Book Macro and Micro Dynamics for Empowering Trade Industry and Society

Download or read book Macro and Micro Dynamics for Empowering Trade Industry and Society written by Deepak Srivastava and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 10 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the history of global economic growth and development, the year 2008 had set the pace of recession and almost all countries of the world and enterprises were struggling to come out of the grips of recession. The question of their survival rested on meeting a variety of challenges; grab the new opportunities and formulate various suitable strategies. This had set the beginning of an era, towards the path of global recession to global recovery. The signs of some recovery modes though hazy, were visible during beginning of this decade. However, the journey was full of volatility and the entire period, until now, has indeed been exploring the ways for a sustainable recovery amidst the uncertainties of the transitional phase. Thus, the focus on sustainability under the uncertainties has been the cynosure of all - the policy makers, academicians, research scholars, industrialists or the entrepreneurs.Although, India was least affected with recession when compared to most of the developed world and presently has been witnessing a reasonably higher growth rate of 7-7.5%, it needs to meet many challenges and encash opportunities when the global economy in general is still moving under uncertainties i.e. experiencing transition from sluggish economy to growing economy. The present scenario thus, has thrown unique opportunities and challenges for the trade, industry, environment and the society as a whole necessitating to come out with a new eco-system and reforms to stimulate country's growth and development in consistence with the themes of 'Make in India', 'Green India', 'Skilled India', 'Clean India', 'Digital India' vis-à-vis the steps to ease of doing business in India. In this backdrop, this book, titled as “Macro and Micro Dynamics for Empowering Trade, Industry and Society” has come out with 31 papers, that address the various issues pertaining to global trade, investment, operations, sustainable growth, economic development, human resources and organizational behavior which are in consonance with themes of Make in India and Skilled India.

Book Micro Effects of Macro Announcements

Download or read book Micro Effects of Macro Announcements written by Torben Gustav Andersen and published by . This book was released on 2002 with total page 54 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Using a new dataset consisting of six years of real-time exchange rate quotations, macroeconomic expectations, and macroeconomic realizations (announcements), we characterize the conditional means of U.S. dollar spot exchange rates versus German Mark, British Pound, Japanese Yen, Swiss Franc, and the Euro. In particular, we find that announcement surprises (that is, divergences between expectations and realizations, or 'news') produce conditional mean jumps; hence high-frequency exchange rate dynamics are linked to fundamentals. The details of the linkage are intriguing and include announcement timing and sign effects. The sign effect refers to the fact that the market reacts to news in an asymmetric fashion: bad news has greater impact than good news, which we relate to recent theoretical work on information processing and price discovery.

Book Aggregation and the Microfoundations of Dynamic Macroeconomics

Download or read book Aggregation and the Microfoundations of Dynamic Macroeconomics written by Mario Forni and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 1997 with total page 264 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Through careful methodological analysis, this book argues that modern macroeconomics has completely overlooked the aggregate nature of the data. In Part I, the authors test and reject the homogeneity assumption using disaggregate data. In Part II, they demonstrate that apart from random flukes, cointegration unidirectional Granger causality and restrictions on parameters do not survive aggregation when heterogeneity is introduced. They conclude that the claim that modern macroeconomics has solid microfoundations is unwarranted. However, some important theory-based models that do not fit aggregate data well in their representative-agent version can be reconciled with aggregate data by introducing heterogeneity.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Contemporary policy making is deeply influenced by the borrowing, transfer and diffusion of ideas and models from other countries, levels of government and supranational institutions. This is the first book to analyze comparatively the micro-dynamics of transfer across regions, contrasting policy fields, multiple levels of governance, and institutional actors. Grounded in original research by specialists in the field, it provides fresh and arresting insights into competition among transfer agents, resistances, local coalitions, translation, and policy learning. This empirical depth informs a reinvigorated and nuanced theoretical framework on global policy transfer processes.

Book Asymmetric Information and Macroeconomic Dynamics

Download or read book Asymmetric Information and Macroeconomic Dynamics written by Raymond J. Hawkins and published by . This book was released on 2011 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We show how macroeconomic dynamics can be derived from asymmetric information. As an illustration of the utility of this approach we derive the equilibrium density, non-equilibrium densities and the equation of motion for the response to a demand shock for productivity in a simple economy. Novel consequences of this approach include a natural incorporation of time dependence into macroeconomics and a common information theoretic basis for economics and other fields seeking to link micro-dynamics and macro-observables.

Book Micro Meso and Macro Dynamics of the Brain

Download or read book Micro Meso and Macro Dynamics of the Brain written by György Buzsáki and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-05-02 with total page 181 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book brings together leading investigators who represent various aspects of brain dynamics with the goal of presenting state-of-the-art current progress and address future developments. The individual chapters cover several fascinating facets of contemporary neuroscience from elementary computation of neurons, mesoscopic network oscillations, internally generated assembly sequences in the service of cognition, large-scale neuronal interactions within and across systems, the impact of sleep on cognition, memory, motor-sensory integration, spatial navigation, large-scale computation and consciousness. Each of these topics require appropriate levels of analyses with sufficiently high temporal and spatial resolution of neuronal activity in both local and global networks, supplemented by models and theories to explain how different levels of brain dynamics interact with each other and how the failure of such interactions results in neurologic and mental disease. While such complex questions cannot be answered exhaustively by a dozen or so chapters, this volume offers a nice synthesis of current thinking and work-in-progress on micro-, meso- and macro- dynamics of the brain.

