In this revision, Cheek has included additional cycles by Dvořák and Martinů, and two new chapters on Czech female composers Vítězslava Kaprálová and Sylvie Bodorová. With his wife, Susan Douglas Rubes, he helped develop Young People's Theatre in Toronto. A member of the Order of Canada and holder of two honourary doctorates, he has won Geminis for his film work. His life is rich in detail – he has been both a national tennis champion and an important part of the history of the performing arts in Canada.
