Book The Musings of a Crazy Old Fart

Download or read book The Musings of a Crazy Old Fart written by Jim Rother and published by Archway Publishing. This book was released on 2024-01-12 with total page 416 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: After coming out as gay, Jason feels compelled to leave his home in Tennessee. Hoping to create a new life in Oregon, he takes a job as a companion/housekeeper/caregiver to an elderly man named Thomas. It turns out that Thomas has been expecting him and, with just a few weeks left to live, he tells Jason they are to share with the world a very different story of creation. With the love of his deceased wife ever in his mind and the promptings of his “guide,” Karl, Thomas weaves for Jason a new creation myth filled with love and purpose – a myth that deeply challenges Jason. How do you translate mystical experiences in a language easily understood within our normal reality? How does the weirdness of quantum mechanics fit into a cause-and-effect world? Those questions have challenged the greatest teachers and the everyday seeker of the truth. They challenge Thomas as well. No one can contain the infinite and put it into finite words. Yet there are steps that can be taken to invite the infinite into our experience, for it is only through direct experience that we can begin to grasp the true nature of our being.

Book excerpt: Women hold the key for the solution to success in our Roman Catholic Church. This key has been hidden! Rise Catholic Women will not only tell you why, but how women can unlock the secrets that have been hidden from them, and expose the unnecessary control of men in decision making in the church. This informative book provides mostly unknown facts about the reasons priests are not allowed to marry. It answers questions that our pastors have been encouraged not to discuss. Sarah Harding shows us that even though statistics show the Catholic church is doing well in the United States, the influx of the Latino communities in our Church has covered up the fact that the non- Latino Catholic population has diminished. The shortage of priests has affected the salvation of souls to a large degree. Women need to rise and face the challenge to be heard. We need all our priests, not just those who have courageously endured celibacy, but the other one third who have left the Church to marry. There are twenty-thousand priests in the United States alone who have left the Church to marry. These priests could be called back to shepherd our churches. You hold the key to unlock the door for them to help save our Roman Catholic Church in America. Note from the author: I am extremely grateful for the professional help given to me by my daughter and granddaughter, Mary Alice Loucks and Nicole McMahon.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I moved into a nursing home after my sister, Martha had died. I was living alone. I have FSH muscular dystrophy that isn't fatal. The disability itself requires a live in a care giver, whom I could not afford. The other residents enjoy reading my poems so I decided to write more and make them into a book. I believe there is a "book" in each of us. We all have life stories to tell, but residents of nursing homes seem to be forgotten numbers in our society. We all need love, company and laughter in our lives. This is a place to live and be cared for. While I am glad to have a home, improvement is needed in its image. If my poems can have help improve this image, then I will have succeeded.

When life is moving at full title, there's not always time to reflect on those everyday occurrences. Retirement allows us the time and presence of mind to sit down and take stock. That's just what the writers in Memories & Musings did. Written by "vintage" Minnesotans from The Guided Autobiography and poetry classes at Whitney Senior Center, their stories and poems are a collection of life's journey and the many paths taken. Inside, you'll find writing submissions that explore: Paths into creative writing Trails and tracks in nature Pathways of family members Passages through life's journey This anthology will make you think, laugh, and cry at the peculiar human condition we all find ourselves living. So, pour a mug of tea or coffee—maybe settle in with a glass of wine—and savor the diverse flavors of each writer's journey.

Book excerpt: The final novel in the First Law Trilogy by New York Times bestseller Joe Abercrombie. Logen Ninefingers might only have one more fight in him -- but it's going to be a big one. Battle rages across the North, the king of the Northmen still stands firm, and there's only one man who can stop him. His oldest friend, and his oldest enemy: it's time for the Bloody-Nine to come home. With too many masters and too little time, Superior Glokta is fighting a different kind of war. A secret struggle in which no one is safe, and no one can be trusted. As his days with a sword are far behind him, it's fortunate that he's deadly with his remaining weapons: blackmail, threats, and torture. Jezal dan Luthar has decided that winning glory is too painful an undertaking and turned his back on soldiering for a simple life with the woman he loves. But love can be painful too -- and glory has a nasty habit of creeping up on a man when he least expects it. The king of the Union lies on his deathbed, the peasants revolt, and the nobles scramble to steal his crown. No one believes that the shadow of war is about to fall across the heart of the Union. Only the First of the Magi can save the world, but there are risks. There is no risk more terrible, than to break the First Law. . .

Book Nursery Rhymes for Old Farts

Download or read book Nursery Rhymes for Old Farts written by CAM Harlan and published by . This book was released on 2004-12 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hard Cover Version with dust jacket: A short collection of rhymes pertaining to the early years of people now over 60 years of age. Grandparents were really old and lost parents were not old enough, but old farts and bags are not old. We have just been around for a long time. In our many rich memories and accumulation of years there is a comfort that young people cannot fathom. This book is about those memories; but, more, it is about the comfort. It is about spelling, and singing, and in heads and hearts, and in learning to kipple, and in world's records, and in firsts, and in horses and reindeer, and in mankind, and in love. It is not about what most see in those words and phrases, but what may be in them when relished with the comfort of age. So much comfort, we can kid each other about being old farts and bags. Lost in Thought Quick as a wink, I stopped to think . . . ! You must be over 60 years of age to purchase this book; or you must cross your heart and promise to give it to someone over 60. ........ Reminisce with an old fart!
