Free of Copyright! -- Received a perfect "accuracy score" of 100 from Compass Distributors. -- Used daily by pastors, missionaries and laypeople worldwide. -- Includes more footnotes than other translations, allowing for easy, in-depth study. What if Christians worldwide could read, copy and freely distribute a modern and accurate translation of God's Word -- without worrying about copyright laws? Thanks to the New Heart English Bible, they can! The New Heart English Bible balances a literal, word-for-word translation with easy-to-understand language. It avoids the pitfalls of translations that paraphrase God's Word, but it also seeks to avoid the rigid nature of other word-for-word translations. Unlike other English translations that are protected by copyrights, the New Heart English Bible (NHEB) can be read, quoted, copied, translated and distributed for free without receiving permission from a publisher. And unlike the King James Version -- the most popular public domain Bible -- the NHEB can be understood easily by the modern reader. The result: a modern version of God's Word that can be spread across the globe freely. While other translations limit the number of verses that can be copied or reprinted, the NHEB encourages such distribution. Each printed copy includes a link to a free PDF. Examples of well-known verses from the NHEB: -- "For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that whoever believes in him will not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3:16). -- "We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose" (Romans 8:28). -- "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9). The NHEB presents the most updated scholarship and best manuscripts to share the New Testament with complete accuracy. The NHEB includes more footnotes than other translations. The footnotes provide the reader with a quick glance at alternate translations, without interfering with normal reading. Don't be limited by other Bible translations. Grab your copy of the New Heart English Bible and enjoy the New Testament in a modern-yet-accurate format that's free of copyright.

Book The New Testament

  • Author : Michael Straus
  • Publisher :
  • Release : 2019-05-02
  • ISBN : 1532648774
  • Pages : 583 pages

Download or read book The New Testament written by Michael Straus and published by . This book was released on 2019-05-02 with total page 583 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My goal in this translation has been to bring some fresh turns of phrase to the Gospels, histories, letters, and revelatory texts already familiar to English readers and listeners, not least because they are the source of sayings and stories embedded in our language by virtue of the long dominance of the King James Version of the Bible. Although the Hebrew and Greek materials used for that version had their flaws, the quality of the English can hardly be improved upon. Some later translations relying on better materials have improved the accuracy of the text, but rarely the rhythm and force of the style. My aim is therefore not to supplant other translations so much as to shed light on obscure passages; capture aspects of the man Jesus' personality as presented distinctively in the Gospels; convey in relatively plain language Christian doctrine and experience as related in Acts and the Epistles; and reflect the atemporal nature of the Book of Revelation. I have generally aimed for fluid, contemporary language--avoiding the overly literal, freely adopting the colloquial, and taking grammatical license where the writer employed imagery not subject to standard linguistic limitations. My goal is a user-friendly translation at once enjoyable, novelistic, and at times poetic. ""Good translations take risks and let you read a familiar text as though for the first time. This irresistibly colloquial and energetic version of Christian Scripture keeps up a flow of linguistic vigor and sheds much fresh light: both the narratives of the Gospels and the arguments of the Epistles are presented with memorable vividness, and the rendering of the Book of Revelation is a genuine tour de force. There are definitely some high-risk decisions, but the overall impression is of a text that is wonderfully and confidently alive."" --Rowan Williams, Anglican bishop, former Archbishop of Canterbury ""Now more than ever, when sacred texts are too often used as weapons of terror, there is a need to make the gospel message of love and justice accessible. Michael Straus does this in his translation of the New Testament. Michael's scholarship and passion bring the New Testament alive for a skeptical world in need of a trusting word."" --Kelly Brown Douglas, Dean of Episcopal Divinity School, Union Theological Seminary ""This is a pearl of great price."" --James Diggle, Emeritus Professor of Greek and Latin, University of Cambridge ""There is no question that we live in an age when words matter. They have the power to inspire and to incite, to create and to destroy, to mobilize and to suppress. Straus has taken a text that has done all of this throughout its history and has given it fresh expression, nuanced meaning, and befitting urgency. At times he chooses literal accuracy, and at times he takes poetic license, all the while remaining faithful to original context and intent, even as he attempts to capture its relevance for this present age. This translation is not only elegantly innovative, but it also brims with the vigor and revolutionary spirit so present at the moments of its original composition. It is a gift apt for an age when words matter supremely."" --Javier A. Viera, Vice Provost, Dean of the Theological School, Drew University ""I have used this translation in my church and Bible studies and the response has been electric. The parishioners hear the Scripture being spoken to them in an entirely fresh way. In a world that hungers for authenticity, Michael Straus has blended a brilliant knowledge of Greek with a genius for the English language to produce a Holy Scripture as powerful as it is irresistible."" --Janet Broderick, All Saints Episcopal Church, Beverly Hills, California Michael Straus holds degrees in classical languages, law, and theology. He has previously published translations from Greek and Spanish. Anna Pipes is an artist based in New York.

