I have operated on about cataracts, and may therefore Claim to have met with most of the common complications that embarrass the ophthalmic surgeon. I can only say that, weighing, on the one hand, the dangers of couching, and, on the other, the so-called indications for its performance, I can think of no conditions which would lead me to undertake an operation which I regard both as unscientific and as opposed to the dictates of sound surgery.