Book Macro and Micro Dynamics of Productivity

Download or read book Macro and Micro Dynamics of Productivity written by Lucia S. Foster and published by . This book was released on 2017 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Researchers use a variety of methods to estimate total factor productivity (TFP) at the firm level and, while these may seem broadly equivalent, how the resulting measures relate to the TFP concept in theoretical models depends on the assumptions about the environment in which firms operate. Interpreting these measures and drawing insights based upon their characteristics thus must take into account these conceptual differences. Absent data on prices and quantities, most methods yield ``revenue productivity" measures. We focus on two broad classes of revenue productivity measures in our examination of the relationship between measured and conceptual TFP (TFPQ). The first measure has been increasingly used as a measure of idiosyncratic distortions and to assess the degree of misallocation. The second measure is, under standard assumptions, a function of fundamentals (e.g., TFPQ). Using plant-level U.S. manufacturing data, we find these alternative measures are (i) highly correlated; (ii) exhibit similar dispersion; and (iii) have similar relationships with growth and survival. These findings raise questions about interpreting the first measure as a measure of idiosyncratic distortions. We also explore the sensitivity of estimates of the contribution of reallocation to aggregate productivity growth to these alternative approaches. We use recently developed structural decompositions of aggregate productivity growth that depend critically on estimates of output versus revenue elasticities. We find alternative approaches all yield a significant contribution of reallocation to productivity growth (although the quantitative contribution varies across approaches).

Book Advanced Macroeconomics

Download or read book Advanced Macroeconomics written by Filipe R. Campante and published by LSE Press. This book was released on 2021-10-11 with total page 420 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Macroeconomic policy is one of the most important policy domains, and the tools of macroeconomics are among the most valuable for policy makers. Yet there has been, up to now, a wide gulf between the level at which macroeconomics is taught at the undergraduate level and the level at which it is practiced. At the same time, doctoral-level textbooks are usually not targeted at a policy audience, making advanced macroeconomics less accessible to current and aspiring practitioners. This book, born out of the Masters course the authors taught for many years at the Harvard Kennedy School, fills this gap. It introduces the tools of dynamic optimization in the context of economic growth, and then applies them to a wide range of policy questions – ranging from pensions, consumption, investment and finance, to the most recent developments in fiscal and monetary policy. It does so with the requisite rigor, but also with a light touch, and an unyielding focus on their application to policy-making, as befits the authors’ own practical experience. Advanced Macroeconomics: An Easy Guide is bound to become a great resource for graduate and advanced undergraduate students, and practitioners alike.

Book Developing Holistic Strategic Management In The Advanced Ict Era

Download or read book Developing Holistic Strategic Management In The Advanced Ict Era written by Kodama Mitsuru and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2019-09-19 with total page 536 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the lens of holistic systems theory, this book discusses strategic management adapted to evolving convergence in an era of advanced ICT from the viewpoint of the major management elements of strategy, organizations, technologies, operations and leadership. To discuss corporate change in response to such advanced technology in a theoretical and empirical manner, it is necessary not only to analyze and consider individual management elements such as strategy, organizations, technologies, operations and leadership in a piece-meal manner but also to determine the research issues from a framework based on a holistic management perspective through systems theory including interaction between and among the respective individual management elements (from micro to macro elements).Applying both innovation theory and capabilities theory, this book presents a new framework and knowledge for holistic strategic management from a systems theory lens that focuses on the issue of how major corporations can develop capabilities to achieve strategic innovation in response to the impacts of advanced ICT on corporate management.

Book Economic Dynamics in Discrete Time

Download or read book Economic Dynamics in Discrete Time written by Jianjun Miao and published by MIT Press. This book was released on 2014-09-19 with total page 737 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A unified, comprehensive, and up-to-date introduction to the analytical and numerical tools for solving dynamic economic problems. This book offers a unified, comprehensive, and up-to-date treatment of analytical and numerical tools for solving dynamic economic problems. The focus is on introducing recursive methods—an important part of every economist's set of tools—and readers will learn to apply recursive methods to a variety of dynamic economic problems. The book is notable for its combination of theoretical foundations and numerical methods. Each topic is first described in theoretical terms, with explicit definitions and rigorous proofs; numerical methods and computer codes to implement these methods follow. Drawing on the latest research, the book covers such cutting-edge topics as asset price bubbles, recursive utility, robust control, policy analysis in dynamic New Keynesian models with the zero lower bound on interest rates, and Bayesian estimation of dynamic stochastic general equilibrium (DSGE) models. The book first introduces the theory of dynamical systems and numerical methods for solving dynamical systems, and then discusses the theory and applications of dynamic optimization. The book goes on to treat equilibrium analysis, covering a variety of core macroeconomic models, and such additional topics as recursive utility (increasingly used in finance and macroeconomics), dynamic games, and recursive contracts. The book introduces Dynare, a widely used software platform for handling a range of economic models; readers will learn to use Dynare for numerically solving DSGE models and performing Bayesian estimation of DSGE models. Mathematical appendixes present all the necessary mathematical concepts and results. Matlab codes used to solve examples are indexed and downloadable from the book's website. A solutions manual for students is available for sale from the MIT Press; a downloadable instructor's manual is available to qualified instructors.
