Book The Physics Of Consciousness

Download or read book The Physics Of Consciousness written by Evan Harris Walker and published by Basic Books. This book was released on 2000-02-03 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For decades, neuroscientists, psychologists, and an army of brain researchers have been struggling, in vain, to explain the phenomenon of consciousness. Now there is a clear trail to the answer, and it leads through the dense jungle of quantum physics, Zen, and subjective experience, and arrives at an unexpected destination. In this tour-de-force of scientific investigation, Evan Harris Walker, a pioneer in the science of consciousness, describes the outcome of his fifty-year search for the true nature of reality. Drawing on a deep knowledge of quantum physics and Zen philosophy, Walker shows how the operation of bizarre yet actual properties of elementary particles support a new and exciting theory of reality, based on the principles of quantum physics; a theory that answers questions such as “What is the nature of consciousness, of will?” “What is the source of material reality?” and “What is God?”Clearly written in non-technical, lyrical prose, The Physics of Consciousness is more than just the explanation of a science—it is a new vision of life.

Book The Physics of Consciousness

Download or read book The Physics of Consciousness written by Ivan Antic and published by . This book was released on 2021-05-08 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The true nature of consciousness is an issue of primary importance today. A great many deceptions exist today that create conflicts among humans and with nature itself. In the modern world, a real possibility exists that such a conflict could threaten the existence of humankind. It is logical to assume that every conflict is based on fundamental misunderstanding or lack of awareness of the true nature of existence. This is predicated on the notion that the consciousness and existence are the same thing. All misinterpretations and conflicts are rooted in differentiating consciousness from existence, i.e. separating what goes on in our head from what goes on in the outer world and dividing our thoughts from our words and deeds. This aim of this book is to confirm the nature of external existence as an indivisible part of our consciousness and essence. A logical framework of such a depiction of reality rests on the assumption that the consciousness which is in our mind is an integrated part of the same consciousness that creates the overall existence. Unlike what is thought traditionally, there is no multitude of consciousnesses; the consciousness is only one and the same in everything, it merely divides and utilizes itself in all of the aspects of existence. Consciousness and existence are one and the same, and together they comprise our essence, or the soul. The true nature of consciousness and existence cannot be separated from the true nature of our essence or the soul. In other words, we cannot live in the world in one way, be aware in another, and relate to our essence in some completely different way. The consciousness of our soul is inseparable from the world we live in. Our existence remains inauthentic, painful, and heartless, insofar as we keep ourselves apart from the consciousness of our soul; from consciousness itself; and from existence, as such. However, a simple statement that the consciousness and existence are the same is not enough. To make their unity crystal clear, the functioning of the consciousness is presented here in detail in different dimensions of nature and through various forms, from the quantum field, minerals, plants, and animals to human beings and the development of culture, the issue of artificial intelligence, ethics, and, ultimately, the discipline of self-knowledge. The unity of the divine consciousness that creates everything with our thoughts and actions is demonstrated and proved quite practically here. This is the only way in which a book that aspires to explain the world may have practial value.

Book The Emerging Physics of Consciousness

Download or read book The Emerging Physics of Consciousness written by Jack A. Tuszynski and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-09-05 with total page 500 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Seeks answers to these questions using the underlying assumption that consciousness can be understood using the intellectual potential of modern physics and other sciences. There are a number of theories of consciousness, some based on classical physics while others require the use of quantum concepts. The latter ones have drawn criticism from the parts of the scientific establishment while simultaneously claiming that classical approaches are doomed to failure. The contributing authors presents a spectrum of opinions from both sides of this on-going scientific debate, allowing readers to decide for themselves which of the approaches are most likely to succeed.

Download or read book Stairway to the Mind written by Alwyn Scott and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 233 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Human consciousness has perplexed philosophers, artists and scientists for centuries. Some hold it to be purely physical, while others believe it transcends the material world. Now comes a book that offers a new perspective - based entirely on evidence from the natural sciences - whereby materialism and dualism co-exist. The author - a distinguished pioneer of nonlinear dynamics - bases his argument on a hierarchical view of mental organization; a stairway. Atoms give rise to molecules, neurons form the brain and individual consciousness leads to shared culture. All steps are needed to complete the picture and each level derives from the previous one. The book shows specialists how each of their fields adds to the overall picture, while providing general readers with an introduction to this investigation.

Book Free Will and Consciousness in the Multiverse

Download or read book Free Will and Consciousness in the Multiverse written by Christian D. Schade and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-01-29 with total page 246 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is hard to interpret quantum mechanics. The most surprising, but also most parsimonious, interpretation is the many-worlds, or quantum-multiverse interpretation, implying a permanent coexistence of parallel realities. Could this perhaps be the appropriate interpretation of quantum mechanics? This book collects evidence for this interpretation, both from physics and from other fields, and proposes a subjectivist version of it, the clustered-minds multiverse. The author explores its implications through the lens of decision making and derives consequences for free will and consciousness. For example, free will can be implemented in the form of vectorial choices, as introduced in the book. He furthermore derives consequences for research in the social sciences, especially in psychology and economics.

Book Quantum Enigma

    Book Details:
  • Author : Bruce Rosenblum
  • Publisher : Oxford University Press

Download or read book Quantum Enigma written by Bruce Rosenblum and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2011-08-01 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In trying to understand the atom, physicists built quantum mechanics, the most successful theory in science and the basis of one-third of our economy. They found, to their embarrassment, that with their theory, physics encounters consciousness. Authors Bruce Rosenblum and Fred Kuttner explain all this in non-technical terms with help from some fanciful stories and anecdotes about the theory's developers. They present the quantum mystery honestly, emphasizing what is and what is not speculation. Quantum Enigma's description of the experimental quantum facts, and the quantum theory explaining them, is undisputed. Interpreting what it all means, however, is heatedly controversial. But every interpretation of quantum physics involves consciousness. Rosenblum and Kuttner therefore turn to exploring consciousness itself--and encounter quantum mechanics. Free will and anthropic principles become crucial issues, and the connection of consciousness with the cosmos suggested by some leading quantum cosmologists is mind-blowing. Readers are brought to a boundary where the particular expertise of physicists is no longer the only sure guide. They will find, instead, the facts and hints provided by quantum mechanics and the ability to speculate for themselves. In the few decades since the Bell's theorem experiments established the existence of entanglement (Einstein's "spooky action"), interest in the foundations, and the mysteries, of quantum mechanics has accelerated. In recent years, physicists, philosophers, computer engineers, and even biologists have expanded our realization of the significance of quantum phenomena. This second edition includes such advances. The authors have also drawn on many responses from readers and instructors to improve the clarity of the book's explanations.
