Book Polymeric Dental Materials

Download or read book Polymeric Dental Materials written by Michael Braden and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 135 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Braden and his coauthors give a comprehensive overview of the use of polymers and polymer composites as dental materials. These comprise polyelectrolyte based materials, elastomers, glassy and crystalline polymers and fibres. Such materials are used in dentistry as restorative materials, hard and soft prostheses, and impression materials. The chemistry of materials is reviewed, together with mechanical, thermal, visco-elastic and water solution properties. These properties are related to clinical performance, with emphasis on some of the difficulties inherent in developing materials for oral use. Indications are given of possible future developments.

Book Adhesive Restorative Dental Materials

Download or read book Adhesive Restorative Dental Materials written by D. L. Venezky and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 88 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A new adhesive restorative dental material must meet rigid requirements. These must be kept in mind in screening inorganic polymer systems reported in the literature; but since the available literature data are limited, only three requirements-toxicity, chemical stability, and ease of manipulation-were used in this evaluation. The problem was approached by considering polymers according to the group number of the elements contained in the polymer backbone. The inorganic polymers were in turn grouped into three classes: Class 1, polymers having only one element in the polymer backbone; Class 2, polymers having two different elements in the backbone; and Class 3, polymers having three or more different elements in the backbone. Inorganic polymer systems which appear most promising for use as dental materials are the Class 2 polymers containing linear silicon-oxygen backbones and Class 2 polymers containing boron-phosphorus or phosphorusnitrogen ring systems as moieties in the backbone. Book Materials Chemicals and Methods for Dental Applications

Download or read book Materials Chemicals and Methods for Dental Applications written by Johannes Karl Fink and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2018-03-27 with total page 330 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Includes both a broad technical overview of dental materials and the chemicals that are used for the preparation and fabrication of dental materials in all dental applications This book focuses on the materials used for dental applications by looking at the fundamental issues and the developments that have taken place the past decade. While it provides a broad overview of dental materials, the chemicals that are used for the preparation and fabrication of dental materials are explained as well. Also, the desired properties of these materials are discussed and the relevance of the chemical, physical, and mechanical properties is elucidated. Methods for the characterization and classification, as well as clinical studies are reviewed here. In particular, materials for dental crowns, implants, toothpaste compositions, mouth rinses, as well as materials for toothbrushes and dental floss are discussed. For example, in toothpaste compositions, several classes of materials and chemicals are incorporated, such as abrasives, detergents, humectants, thickeners, sweeteners, coloring agents, bad breath reduction agents, flavoring agents, tartar control agents, and others. These chemicals, together with their structures, are detailed in the text.

Book Physical Properties of Dental Materials Classic Reprint

Download or read book Physical Properties of Dental Materials Classic Reprint written by Wilmer Souder and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-11-17 with total page 230 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Physical Properties of Dental Materials This publication on the physical and chemical properties of dental materials consummates twenty-three years of research at the National Bureau of Standards. The research developed out of a request by a Federal department for assistance in formulating a specification for dental amalgam. During 1919 - 1922 the Bureau carried on the work alone; from 1922 - 1928 the Weinstein Research laboratories cooperated; since 1928 the American Dental Association through its Research Commission has maintained a research sta at the Bureau to cooperate in the program. Since 1919 more than a hundred reports of the work have been printed in various journals and in Bureau publications. The present publication is in reality a condensation and a résumé of all of these reports. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
