Book A Free Spirit

Download or read book A Free Spirit written by Paddy McMahon and published by Auricle Enterprises. This book was released on 2014-06-01 with total page 97 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Margaret Anna Cusack (1829 - 1899) was internationally famous as The Nun of Kenmare. She was an Anglican nun who converted to Roman Catholicism and founded an order of nuns called Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace. She was a dogged and compassionate champion of the underprivileged and a pioneering spirit in the cause of equal rights for women. Due to her public profile, she was in continuing difficulties with Church authorities and reverted to Protestantism in 1889. Since 1978, Paddy McMahon has been aware of Margaret communicating with him as a spirit guide. Early in July 1998 she intimated that she wished to collaborate with him in writing a book. This book is a record of the dialogue between them. In a wide-ranging exploration of the life in all its aspects, she says: "I want to shout a big YES to life, to the death of death, if I may put it like that, so that anybody and everybody can say - 'I know my body is going to die, but I know, too, that there's nothing to fear in that - it's a celebration of continuing transformation in life'. I want to go into detail about how I express myself in my present state and what life in spirit, generally, is like..."

Book excerpt: Since 1978 Paddy McMahon has been aware that one of his spirit guides lived on Earth from 1829 to 1899 as Margaret Anna Cusack, who was internationally famous as The Nun of Kenmare - a prolific writer, a dogged and compassionate champion of the underprivileged and a pioneering spirit in the cause of equal rights for women. This book is written as a form of dialogue between Margaret Anna and Paddy. The topics covered include suggestions towards achievement of easier communication between the spirit and physical dimensions, as well as helping souls who may be feeling lost or confused after the death of their physical bodies. Margaret Anna uses the stories of individual souls (whose identities are not revealed) to highlight how common sources of isolation and sadness can be transformed into joyful outcomes.

Download or read book Women in Ireland 1800 1918 written by Maria Luddy and published by Cork University Press. This book was released on 1995 with total page 388 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Women in Ireland 1800-1918 presents a valuable and significant collection of over 100 sources and documents relating to the public and private aspects of women's lives in Ireland during the period 1800-1918. The documents reveal aspects of the women's working lives, educational experiences, involvement in politics and of their private lives such as contraception, childbirth, love, marriage and religion. Each section has a comprehensive introduction which discusses the contents of the documents. As the first major survey of Irish women's lives during this period, it will appeal to those who want a deeper understanding of how women of all classes lived their lives and it will prove indispensable to second and third level students, those attending women's studies courses, as well as a wide general readership interested in assessing the role of women in nineteenth and early twentieth-century Irish history.
