Book Angel Just Rights

Download or read book Angel Just Rights written by Rebecca Parkerpeglerpegler and published by Chipmunkapublishing ltd. This book was released on 2011-06-01 with total page 376 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: DescriptionAngel Just-Rights tells of a plethora of mortifyingly unhealthy, demoralising, ritualistic and compelling behaviours that manifest deeply in a fragile life so touched by the world around her. This is an exclusive account, based on the remarkable and true story of Rebecca Parker (also known as Micci), the Protagonist and Author. Laugh! Shout! Cry, as we're finally invited to join this incredible quest for freedom. Delving into issues relating to everyday living such as dealing with strict family values, loyalty and devotion, the author intermittently riddles with her reader in efforts to gain the yearned-for rationality and reassurance she so desperately seeks. During chaotic deciphering, Parker encounters incongruence in evaluations as, how can implicitly pure intentions - living life selflessly protecting those you love - precipitate such devastating results? Parker gradually learns how coping in silence can cruelly fester, hastening devastating consequences: severe eating disorders (Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia), post-traumatic stresses and flash-backs, self-harm and suicidal desires, problems with extreme over-exercise and increasing obsessions, rituals, distorted beliefs leading to incredibly debilitating episodes of low self-esteem, depression, hospitalisations, sectioning under the Mental Health Act and associated inequitable treatments enforced.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Martha Harris (1919-1987) was one of the most influential and also one of the most loved psychoanalysts of the generation that trained with Melanie Klein. She also worked with Wilfred Bion, and wrote many books and papers on psychoanalytic training and child development. Her colleague James Gammill cites Mrs Klein as saying: She is one of the best people I have ever known for the psychoanalysis of children ... and she has a mind of her own. Harris was responsible for the child psychotherapy training at the Tavistock Clinic from 1960 onwards, developing laterally the method founded on infant observation that had been put in place by Esther Bick. She established cross-clinic work discussion groups, a pioneering schools' counselling course (in collaboration with her husband Roland Harris), and individual work with disturbed children in the school environment. Her belief that psychoanalytic ideas could and should travel, both geographically and across the professions, led to her seeding the Tavi Model in many other countries through regular teaching trips, in company with her later husband Donald Meltzer. Her influence was not as a theorist, but as a teacher with an extraordinary capacity to engage processes of introjective learning in both students and readers. This tribute by some of those who studied with her is not simply testimony to a remarkable teacher and clinician whose wisdom has been rarely equalled; it also offers inspiration to others who may be struggling to find ways of using psychoanalytic ideas imaginatively in a variety of contexts - clinical, social or scholarly - in what can at times appear to be an unreceptive world.

Book Inventory

    Book Details:
  • Author : A.V. Club
  • Publisher : Simon and Schuster
  • Release : 2009-10-13
  • ISBN : 1439109893
  • Pages : 532 pages

Download or read book Inventory written by A.V. Club and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2009-10-13 with total page 532 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Each week, the writers of The A.V. Club issue a slightly slanted pop-culture list filled with challenging opinions (Is David Bowie's "Young Americans" nearly ruined by saxophone?) and fascinating facts. Exploring twenty-four great films too painful to watch twice, fourteen tragic movie-masturbation scenes, eighteen songs about crappy cities, and much more, Inventory combines a massive helping of new lists created especially for the book with a few favorites first seen at AVClub.com and in the pages of The A.V. Club’s sister publication, The Onion. But wait! There's more: John Hodgman offers a set of minutely detailed (and probably fictional) character actors. Patton Oswalt waxes ecstatic about the "quiet film revolutions" that changed cinema in small but exciting ways. Amy Sedaris lists fifty things that make her laugh. "Weird Al" Yankovic examines the noises of Mad magazine's Don Martin. Plus lists from Paul Thomas Anderson, Robert Ben Garant, Tom Lennon, Andrew W.K., Tim and Eric, Daniel Handler, and Zach Galifianakis—and an epic foreword from essayist Chuck Klosterman.

Book The Girl in the Painted Caravan

Download or read book The Girl in the Painted Caravan written by Eva Petulengro and published by Pan Macmillan. This book was released on 2011-02-04 with total page 249 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Born into a Romany gypsy family in 1939, Eva Petulengro’s childhood seemed to her to be idyllic in every way. She would travel the country with her family in their painted caravan and spend evenings by the fire as they sang and told stories of their past. She didn’t go to school or visit a doctor when she was unwell. Instead her family would gather wild herbs to make traditional remedies, hunt game and rabbits, and while the men tended horses to make a living, the young girls would join the women in reading palms. But Eva’s perfect world would be turned upside down as the countryside became increasingly hostile to all travellers. Eva describes the wonderful characters in her family, from her grandfather ‘Naughty’ Petulengro to her four beautiful aunts who entranced everyone they met, as well as the fascinating people they came across on the road. Moving, evocative, romantic and funny, The Girl in the Painted Caravan vividly captures a way of life that has now, sadly, all but disappeared.

Book Stories from India Volume One

Download or read book Stories from India Volume One written by Paramhansa Yogananda and published by Crystal Clarity Publishers. This book was released on 2022-03-31 with total page 103 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Stories from India This treasury of Indian tales will delight both the casual reader and students of Eastern thought. Featuring a gamut of characters—from saints to thieves, God-realized masters to lions and frogs—these stories were all told by Paramhansa Yogananda in his lectures, informal talks, and writings. Yogananda, author of the best-selling spiritual title Autobiography of a Yogi, knew that stories have a way of bringing out a childlike openness within us, regardless of our age. In that openness, heart and mind make connections the intellect alone may miss. He told these tales to illustrate the spiritual and practical truths he was teaching. It is not enough to be inspired by spiritual truths. We must be able to apply those teachings to our daily lives. Each story is followed by a “Wisdom Gem,” illuminating spiritually vital topics such as Right Action, Courage, Unconditional Love, Faith, and Wisdom—an enjoyable way to explore and reflect on these universal principles. For ease of use, the stories are indexed by the qualities they illustrate. Whether you are a teacher, parent, student, or devotee, these stories are resource to turn to again and again for inspiration, sharing and personal study.
