Download or read book Trendy Bar and Nightclub Business Startup written by Michael Sanders and published by . This book was released on 2018-03-22 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Trendy Bar & Nightclub Business Startup How to Start, Run and Grow a Successful Bar & Tavern Business According to Statista, sales in the drinking sector in the United States have steadily grown since the mid-1990's reaching 23.15 billion U.S. dollars in 2015. The sector includes bars, pubs, lounges, taverns, and nightclubs as well as other drinking places that primarily sell alcoholic beverages for immediate consumption. The National Restaurant Association estimated that food and drink sales in U.S. bars and taverns would reach 19.9 billion U.S. dollars in 2016. This is a relatively small figure in comparison to the wider restaurant industry, for which food and drink sales were expected to rise to approximately 783 billion U.S. dollars during the same year. As a smart and savvy business person, I am sure you can understand that we all want to be a part of an industry that shows growth and not declines. What better industries to be a part of than this? Especially when this sector has shown steady growth for a year over year for decades. If you are not 100% convinced yet, here is little more of the truth from Investopedia. The bar, tavern and nightclub industry in the United States is expected to have total revenues greater than $24 billion in 2015. Of the total sales, 42% is made up of beer, 31% is made up of distilled beverages, and the remaining 27% is made up of food and other sales. The average revenue per employee for a bar establishment is roughly $64, making it an attractive business for an entrepreneur. I am sure, by now you would agree that getting into this line of business can be a great idea. But just because it is a great idea doesn't mean everyone has to open one of these right? Well, true. But you have to also understand; not everyone is cut out to owning and operating such business establishments. It takes a certain type of personality and willingness to own and operate and see great success in this business. Here is What I Show You in This book. Who And Why Should You Open A Bar Profitability Of A Bar Business Six Ways To Find Money To Start Your Business Knowing The Market And Setting A Trend Naming Your Bar Or Club Putting Together A Business Plan Legal Side Of Your Bar Business Incorporating Your Business EIN, Bank Account & City, County & State Licenses Liquor License (Application To Approval) Commercial, BOP & Liquor Liability Insurance How To Find An Existing Bar For Sale How To Find A Suitable Location Negotiating A Commercial Lease Planning And Building A Bar Signage, Menu, Décor & Furniture Sound, Lighting & Music Supplies & Equipment Management & Employees Managing Bar Inventory How To Calculate Inventory Usage, Pour Cost Drink Pricing, Profitability And POS Accounting & Bookkeeping Marketing & Promotion How To Increase And Upsell Liquor Additional Revenue Ideas And so much More Cheers and Good luck!

Book Nightclub City

    Book Details:
  • Author : Burton W. Peretti
  • Publisher : University of Pennsylvania Press
  • Release : 2013-04-19
  • ISBN : 0812203364
  • Pages : 304 pages

Download or read book Nightclub City written by Burton W. Peretti and published by University of Pennsylvania Press. This book was released on 2013-04-19 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the Roaring Twenties, New York City nightclubs and speakeasies became hot spots where traditions were flouted and modernity was forged. With powerful patrons in Tammany Hall and a growing customer base, nightclubs flourished in spite of the efforts of civic-minded reformers and federal Prohibition enforcement. This encounter between clubs and government-generated scandals, reform crusades, and regulations helped to redefine the image and reality of urban life in the United States. Ultimately, it took the Great Depression to cool Manhattan's Jazz Age nightclubs, forcing them to adapt and relocate, but not before they left their mark on the future of American leisure. Nightclub City explores the cultural significance of New York City's nightlife between the wars, from Texas Guinan's notorious 300 Club to Billy Rose's nostalgic Diamond Horseshoe. Whether in Harlem, Midtown, or Greenwich Village, raucous nightclub activity tested early twentieth-century social boundaries. Anglo-Saxon novelty seekers, Eastern European impresarios, and African American performers crossed ethnic lines while provocative comediennes and scantily clad chorus dancers challenged and reshaped notions of femininity. These havens of liberated sexuality, as well as prostitution and illicit liquor consumption, allowed their denizens to explore their fantasies and fears of change. The reactions of cultural critics, federal investigators, and reformers such as Fiorello La Guardia exemplify the tension between leisure and order. Peretti's research delves into the symbiotic relationships among urban politicians, social reformers, and the business of vice. Illustrated with archival photographs of the clubs and the characters who frequented them, Nightclub City is a dark and dazzling study of New York's bygone nightlife.

