Book The Landscape of Pastoral Learning

Download or read book The Landscape of Pastoral Learning written by Ronald R. Rojas and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2021-07-29 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Those experienced in pastoral formation realize that pastoral experiences are best converted into pastoral learning when adequately targeted, practiced, and processed. This handbook suggests five conceptual underpinnings to improve the pastoral learning environment in a parish setting: (a) the significance of the term "vocation", (b) Church guidance for pastoral learning, (c) principles of experiential learning, (d) knowing the difference between career mentoring and pastoral mentoring, and (e) the value of group processing of pastoral experiences. These underpinnings provide the rationale for suggesting the concept of Teaching Parish, a model that parallels the Teaching Hospital.

Book Introducci n al asesoramiento pastoral de la familia AETH

Download or read book Introducci n al asesoramiento pastoral de la familia AETH written by Jorge E. Maldonado and published by Abingdon Press. This book was released on 2004-05-01 with total page 162 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Pastoral Quechua explores the story of how the Spanish priests and missionaries of the Catholic church in post-conquest Peru systematically attempted to “incarnate” Christianity in Quechua, a large family of languages and dialects spoken by the dense Andes populations once united under the Inca empire. By codifying (and imposing) a single written standard, based on a variety of Quechua spoken in the former Inca capital of Cuzco, and through their translations of devotional, catechetical, and liturgical texts for everyday use in parishes, the missionary translators were on the front lines of Spanish colonialism in the Andes. The Christian pastoral texts in Quechua are important witnesses to colonial interactions and power relations. Durston examines the broad historical contexts of Christian writing in Quechua; the role that Andean religious images and motifs were given by the Spanish translators in creating a syncretic Christian-Andean iconography of God, Christ, and Mary; the colonial linguistic ideologies and policies in play; and the mechanisms of control of the subjugated population that can be found in the performance practices of Christian liturgy, the organization of the texts, and even in certain aspects of grammar.

Book Marc Antoine Charpentier

Download or read book Marc Antoine Charpentier written by Catherine Cessac and published by . This book was released on 1995 with total page 580 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although Charpentier left little trace of his worldly existence, his music fortunately has been preserved nearly in its entirety. This book is the first comprehensive study of his approximately 550 compositions, including a number of important pieces that remain relatively unknown. A discussion of the composer's theoretical writings, a complete catalog of Charpentier's works, and an extensive bibliography are all given here. While Charpentier's life and personality are still shrouded in mystery, our knowledge about him has nevertheless increased considerably over the past few years, and it will certainly continue to be enriched by new discoveries in the future. His music, for the most part still unknown both on disc and in concert, is waiting for performers to reveal all its facets, and for an ever-growing public finally to discover Charpentier as one of France's most remarkable composers.

Book Pastoral Drama and Healing in Early Modern Italy

Download or read book Pastoral Drama and Healing in Early Modern Italy written by Dr Federico Schneider and published by Ashgate Publishing, Ltd.. This book was released on 2013-04-28 with total page 360 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Pastoral Drama and Healing in Early Modern Italy represents the first full-length study to confront seriously the well-rehearsed analogy of the pastoral poet as healer. Usually associated with the edifying function of the Renaissance pastoral, this analogy, if engaged more profoundly, raises a number of questions that remain unanswered to this day. How does the pastoral heal? How exactly do the inner workings of the text cater to the healing? What socio-cultural conventions make the healing possible? What are the major problems that pastoral poetry as mimesis must overcome to make its healing morally legitimate? In the wake of Derrida's seminal work on the Platonic pharmakon, which has in turn led recent criticism to formulate a much more concrete understanding of the theater/drug analogy, the stringent approach to the therapeutic function of the Renaissance pastoral offered in this work provides a valuable critical tool to unpack the complexity contained within a little-understood cliché.

Book Agricultural and Pastoral Landscapes in Pre Industrial Society

Download or read book Agricultural and Pastoral Landscapes in Pre Industrial Society written by Fèlix Retamero and published by Oxbow Books. This book was released on 2014-12-01 with total page 353 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Through a series of case studies, this third volume in the Earth series deals with the technological constraints and innovations that enabled societies to survive and thrive across a range of environmental conditions. The contributions are structured into three sections to draw out particular commonalities and contrasts in the choices made by pre-industrial communities in the construction of varied landscapes and cultural heritage: Landnam, from the Old Norse for ‘taking of land’, deals with colonization, including the drivers and processes through which colonizers developed an understanding of the productive potential and limitations of their new lands. Fields and field systems: Field-walls are a distinctive and apparently timeless characteristic of many pre-industrial farming landscapes but they present many the challenges to their study, such as the effects of plowing, abandonment and land-use change and of urban development in fertile lowland zones which may eradicate, reduce or conceal past systems of land-use and division. The importance of indirect and proxy evidence is illustrated and the value of interdisciplinary and modeling approaches emphasized. Agro-pastoralism: focuses on the complex ‘time-space adaptations’ devised for managing cultivation and livestock production, particularly the need to prevent stock incursions into arable fields during the growing season whilst making effective use of seasonal grazing resources. The contributions focus on mountainous areas, where temporary migrations, in the form of transhumance, provided access to a diversity of resources based around seasonal constraints on their availability and productivity.

Book Pastoral Care and Monasticism in Latin Christianity and Japanese Buddhism ca 800 1650

Download or read book Pastoral Care and Monasticism in Latin Christianity and Japanese Buddhism ca 800 1650 written by Toshio Ohnuki, Gert Melville, Yuichi Akae, Kazuhisa Takeda and published by LIT Verlag Münster. This book was released on with total page 282 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Monasticism has a special position in the history of pastoral care. It produced innovations in various aspects of pastoral care despite, or more precisely, because of its isolation in legal or social terms from the secular world. The thirteen papers contained in this volume will reveal that there was a great variety in the ways pastoral care continued to be practised by monasticism, depending on time, space, and the nature of each religious order. Adopting a comparative approach, their historical and geographical range of investigation is not limited to medieval Europe but expands to the Americas and even to Japan in the early Modern Age. This volume bases on a conference held on 1 and 2 March 2019 at Okayama University, Japan, as part of the close collaboration between a Japanese research group on Christian/Buddhist religious movements and the Research Project "Monasteries in the High Middle Ages: Innovation Laboratories for European Life Designs and Regulatory Models" of the Saxon and the Heidelberg Academies of Sciences and Humanities, as well as the Research Center for Comparative History of Religious Orders (FOVOG, Dresden).
