Book The Master Traveler

Download or read book The Master Traveler written by Derek Bailey and published by Page Publishing Inc. This book was released on 2022-04-15 with total page 185 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ema Moreau is a teenage girl who does not have much but might just lose the most important thing she has left—her younger sister, Silver. Silver is sick and getting worse each day, but luckily, she is the next on a list to receive a miraculous cure from a flower that can be used to treat any ailment. Unfortunately, soldiers from the kingdom have come and claimed that they will be retrieving the flower used to make the medicine for the king. In desperation, Ema takes the chance to make it to the flower first. Others from the village, who were originally planning to help make the medicine for Silver, now can see the chance to use the flower for their own purposes instead. While traveling, Ema is tracked down by a mysterious boy named Rainald. He is clever and sneaky, and he seems to know a lot about her. Though wanting the miracle flower for himself, Rainald proposes that working together will increase the odds that one of them will end up with the flower. Though Ema does not like the proposition, she has no other choice but to agree. As the two travel and escape dangerous circumstances, they even begin to become friends, something that Ema does not know much about either. As they become close, Rainald remains very protective of his plans, identity, and even information on Ema’s own tragic past. Has she finally found someone who is willing to help her? Or should she be vigilant to the threat that Rainald really is just keeping her around as long as it benefits him? Nothing is certain, except that Ema is not going to be the same person at the end of this journey as when she began.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1953, twenty-four-year old Nicolas Bouvier and his artist friend Thierry Vernet set out to make their way overland from their native Geneva to the Khyber Pass. They had a rattletrap Fiat and a little money, but above all they were equipped with the certainty that by hook or by crook they would reach their destination, and that there would be unanticipated adventures, curious companionship, and sudden illumination along the way. The Way of the World, which Bouvier fashioned over the course of many years from his journals, is an entrancing story of adventure, an extraordinary work of art, and a voyage of self-discovery on the order of Robert M. Pirsig’s Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. As Bouvier writes, “You think you are making a trip, but soon it is making—or unmaking—you.”

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Have you ever struggled with packing for a trip? You can't decide what you'll need, so you pack for every scenario and take far too much. You struggle to fit everything in your bag, you get stressed lugging it around, and you pay a fortune in airline luggage fees. The Carry-On Traveller will teach you not only how to lighten your load, but how to pack everything you need into a single carry-on-size bag. You can apply these strategies to any trip, whether you are travelling for a week or a year, to hot or cold climates, alone or with kids. By travelling carry-on only, you'll save time at airports, avoid wasting money on checked luggage fees (which are increasingly common), and reduce the stress of hauling bulky bags. It's not an all or nothing approach. Packing light is a learning process, and you might want to take it gradually. Even if you don't travel carry-on only on your next trip, this book will help you pack lighter.

Your place may be with the wielders of Iro... or perhaps as a Traveler... it could be that your destiny lies on a ship flying through the stars... or straining your skills on a battlefield... maybe you're most suited to hours spent pouring over ancient tomes... or engaged in a game of chess that will shape the cosmos. Whatever your place - wherever your destination - you will find yourself... Beyond the Outer Rim In 'Star Chaser: The Traveler', the prelude to the series, we meet Z’GUNOK TEL DUNGIAS, a Malgovi born without the ability to channel IRO, an ability inherent in the vast majority of his race. As a member of a high-ranking family, he lived a life in-between... not truly an outcast, but never fully embraced. Often discounted and forgotten, Dungias was left to grow and learn primarily on his own. Yet the advantages of his family's name did not entirely protect him against those who considered him anathema. Through strength, daring, and unexpected cunning, Dungias created himself out of nothing - and worked toward the day when he could make changes... Little did he know just how far-reaching those changes would be! “A venturesome sci-fi/fantasy novel for readers who really want their action set where no man has gone before.” - Kirkus Reviews

Book The Time Traveler s Guide to Regency Britain

Download or read book The Time Traveler s Guide to Regency Britain written by Ian Mortimer and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2022-04-05 with total page 448 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A vivid and immersive history of Georgian England that gives its reader a firsthand experience of life as it was truly lived during the era of Jane Austen, Percy Bysshe Shelley, and the Duke of Wellington. This is the age of Jane Austen and the Romantic poets; the paintings of John Constable and the gardens of Humphry Repton; the sartorial elegance of Beau Brummell and the poetic licence of Lord Byron; Britain's military triumphs at Trafalgar and Waterloo; the threat of revolution and the Peterloo massacre. In the latest volume of his celebrated series of Time Traveler's Guides, Ian Mortimer turns to what is arguably the most-loved period in British history: the Regency, or Georgian England. A time of exuberance, thrills, frills and unchecked bad behavior, it was perhaps the last age of true freedom before the arrival of the stifling world of Victorian morality. At the same time, it was a period of transition that reflected unprecedented social, economic, and political change. And like all periods in history, it was an age of many contradictions—where Beethoven's thundering Fifth Symphony could premier in the same year that saw Jane Austen craft the delicate sensitivities of Persuasion. Once more, Ian Mortimer takes us on a thrilling journey to the past, revealing what people ate, drank, and wore; where they shopped and how they amused themselves; what they believed in, and what they were afraid of. Conveying the sights, sound,s and smells of the Regency period, this is history at its most exciting, physical, visceral—the past not as something to be studied but as lived experience.
