Book The Owned Media Doctrine

Download or read book The Owned Media Doctrine written by Taulbee Jackson and published by Archway Publishing. This book was released on 2013-07 with total page 239 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The Petraeus Doctrine for the 21st Century Marketer" The Owned Media Doctrine is to Marketing what The Petraeus Doctrine was to modern warfare - a complete re-thinking of philosophy, strategy and tactics, dictated by the way war has changed. Just like in warfare, marketing and media is not at all what it used to be - but marketers are still fighting the battle like it's 1965. The Owned Media Doctrine is just that, a new doctrine for Marketing. A new philosophy, strategic approach and operational model for the marketing operations function based on how media works today, and how it will work in the future. It's the marketer's field manual for today's two-way, real-time media environment. "In this remarkable - and remarkably useful - book, Jackson and Deckers provide the granular, step-by-step instructions and advice that senior digital marketers have craved for years. This is the book you'll keep on your desk forever (or at least until they have time to write the 2nd edition)." -Jay Baer - Convince & Convert "Reis and Trout changed the way we think with Marketing Warfare. Anderson did it with The Long Tail. Jackson eloquently welcomes us to the new age of Owned Media and the reality we face as real-time marketers. An immediate must read....and more importantly, an immediate must do." -Michael Grimes, VP, Omni-Channel Marketing at Finish Line "Everything in this book just makes so much sense! If the words "content" or "marketing" are anywhere in your job description do yourself a favor and read it cover to cover." -Shelly Towns, VP of Product at AngiesList.com The Owned Media Doctrine will show you a future-proof way to advance your marketing efforts based on real-world experience with some of the largest brands on the planet... and it will let the ever-changing media ecosystem evolve around you, rather than the other way around.

Book excerpt: An argument for retaining the notion of personal property in the products we “buy” in the digital marketplace. If you buy a book at the bookstore, you own it. You can take it home, scribble in the margins, put in on the shelf, lend it to a friend, sell it at a garage sale. But is the same thing true for the ebooks or other digital goods you buy? Retailers and copyright holders argue that you don't own those purchases, you merely license them. That means your ebook vendor can delete the book from your device without warning or explanation—as Amazon deleted Orwell's 1984 from the Kindles of surprised readers several years ago. These readers thought they owned their copies of 1984. Until, it turned out, they didn't. In The End of Ownership, Aaron Perzanowski and Jason Schultz explore how notions of ownership have shifted in the digital marketplace, and make an argument for the benefits of personal property. Of course, ebooks, cloud storage, streaming, and other digital goods offer users convenience and flexibility. But, Perzanowski and Schultz warn, consumers should be aware of the tradeoffs involving user constraints, permanence, and privacy. The rights of private property are clear, but few people manage to read their end user agreements. Perzanowski and Schultz argue that introducing aspects of private property and ownership into the digital marketplace would offer both legal and economic benefits. But, most important, it would affirm our sense of self-direction and autonomy. If we own our purchases, we are free to make whatever lawful use of them we please. Technology need not constrain our freedom; it can also empower us.

Book Paid Owned Earned

Download or read book Paid Owned Earned written by Nick Burcher and published by Kogan Page Publishers. This book was released on 2012-03-03 with total page 296 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The complexity of media that now sees multiple channels accessed through multiple devices has created major challenges for today's marketing and advertising professionals. Consumer time is split between TVs, laptops, iPads, X-Boxes and smartphones, with traditional media, websites, videos, social networks and apps all competing for attention, meaning it's difficult for brands to decide how best to reach and engage their audiences. Paid, Owned, Earned defines the constituents of each area of 'paid', 'owned' and 'earned' media and shows how they are linked together. It proposes a blueprint for how to think and navigate across this space using a framework made up of key elements such as communities and content, social media optimisation, seeding and viral distribution, broadcast mass media, social performance media and measurement.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: She's terrified of me. She should be. I'm no saint, but apparently even killers have limits. When the Bratva hired me as security for the night, I didn't know it was a flesh trade. I could have kept my cool, done my job, but then I saw her. Pure as a lily, dressed in skimpy lingerie, and being auctioned off to the foulest men in Brighton Beach. I'm not used to this white knight sh*t, but I did what I had to do. I outbid those pieces of trash and bought myself a bride. What the hell do I do with a sweet, subservient woman who's been trained to obey her husband? I can think of some things my baser instincts want me to do... But when she submits to me, I'm going to be the man that deserves it, not just the one she owes it to. So I'm going to make her life better. I'm going to make her want me just as bad as I want her. And at night, when my new princess is slumbering, I'm going to make every one of those pimps pay in blood.

  • Pages : 184 pages

Download or read book Black X written by Tendayi Sithole and published by NYU Press. This book was released on 2024-02 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What does it mean to be Black in an anti-Black world? In Black X: Liberatory Thought in Azania, Tendayi Sithole offers a compelling example of how to engage South Africa differently. Set in the Black point of view as a site of critical reflection, he confronts the question of colonial conquest, social cohesion and justice. Since South Africa is a name given to the country by its conquerors, not by its indigenous inhabitants, for true liberation, a renaming needs to occur. The concept of Azania holds this emancipatory gesture. The post conquest, post 1994 liberal narratives mute the prevalence of racism while valorizing non-racialism and the transcendence of race. To indicate this silencing, the book deploys the concept of X, both as a signifier of repression and dehumanization of the Black subject, and as an empty signifier that holds the opportunity for radical and compassionate rehumanization. The book examines these strands of erasure and hope for the Black subject. Sithole scrutinizes the colonial contract, arguing that it is not a contract since there has never been an agreement between the indigenous people and the settler colonialists. This brings into focus the land question, specifically land dispossession and its existential connection to black life. The relevance of Black Consciousness to the Azanian existential tradition is based on Steve Biko’s case that Marxism ignores Black ontological misery through its valorization of class and failure to include anti-Black racism in its analysis of power. Finally, Sithole analyses Mabogo P. More’s philosophical meditations around what it means to be Black in an anti-Black world. In erasing the idea of South Africa and inscribing an open-ended naming of X, the book opens the way for something new to take its place that is imbued with greater humanity. This gesture opens up the potential to think about liberation in this country that is yet to rename and redefine itself.