This Bible edition concentrates on the translation of all chapters and verses of both the Old and New Testaments. Sample chapter:Book of JohnAbout this bookJohn's Gospel is one of the four Gospels. 'Gospel' means 'good news'. The Gospels are the books that tell us about Jesus' life on earth. John was one of the three disciples who knew the Lord Jesus Christ best. John called himself 'the disciple that Jesus loved'. We think that John wrote his Gospel in the city called Ephesus. He wrote it some years after Matthew, Mark and Luke wrote their Gospels. He wrote it about 70 years after Christ's birth.John's Gospel is different from the other three Gospels. It does not describe many things that the Gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke do describe. But it does include many things that are not in the other Gospels. John tells us much more about who Jesus was. John shows us Jesus as the Son of God - the only person who can cause us to live. John teaches us more about God's Spirit, too.At the beginning of his Gospel, John calls Jesus 'the Word'.Chapter 1The Word became human1 In the beginning, the Word was already there. The Word was with God. The Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 God made all things by the Word. God did not make anything without him. 4 It is the Word who causes us to live. And because of this, he was the light to all people. 5 The light shines in the dark, and the dark cannot put out the light.

Book Simple English Bible New Testament OE

Download or read book Simple English Bible New Testament OE written by and published by Ishi Press. This book was released on 2012 with total page 712 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Simple English Bible is a new translation of the Holy Bible. It is the result of an effort by several teams, not just one team, over a period of many years. The purpose was to reduce the Holy Bible to simple words not more than about six letters long. Any person with a Fifth Grade Reading Level and any foreign person who knows some English but is not fluent should be able to read and understand this Bible. A basic vocabulary of three thousand words was created for this Bible and this Bible only uses those words. Not only is this a reduction of the text to simpler words but it is also a completely new and original translation. Most other new editions of the Bible are simply rewrites of the well known King James Version of the Bible. By contrast, The Simple English Bible is an entirely new and original translation. This can be demonstrated by comparing almost any verse of the Bible.

Book excerpt: A Translator's Testimony. J.B. Phillips says: "I have felt compelled to write this book. IT is my testimony to the historicity and reliability of the New Testament. "Few people have had such a close and constant contact with the New Testament as I have had. Even fewer have taken the trouble to understand the business of 'communication.' I say this in no spirit of conceit; it is a matter of simple fact. I therefore felt that it was high time that someone, who has spent the best years of his life in studying both the New Testament and good modern communicative English, spoke out. I do not care a rap what the 'avant-garde' scholars say; I do very much care what God says and does." from the Forward, RING OF TRUTH

Book excerpt: The New English Bible, completed in 1970, was the culmination of more than twenty years' work by scholars and literary advisers representing the major Protestant churches of the British Isles. An authoritative translation made directly from the best Hebrew and Greek texts and founded on all the resources of contemporary scholarship, it aimed to present the full meaning of the original in clear and natural modern English. This approach marked a departure from the prevailing Bible translation philosophy and to this day the NEB has a significant place in the history of the Bible in English. The New English Bible is now reissued in this classic 'Library Edition' format to coincide with the reissue of the complete Cambridge Bible Commentaries series, which was itself based on the NEB text.

Book The Kingdom New Testament

Download or read book The Kingdom New Testament written by N. T. Wright and published by Harper Collins. This book was released on 2011-10-25 with total page 545 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The New Testament for the Twenty-First Century Many readers of the New Testament have grown overly familiar with the biblical text, losing sight of the wonder and breadth of its innovative ideas and world-changing teachings about the life and role of Jesus of Nazareth. In The Kingdom New Testament, N. T. Wright, author and one of the world’s leading New Testament scholars, offers an all-new English translation that invigorates these sacred texts and allows contemporary readers to encounter these historic works afresh. The original Greek text is vibrant, alive, and active, and Wright’s translation retains that spirit by providing a new English text for the twenty-first-century reader. At the same time, based on his work as a pioneering interpreter of the Bible, Wright also corrects other translations so as to provide more accurate representations of the original writers’ intent. The Kingdom New Testament features consistent use of gender-neutral language and a more “popular-level” language matching character of the original Greek, while maintaining the vibrancy and urgency of the original work. It will help the next generation of Christians acquire a firsthand understanding of what the New Testament had to say in its own world, and what it urgently has to say in ours. Features: Complete text of the Kingdom New Testament—a fresh, new translation by N. T. Wright Preface by N. T. Wright Dozens of maps throughout the text Paragraph headings
