In settling the text I have been careful to eschew conjecture, and to adhere closely to the quartos. This has been very necessary in the case of the Revenger's Tragedy, (the only one of these works which has been edited before,) as the editors have often rashly and unnecessarily tampered with the text, even where it was quite intelligible and definite.
