24 with total page 120 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Reframe challenges as opportunities, not obstacles There is a mountain of hype around positive thinking. But have you noticed that positive thinking doesn’t, well, work? That’s because positivity is just an emotion, and at the end of the day it doesn’t change the reality of the situations we face. The Simple Shift turns positive thinking on its head and transforms it into something practical – a way of adopting beliefs that can change the way you see reality and make major obstacles into easily resolvable issues. This book helps you develop the self-awareness to know when and how your thoughts are holding you back. Instead of just trying to ignore negative thoughts or pretend that problems don’t exist, why not actually change them, using useful thinking? Control your perception and start to turn your life around with The Simple Shift. • Overcome life’s obstacles by transforming the way you perceive problems • Discover why what’s “true” doesn’t matter as much as what’s “useful” • Triumph when times are tough by adopting a simple shift in thinking • Uncover the valuable lessons you've already learned by overcoming past challenges This book provides a clear and practical path for retraining your brain to see opportunities rather than obstacles. It’s not about putting on rose-coloured glasses and pretending that problems don’t exist. Rather, you can choose to train your mindset towards what is useful, guiding you to better outcomes in life, love and work.

  • Pages : 50 pages

Download or read book Positive Thinking written by Theo Gold and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2015-11-26 with total page 50 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book, "Positive Thinking: Change your Attitude, Change Your Life" will do just what the title says, it will change your life. This is not your run of the mill power of positive thinking book. It not only tells you about the power of positive thinking and how to utilize this to change your life, but it also explains HOW this works, how your mind works and why negative thinking can and will bring about negative consequences. The author draws upon real life circumstances and analogies to bring the information contained within this book to life, explaining in detail not only how or thinking can keep us from succeeding, but tells us why it works the way it works and how we can combat it to help us succeed in meeting our goals and being the person we were truly meant to be. He does this in a no-nonsense straight forward manner, encouraging us to be the best we can be by silencing those thoughts that tend to put us in this negative cycle. In this book you will learn about: How your mind works to realize your commands How to train your mind to think in positive patterns How to focus on the present and realize the only time is now How to quiet the inner voice of negativity How to overcome those outer voices of negativity How to get past your past How to focus on the present in order to meet your future goals and a whole host of other information to help us understand ourselves, our minds and our potential for being the best we can possibly be. I have personally read many self-help books that promise to bring the power of positive thinking to reality but have often ended up disappointed and disillusioned with the feeling that there was something I was missing, or maybe it was all just some sort of joke or hoax. This book actually helped me to realize what it was I was missing, where many of those books left me still spiraling out of control, trying to use "positive affirmations" but still failing, this book explained in detail the steps I need to take and helped me to really understand how positive thinking works. One chapter, titled "The Power of Negative Thinking" really brought it all into focus and showed me why, previously I was unable to use positive thinking as I was already bogged down with so many negative thoughts. This book also helps you in becoming aware of your "self" to recognize how you might react to situations, then recognize the "voice" that guides you in your reaction and finally using positive affirmations to release the negative. By the time you are finished reading this book you will find yourself much more informed and equipped to do battle with negativity then you ever realized was possible. The reading is easy and informative with man illustrations and examples so that you can get a great grasp of the subject matter, regardless of your level of comprehension. I read this book to my 9 year old, just to see if he would "get it" and he actually understood the concepts just as well as I did once I finished reading it to him and immediately started putting the concepts into practice. This is the best self-help, positive thinking book I have ever read, which is why I took the time to write this description, as a reader who has been looking for something like this for a long time. I think you will agree that this book will definitely change your attitude and change your mind and will set you on a road to success through Positive Thinking. Give it a read, and let me know what you think in the comments below. I just want to say, if this doesn't help you to see the potential within your own mind, nothing will. Good reading!"
