Book Successful Educational Actions for Inclusion and Social Cohesion in Europe

Download or read book Successful Educational Actions for Inclusion and Social Cohesion in Europe written by Ramon Flecha (Ed.) and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-11-14 with total page 115 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph analyses and describes successful educational actions with a specific focus on vulnerable groups (i.e. youth, migrants, cultural groups e.g. Roma, women, and people with disabilities). Concrete data that shows success in school performance in subject matters such as math or language will be provided, as well as children, teachers and families accounts of the impact of this success. Alongside, there is an analysis of the relationship between these children’s educational performance with their inclusion or exclusion from different areas of society (i.e. housing, health, employment, and social and political participation). Many studies have already diagnosed and described the causes of educational and social exclusion of these vulnerable groups. This monograph, however, provides solutions, that is, actions for success identified through the INCLUD-ED project, thus providing both, contrasted data and solid theoretical background and development. Some examples of these actions are interactive groups (or heterogeneous grouping in the classroom with reorganisation of human resources), extension of the learning time, homework clubs, tutored libraries, family and community educative participation, family education, or dialogic literary gatherings. All these actions have been defined as successful educational actions, which mean that they lead to both efficiency and equity. Finally, recommendations for policy and practice are included and discussed.

Book Collecting Web Based Attitude Measures in Schools

Download or read book Collecting Web Based Attitude Measures in Schools written by Cameron and published by . This book was released on 2017 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This case study describes methods and rationales for measuring attitudes toward physical education in high school students. Due to the nature of physical education experiences in schools, there may be both consciously considered (explicit) and less conscious (implicit) forces on attitudes. A full understanding of attitudes toward physical education may include scores from both explicit and implicit measures. The Single Category Implicit Association Test and the Go/No-go Association Test were used with vetted photographs of physical education classes to create two instruments and elicited automatic attitude responses. A measure of students explicit attitudes was also utilized. Extensive pilot testing on both data collection and data analyses led to a more effective research experience. Data collection occurred with participants (N = 434) in schools computer/media labs during physical education classes within a 3-week window. Cooperative teachers, using a provided script for procedures, were an integral part of collecting data. Data collection, management, and analysis through various web-based software programs were critical to completing this research.

Download or read book Senior High School Attitudes Towards Research written by Bryan M. Gallos and published by . This book was released on 2021-02-11 with total page 90 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The study utilized the Attitude towards Research Scale formulated by Elena T. Papanastasiou in 2005 to further investigate the attitudes of students towards research. Two hundred twenty-two (222) senior high school students from Holy Child Catholic School, school year 2017 - 2018 who had already and currently taken Practical Research Subjects prescribed by the Department of Education for the K-12 program participated in the study. Descriptive survey and correlational research method was employed to provide better grasp of students' attitude towards research. Responses were analyzed through the use of Cronbach's Alpha for internal consistency, mean for statistical descriptions, Pearson correlation coefficient and factorial MANOVA using IBM-SPSS. As the five subscales moderately affect one another, gender and grade level showed no significant difference among SHS student of HCCS. Strands of academic track tends to have an impact on the difference of attitude of SHS students towards research. The study concluded that there is a need to investigate the interest and attitude of students towards research.

Book The Measurement of High School Students Attitudes Toward Recruiting Incentives

Download or read book The Measurement of High School Students Attitudes Toward Recruiting Incentives written by Robert L. Kaplan and published by . This book was released on 1983 with total page 174 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A two-phased survey using the MAGNES technique was conducted to measure the attitudes of American youth with respect to an array of possible US Army recruiting incentives. The primary focus of the survey was on Phase II, the attitudes of high school seniors and juniors. Phase I, a preliminary exercise, concentrated on individuals who had recently enlisted but had yet to enter the service, referred to as 'contracts'; and those who were being contacted by recruiters as a matter of routine, a group referred to as 'contracts'. Respondents were selected by the 'cluster' approach in sampling using distributed recruiting stations (by recruiting districts) and high schools (by Census Divisions). Respondents with the highest mental aptitude consistently weighted post-high school, post-service financial education assistance as the most desirable incentive. Those with lower mental aptitudes appeared to be more influenced by the size of the enlistment bonuses. All respondents including those with the highest mental aptitudes displayed considerable interest in items related to personal economic security. Work experience in a job skill that would be useful in civilian life also was rated relatively high by all mental categories. A comparison of results between Phases I and II disclosed considerable agreement; however, the former appeared to be biased by the greater number of lower mental aptitude respondents.
