This cutting out has reduced the number of names about one thousand, but it is hoped the value of the list has thereby been increased. Every address thus eliminated has had at least two circulars sent without effect. All names from which the editor has had communications within eight months are followed by an asterisk(*). In the second part of the work, the numbers, corresponding with those in the body of the book are arranged alphabetically by states, and by special studies under each state. It is hoped this portion will be useful to parties desiring to find collectors in any department or in any special locality.
