This book was released on with total page 762 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Message of the Upanishads is a study, verse by verse, of three of the principal Upanishads, namely, Isha, Kena and Katha, in the light of modern thought and modern needs. Though constituting a small portion of the total Upanishadic literature, they yet contain a lucid exposition of all the essential ideas of this immortal literature. The spiritual insights of the Upanishads are an exception to the tyranny of time. Subsequent scientific advances have not only affected their truth-value but have, on the contrary, only helped to reveal the rational basis of their insights and enhanced their spiritual appeal. This is no wonder, because these insights are the products of an equally scientific investigation into a different field of experience, namely, the world of man’s inner life. Published by Advaita Ashrama, a publication house of Ramakrishna Math, Belur Math.

Book excerpt: The Upanishads, the earliest of which were composed in Sanskrit between 800 and 400 bce by sages and poets, form part of the Vedas - the sacred and ancient scriptures that are the basis of the Hindu religion. Each Upanishad, or lesson, takes up a theme ranging from the attainment of spiritual bliss to karma and rebirth, and collectively they are meditations on life, death and immortality. Book Universal Message of the Bhagavad Gita

This book was released on 2000 with total page 1424 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Among the several modern commentaries on the Gita, this one is unique in the sense it is both down to earth and fascinatingly erudite. In explaining every verse, the author, the 13th President of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, relates its real connotation and significance to not only what Shankaracharya said in his introduction to the Gita, or how Sri Ramakrishna and Swami Vivekananda interpreted it in terms of practical Vedanta, but also how it conforms to the thinking of some of the greatest Greek philosophers like Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle. The author also takes the readers on an enlightening voyage of discovery, where they meet Buddha, Mahavir, Tao, Christ and most of the thinkers in the West and he relates their thought by an ingenious interaction with the message of Sri Krishna. Even scientists like Einstein, famous neurologists like Charles Sherrington and poets like Wordsworth and Shelley and philosophers like Julian Huxley and Bertrand Russell are brought in by the author to give the readers an in-depth understanding of this great scripture. The author weaves every verse into the requirements of modern life and throws light on how man should lead his life while involved in his daily chores and fulfil his duties in accordance with the philosophy of action as taught by Sri Krishna. The book contains the Sanskrit slokas in Devanagari script, their English transliteration, simple meaning in English followed by explanation in English.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the 2nd Part of the Series 'I Am Consciousness"We highly recommend that you read the 1st part before commencing this one.If you are seeking God or your true Self, then you must have already heard the cliche sayings such as, "You are the Universe", "You are not a drop in the ocean, you are the ocean in a drop", We are all One" etc. But mostly when asked to show or explain these sayings without blind faith becomes almost impossible. This part deals with the understanding that you are One with the Universe. The examples, practical situations and wisdom of the Upanishads are presented in very simple and easy to understand words, woven into an interesting story. Part 1 of the series, (See God With Open Eyes), explains what the Supreme Being is and how to see it everywhere, every time and in everything. By the end of this little book, you, the reader, will without a doubt, know that you are One with the Universe and that the Supreme Being is nothing but your true identity, which is Brahman. The Upanishads message is very clear and precise. It doesn't ask the seeker to have blind faith or believe in anything without logically explaining it. Vedanta is always true 'here and now' which means that any message of the Upanishads can be put to the test 'here and now' to experience it for yourself. This series is put in an interesting story format for easier understanding. Join David (From Part One) as he finally arrives at the Himalayan Village and meets Swamiji who, in a loving and passionate way through practical examples, clear logic and reasoning shows him and the others who have arrived that same day how each and every one of us is one with the Supreme Being - Brahman. He answers David's questions beyond doubt and firmly establishes the great saying from the Vedas, "Aham Brahma Asmi" which means, "I Am Brahman."

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Bagavad Gita is a conversation between Lord Krishna and the Pandava prince Arjuna taking place on the battlefield before the start of the Kurukshetra War. Responding to Arjuna's confusion and moral dilemma about fighting his own cousins, Lord Krishna explains to Arjuna his duties as a warrior and prince, and elaborates on different Yogic and Vedantic philosophies, with examples and analogies. This has led to the Gita often being described as a concise guide to Hindu theology and also as a practical, self-contained guide to life. During the discourse, Lord Krishna reveals His identity as the Supreme Being Himself (Svayam Bhagavan), blessing Arjuna with an awe-inspiring vision of His divine universal form. Two words that are of paramount importance in grasping the Upanishads are Brahman and Atman. The Brahman is the universal spirit and the Atman is the individual Self. Differing opinions exist amongst scholars regarding the etymology of these words. Brahman comes from the root brh which means "The Biggest The Greatest The ALL." Brahman is "the infinite Spirit Source and fabric and core and destiny of all existence, both manifested and unmanifested and the formless infinite substratum and from whom the universe has grown." Brahman is the ultimate, both transcendent and immanent, the absolute infinite existence, the sum total of all that ever is, was, or shall be. The word Atman means the immortal perfect Spirit of any living creature, being, including trees etc. The idea put forth by the Upanishadic seers that Atman and Brahman are One and the same is one of the greatest contributions made to the thought of the world. The Rigveda is an ancient Indian sacred collection of Vedic Sanskrit hymns. It is counted among the four canonical sacred texts of Hinduism known as the Vedas. Some of its verses are still recited as Hindu prayers, at religious functions and other occasions, putting these among the world's oldest religious texts in continued use. The Rigveda contains several mythological and poetical accounts of the origin of the world, hymns praising the gods, and ancient prayers for life, prosperity, etc.
