Book Mysteries of the Universe Unveiled

Download or read book Mysteries of the Universe Unveiled written by Satya Prakash Verma and published by Partridge Publishing. This book was released on 2015-03-21 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In spite of the fact that the story of Blind Students and the Elephant is merely a story, the same has been repeated several times in the history of the mankind right from the primordial times till to-date; in fact this is the way science has gradually grown on its journey of evolution. Scientists have to face similar situations on many occasions; they never get full information before devising any theory, instead they discover part-truths in several steps, each of which is discovered after long periods of time. This is analogous to concept developed by a blind man who forms an idea about the elephant by touches only one of its body-part. Scientists can therefore consider only one aspect of a problem at a time; they encounter with other aspects of the same problem at a much later point of time. At times such a situation might lead to misconceptions. Sometimes such misconceptions, conceived by some renowned personalities, are even considered to be very brilliant ideas and valuable achievements. As a result heritage of falsified knowledge had been transferred, several times in the past, to at least next 3-4 generations. This becomes possible because common man blindly follows renowned persons who are considered to be wise; normally no one even bothers to verify the truth; this is the greatest misfortune of the human kind. Misjudging or regarding such misconceptions as valuable discoveries might cause science to divagate from its path to find out absolute truth; a very long and valuable time might also be lost in elimination of such misconceptions.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the glaciers of the Alps to the towering cumulonimbus clouds of the Caribbean and the unexpectedly chaotic flows of the North Atlantic, Waters of the World is a tour through 150 years of the history of a significant but underappreciated idea: that the Earth has a global climate system made up of interconnected parts, constantly changing on all scales of both time and space. A prerequisite for the discovery of global warming and climate change, this idea was forged by scientists studying water in its myriad forms. This is their story. Linking the history of the planet with the lives of those who studied it, Sarah Dry follows the remarkable scientists who summited volcanic peaks to peer through an atmosphere’s worth of water vapor, cored mile-thick ice sheets to uncover the Earth’s ancient climate history, and flew inside storm clouds to understand how small changes in energy can produce both massive storms and the general circulation of the Earth’s atmosphere. Each toiled on his or her own corner of the planetary puzzle. Gradually, their cumulative discoveries coalesced into a unified working theory of our planet’s climate. We now call this field climate science, and in recent years it has provoked great passions, anxieties, and warnings. But no less than the object of its study, the science of water and climate is—and always has been—evolving. By revealing the complexity of this history, Waters of the World delivers a better understanding of our planet’s climate at a time when we need it the most.

Book Mysteries and Secrets Revealed

Download or read book Mysteries and Secrets Revealed written by Ph. D Pankratz and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2021-04-01 with total page 481 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mysteries and Secrets Revealed uncovers the reality behind mysteries of nature and secrets of frauds that eluded common understanding. The journey begins in the ancient Greek city of Delphi, where priests claimed the gift of a priceless gold lion was an acknowledgement of their clairvoyant powers. But their concocted story concealed an embarrassing blunder. Those sufficiently savvy to catch the lie became aware of even deeper problems. Author Loren Pankratz then guides us through the conflicts of Renaissance scholars, including Galileo who explained things in ways that enraged philosophers and infuriated priests. Galileo's methods of investigation were perpetuated by the meticulous work of the Academy of Experiment, and Bernard Fontenelle's enthralling dialogue enabled common people to accept life in the rearranged sun-centered universe. Clairvoyants in a mesmeric trance claimed they could visit distant planets and endure brutal surgical procedures. If any of this was real, how was it possible? One nineteenth century mesmeric savant, Alexis Didier, was so convincing that someone claimed no case of clairvoyance could be made for anyone if his accomplishments were not real. This unchallenged declaration is now unraveled here for the first time through information gleaned from uncommon documents and rare antiquarian pamphlets. The surprising manifestations of modern spiritualism quickly escalated into a psychic arms race that included mysterious tipping and turning of tables. Scientist Michael Faraday devised ingenious experiments to show how subtle muscle reactions outside of awareness created these manifestations. On the other hand, explanations for table levitations and mysterious writing on slates could only be solved by individuals with acute observational skills and acquainted with the methods of trickery. Each story in Mysteries and SecretsRevealed captures the tension of conflict, the thrill of discovery, and the strategies of science that unmasked frauds, fakes, false belief, and the enigmas of our natural world.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Life-Changing Verses is a compilation of my personal write-ups about selected verses from the Bible over the past six years. They were published on a weekly basis. This is Volume 2 of a planned four volumes. These are not “soft” devotionals where you can say that you spent time with God. I am frank and candid about the current situation of the average believer. This is based on over thirty-five years of Bible teaching, with the last fourteen years spent in teaching the Bible through seven times to classes. My guiding principle for Life-Changing Verses is to encourage Christians to understand what the Bible says about being a believer. My main objective for each Bible verse selected was to make real and practical application to a believer’s life. I experienced changes in my life while writing many of the Life-Changing Verses. I have a strong opinion that conviction will occur with every believer. To God be the glory.

To step outside these scientific and political debates, Timothy Leduc engages with various Inuit understandings of northern climate change. What he learns is that today’s climate changes are not only affecting our environments, but also our cultures. By focusing on the changes currently occurring in the north, he highlights the challenges being posed to Western climate research, Canadian politics and traditional Inuit knowledge. Climate, Culture, Change sheds light on the cultural challenges posed by northern warming and proposes an intercultural response that is demonstrated by the blending of Inuit and Western perspectives.
