Book Modern Rifle Shooting

Download or read book Modern Rifle Shooting written by Walter Guy Hudson and published by . This book was released on 2015-08-04 with total page 170 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Modern Rifle Shooting: From the American Standpoint It is not without some misgiving that I venture on this, my first attempt to write a book on rifle shooting. Indeed, the idea would probably never have occurred to me had I not been asked by many brother riflemen to put into writing the numerous small matters I have at various times investigated, both for their interest and my own. Undoubtedly, much will be found in these pages that is ancient history to more experienced shooters, but if I have succeeded in making clear the first principles of rifle shooting to the beginner, I shall be well satisfied. Perhaps the experienced rifleman may find a few helpful hints, too, in some of the original devices described, and in. the chapter on "the Rifleman Himself." I have also to acknowledge the generous help received in the way of suggestions from brother riflemen, and from reading various recent English works on the subject of rifle shooting-notably those of Tip-pins and Freemantle. If the reflection of my study of these works shows itself in some of the thoughts expressed in the following pages, I can only say that I am not ashamed to freely acknowledge the source from which a great deal of useful information has been derived. Our English cousins have had at least five years more experience than we in the matter of high power rifles and ammunition, and a study of their methods cannot fail to benefit us.