Book The Business of Partying

Download or read book The Business of Partying written by Alana Udwin and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2021-01-12 with total page 249 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Business of Partying examines the production, creativity, and strategy behind nightlife hospitality. The nightlife industry encompasses operating a nightclub, bar or other evening destination and marketing the “night out” experience. While not an easy business, it can be a lucrative one with numerous perks if it is done right. The author delves into the minds of nightlife’s leading experts and the business models of some of the top nightlife groups and venues in the United States. Tying two main topics together, the book explores how these venues break out of the clutter and how industry-specific marketing tactics have evolved in this digital age. Each generation typically employs some form of the “work hard, play hard” lifestyle, and nightlife brands must fight for their “play hard” attention and money. What makes each individual venue a unique nightlife experience, and what influences partygoers to choose that brand over another? This book is a collection of stories from an array of industry professionals who have created successful nightlife experiences.

Book The Gentrification of Nightlife and the Right to the City

Download or read book The Gentrification of Nightlife and the Right to the City written by Laam Hae and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2012-05-31 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In The Gentrification of Nightlife and the Right to the City, Hae explores how nightlife in New York City, long associated with various subcultures of social dancing, has been recently transformed as the city has undergone the gentrification of its space and the post-industrialization of its economy and society. This book offers a detailed analysis of the conflicts emerging between newly transplanted middle-class populations and different sectors of nightlife actors, and how these conflicts have led the NYC government to enforce “Quality of Life” policing over nightlife businesses. In particular, it provides a deep investigation of the zoning regulations that the municipal government has employed to control where certain types of nightlife can or cannot be located. Hae demonstrates the ways in which these struggles over nightlife have led to the “gentrification of nightlife,” while infringing on urban inhabitants’ rights of access to spaces of diverse urban subcultures – their “right to the city.” The author also connects these struggles to the widely documented phenomenon of the increasing militarization of social life and space in contemporary cities, and the right to the city movements that have emerged in response. The story presented here involves dynamic and often contradictory interactions between different anti/pro-nightlife actors, illustrating what “actually existing” gentrification and post-industrialization looks like, and providing an urgent example for experts in related fields to consider as part of a re-theorization of gentrification and post-industrialization.

Book Nightlife Lessons How I Conquered the Business of Partying with Tech and a Glimpse Into Its Future

This book was released on 2023-08-08 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. In Nightlife Lessons, Neman takes you behind the velvet ropes so you can too. With sharp insight, humor, and gratitude, the three-time startup founder and venture capitalist shows in this unlikely business book how with tenacity and ambition, you can transform any industry. In the pre-social media and camera-phone days of the new millennium and fresh off his failed first business, Neman was starting from scratch with no budget but a huge idea: bring the hopelessly outdated event promotion and hospitality worlds into the digital age. The result is JoonBug, which blended his passion for partying and nose for technology to become a multimillion-dollar stepping stone to serial entrepreneurship and a grounded personal life. Neman connects with a wide range of players: from drag queens, ravers, and club kids, to celebs, Wall Street suits, and bridge-and-tunnel partiers, to the city's most influential club owners and promoters. Using Neman's tech innovations, all mix and mingle at iconic venues, whether dilapidated warehouses or Swarovski-studded alcoves of luxury. Nightlife Lessons is packed with perceptive takeaways from his comeback, advice on how industry insiders still need to evolve, and predictions for how partiers will experience nightlife in the future. Neman's business path is an inspirational ride through New York's hot spots. If you can make it there, you can make it anywhere . . . and take it with you everywhere.

Book Planning the Night time City

Download or read book Planning the Night time City written by Marion Roberts and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2012-11-12 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The night-time economy represents a particular challenge for planners and town centre managers. In the context of liberalised licensing and a growing culture around the '24-hour city', the desire to foster economic growth and to achieve urban regeneration has been set on a collision course with the need to maintain social order. Roberts and Eldridge draw on extensive case study research, undertaken in the UK and internationally, to explain how changing approaches to evening and night-time activities have been conceptualised in planning practice. The first to synthesise recent debates on law, health, planning and policy, this research considers how these dialogues impact upon the design, management, development and the experience of the night-time city. This is incisive and highly topical reading for postgraduates, academics and reflective practitioners in Planning, Urban Design and Urban Regeneration.

