Book The One Deadly Mistake We All Make

Download or read book The One Deadly Mistake We All Make written by Terri J. Gerner and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2008-08 with total page 214 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The Bible is the Word of God. In it He makes known to man His Character and Will. It is given by inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and is profitable to all, teaching men what to believe, showing them in what they are wrong, instructing them in what is right. Although written by men, God directed them what to write and how to write, that as a rule of faith and guide to practice it might be perfect. A knowledge of this book is more to be desired than fine gold, for in understanding, believing and obeying it there is great reward, both here and hereafter." Quoted from "An Introductory History of The Manuscript and Early Printed Editions of the Holy Bible" (1876). The History of Man The Father they chose to disobey The Prophet they would not hear The Teacher they refused to be instructed by. From my earliest memory in time, I sensed things were not right. The words people spoke and the things they valued didn't make much sense to me. When I arrived at the age of legal adulthood I knew my life journey needed to focus on finding the answers to the "whys" of life-so I put myself through college, traveled, listened to the life stories of hundreds if not thousands of individuals (their true life story-not the story they play out in public), and studied the history and the basic core beliefs of established religions and famous philosophers. It wasn't until I took the time to study the "Book of Life" itself that I discovered the answers to the "whys" of life. I discovered The One Deadly Mistake. We All Make.

Book Deadly Mistakes

Download or read book Deadly Mistakes written by The Cox Brothers and published by Author House. This book was released on 2011-03-18 with total page 250 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When it comes to humor, Americans are said to hold nothing sacred. Deadly Mistakes: Real Obituaries Gone Amusingly Wrong is an example of that sentiment. Given our near obsession with fame and celebrity, it should come as no surprise that ordinary people would go to extraordinary lengths to be considered noteworthy. Deadly Mistakes provides the evidence in the obituaries of the unfamous. Average folks are remembered by family and friends in send-offs that unintentionally go off the rails in amusing and bizarre ways. What's to be said of someone whose family wants him to be remembered for inventing an electric pickle...that stinks? Of someone who, not wanting to give up his love of uniforms, became a campus police officer? Or of someone who achieved the mysterious title of Puissant Sovereign of the Red Cross of Constantine? Plenty. All this and more is included in Deadly Mistakes: Real Obituaries Gone Amusingly Wrong. These obituaries have not been edited (except for length and to remove last names). They stand on their own as commentary on the human need to find meaning in it all somehow, some way. Deadly Mistakes should remind readers of one thing: it's best to go out laughing. Just ask the guy whose memorial service was held at Hammerhead's Bar, just east of The Strip, in Vegas.

Book excerpt: A raw, powerful account of an infantryman's life during wartime -- complete with all the horrors and the heroism . . . Robert Peterson arrived in Vietnam in the fall of 1966, a young American ready to serve his country and seize his destiny. What happened in that jungle war would change his life forever. Peterson vividly relives the tense patrols in the Viet Cong -- infested Central Highlands, the fierce firefights along the Cambodian border, the ambushes and enemy charges. Daily he and his fellow grunts put their lives on the line, forced to blindly follow orders from higher-ups solely interested in reaping their own personal glory. Yet out of the deadly hell of Vietnam came a brotherhood -- forged in blood and courage, sacrifice and survival -- of men who continuously risked their lives for one another, whatever the odds. Rites of Passage is a shining testament to their valor.

Book Killer Genes

    Book Details:
  • Author : Filton Hebbard

  • Release : 2001
  • ISBN : 0595209912
  • Pages : 278 pages

Download or read book Killer Genes written by Filton Hebbard and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2001 with total page 278 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Killer Genes, a novel that evokes the harsh environment and rough characters of the Australian outback in the pioneering gold-mining days, is the latest work to emerge from the author’s fertile imagination. When the British decided to colonize Australia over two hundred years ago, scientific knowledge of the importance of genes and their influence on human behaviour was completely unknown. Genes, themselves, had yet to be discovered. Among the convicts forcibly expatriated from the motherland, was a brutal murderer with a family history of violence. His genes passed down the line until, over one hundred and fifty years later, a descendant, Harry Johnson, became aware of them and realized that not only had they affected his own life, they were magnified in the behavior of his only child, his son. He decided that he had a responsibility to society to try to remedy the situation by whatever method necessary, regardless of the drastic action he might be required to take and the personal pain that he must suffer.

Book Sub versions

Download or read book Sub versions written by Ciaran Ross and published by Rodopi. This book was released on 2010 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From Swift's repulsive shit-flinging Yahoos to Beckett's dying but never quite dead moribunds, Irish literature has long been perceived as being synonymous with subversion and all forms of subversiveness. But what constitutes a subversive text or a subversive writer in twenty-first-century Ireland? The essays in this volume set out to redefine and rethink the subversive potential of modern Irish literature. Crossing three central genres, one common denominator running through these essays whether dealing with canonical writers like Yeats, Beckett and Flann O'Brien, or lesser known contemporary writers like Sebastian Barry or Robert McLiam Wilson, is the continual questioning of Irish identity - Irishness - going from its colonial paradigm and stereotype of the subaltern in MacGill, to its uneasy implications for gender representation in the contemporary novel and the contemporary drama. A subsidiary theme inextricably linked to the identity problematic is that of exile and its radical heritage for all Irish writing irrespective of its different genres. Sub-Versions offers a cross-cultural and trans-national response to the expanding interest in Irish and postcolonial studies by bringing together specialists from different national cultures and scholarly contexts - Ireland, Britain, France and Central Europe. The order of the essays is by genre. This study is aimed both at the general literary reader and anyone particularly interested in Irish Studies.