Book Upscaling Downtown

  • Author : Richard E. Ocejo

  • ISBN : 0691176310

Download or read book Upscaling Downtown written by Richard E. Ocejo and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2017-04-11 with total page 271 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Once known for slum-like conditions in its immigrant and working-class neighborhoods, New York City's downtown now features luxury housing, chic boutiques and hotels, and, most notably, a vibrant nightlife culture. While a burgeoning bar scene can be viewed as a positive sign of urban transformation, tensions lurk beneath, reflecting the social conflicts within postindustrial cities. Upscaling Downtown examines the perspectives and actions of disparate social groups who have been affected by or played a role in the nightlife of the Lower East Side, East Village, and Bowery. Using the social world of bars as windows into understanding urban development, Richard Ocejo argues that the gentrifying neighborhoods of postindustrial cities are increasingly influenced by upscale commercial projects, causing significant conflicts for the people involved. Ocejo explores what community institutions, such as neighborhood bars, gain or lose amid gentrification. He considers why residents continue unsuccessfully to protest the arrival of new bars, how new bar owners produce a nightlife culture that attracts visitors rather than locals, and how government actors, including elected officials and the police, regulate and encourage nightlife culture. By focusing on commercial newcomers and the residents who protest local changes, Ocejo illustrates the contested and dynamic process of neighborhood growth. Delving into the social ecosystem of one emblematic section of Manhattan, Upscaling Downtown sheds fresh light on the tensions and consequences of urban progress.

Book Queer Nightlife

Download or read book Queer Nightlife written by Kemi Adeyemi and published by University of Michigan Press. This book was released on 2021-05-03 with total page 307 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The mass shooting at a queer Latin Night in Orlando in July 2016 sparked a public conversation about access to pleasure and selfhood within conditions of colonization, violence, and negation. Queer Nightlife joins this conversation by centering queer and trans people of color who apprehend the risky medium of the night to explore, know, and stage their bodies, genders, and sexualities in the face of systemic and social negation. The book focuses on house parties, nightclubs, and bars that offer improvisatory conditions and possibilities for “stranger intimacies,” and that privilege music, dance, and sexual/gender expressions. Queer Nightlife extends the breadth of research on “everynight life” through twenty-five essays and interviews by leading scholars and artists. The book’s four sections move temporally from preparing for the night (how do DJs source their sounds, what does it take to travel there, who promotes nightlife, what do people wear?); to the socialities of nightclubs (how are social dance practices introduced and taught, how is the price for sex negotiated, what styles do people adopt to feel and present as desirable?); to the staging and spectacle of the night (how do drag artists confound and celebrate gender, how are spaces designed to create the sensation of spectacularity, whose bodies become a spectacle already?); and finally, how the night continues beyond the club and after sunrise (what kinds of intimacies and gestures remain, how do we go back to the club after Orlando?).

Book That Toddlin Town

  • Author : Charles A. Sengstock
  • Publisher : University of Illinois Press
  • Release : 2004
  • ISBN : 9780252029547
  • Pages : 322 pages

Download or read book That Toddlin Town written by Charles A. Sengstock and published by University of Illinois Press. This book was released on 2004 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As a center for jazz and blues, vaudeville, and a budding recording industry, Chicago and its environs probably spawned more nationally recognized dance bands than any other city in the United States in the 1920s and 30s. While ample attention has been paid to their black counterparts, That Toddlin' Town looks at the history of the white dance bands, theater orchestras, radio studio ensembles and night club bands. Sengstock examines these bands not only in terms of the music they played but also in the context of the venues in which they played and Chicago's volatile economic and social climate. Viewing the bands as an economic system, he analyzes them as businesses with all the usual pressures brought on by ambition, personality clashes, and the overriding need to serve clients. More than a mere popular phenomenon, these dance bands--along with their charismatic leaders, powerful booking agencies, and the Chicago Federation of Musicians--had a major impact on the music industry at large and influence over other entertainment media.
