Book The Massachusetts General Hospital Approach to Transcatheter Arterialization of the Deep Veins for Advanced Limb Salvage

Download or read book The Massachusetts General Hospital Approach to Transcatheter Arterialization of the Deep Veins for Advanced Limb Salvage written by Anahita Dua and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-12-28 with total page 136 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents an in-depth guide to transcatheter arterialization of the deep veins (TADV). TADV or deep venous arterialization (DVA) is an emerging technological and clinical solution for patients with peripheral artery disease who have no options for limb salvage based on conventional vascular techniques. It serves to salvage limbs in patients who would otherwise be amputated. For TADV to be successful in preventing amputation patient selection, pre-procedure imaging, technical expertise, and post-operative wound management must be optimized. The book takes a step-by-step approach to TADV to guide the clinical team through the patient journey from meeting a potential candidate for TADV through to saving the leg. Chapters provide a reference for patient selection, procedural steps, and post-operative wound care management. This is an ideal guide for vascular surgeons, interventional radiologists, interventional cardiologists, trainees, and all medical professionals caring for patients with severe peripheral artery disease potentially facing amputation.

Book Understanding Complexity in Organizations

Download or read book Understanding Complexity in Organizations written by Timothy Ludwig and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2015-02-11 with total page 263 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Organizations are complex entities that must adapt the practices of their employees and management to meet the demands of a dynamic environment. Organizations are behavioral systems that coordinate interactions among its members and environment. Changing practices in one area of an organization can generate a reaction throughout the entire system, thus affecting the behaviors of those working within other areas, the experience of customers, and important organizational results. Behavioral Systems Analysis (BSA) focuses on these complex contingencies from the macro system all the way down to individual behavior. This book contains articles by internationally recognized experts in Behavioral Systems Analysis who discuss the role of organizational practices in their study of performance improvement and cultural change from both practical and conceptual perspectives. Business and non-profit managers will find tools and case studies to help understand and diagnose their organization’s dynamics. Scholars will appreciate articles’ theory and real-world descriptions when considering their own research direction. Finally, all students of management theory, behavior analysis, and human resources will find this collection a thought-provoking tool for their understanding of behavioral systems and their application in organizations. This book was published as a special issue in the Journal of Organizational Behavior Management.

Book Judicial Reform and Reorganization in 20th Century Iran

Download or read book Judicial Reform and Reorganization in 20th Century Iran written by Majid Mohammadi and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-05-13 with total page 391 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Iran is now at the center of political and social developments in the Middle East. This book examines the reform of the judicial system in 20th century Iran and is the first to relate state-building process with rule of law promotion and judicial reform in the region. This subject occupies the critical juncture of three developments in the contemporary study of Iranian society as an important and early case of social revolution and reform in the Middle East: the state-building process in a non-Western country throughout the 20th century, the incorporation of a non-Western Muslim country into the Western legal framework through codification and transplantation (1911-1979), and the Islamicization process after this critical social development and the Islamic Revolution of 1979. This exceptional study furthers our understanding of Iranian modern history as well as the democratization process, human rights and rule of law issues in the Middle East.

This book was released on 2020-02-25 with total page 249 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Forced migration has yet to be sufficiently addressed from the perspective of health policy and systems research, resulting in limited knowledge on system‐level interventions and policies to improve the health of forced migrants. The contributions within this edited volume seek to rectify this gap in the literature by compiling the existing knowledge on health systems and health policy responses to forced migration with a focus on asylum seekers, refugees, and internally displaced people. It also brings together the work of research communities from the fields of political science, epidemiology, health sciences, economics, psychology, and sociology to push the knowledge frontier of health research in the area of forced migration towards health policy and systems-level interventions, while also framing potential routes for further research in this area. Among the analyses within the chapters: The political economy of health and forced migration in Europe Innovative humanitarian health financing for refugees Understanding the resilience of health systems Health security in the context of forced migration Discrimination as a health systems response to forced migration Health Policy and Systems Responses to Forced Migration offers unique and interdisciplinary theoretical, empirical, and literature-based perspectives that apply a health policy and systems approach to health and healthcare challenges among forced migrants. It will find an engaged audience among policy makers and analysts, international organizations, scholars in academia, think tanks, and students in undergraduate programs or at the graduate level, for policy, practice, and educational purposes.

Download or read book Penile Disorders written by Hartmut Porst and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 261 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains a compilation of papers based on pres entations made at the International Symposium on Penile Disorders held in Hamburg, Germany, 26-27 January 1996, under the Chairmanship of Hartmut Porst. This was a unique conference in that it comprehensively addressed various disorders that affect the organ situated at the "center of the male", the penis. As an important beginning, the sociocultural aspects of the erect phallus were presented by G. Wagner from Copen hagen. The anatomy of the penis and the physiological con ditions of erection were then discussed by K. -P. J Unemann from Mannheim, Germany. Previous conferences on the penis had concentrated only on specific areas of disease such as impotence. However, it became readily apparent that at this conference something new for almost every as pect of disease would be discussed, including congenital disorders such as hypospadias and epispadias, sexually transmitted and noninfectious dermatological diseases, and congenital and acquired penile curvatures and penile fractures. An excellent presentation of managing penile cancer by stage related therapeutic decision was presented by S. C. MUller from Bonn, Germany. There is no better per son to present a discussion of Peyronie' s disease in 1996 from a historical and management perspective than J. Pryor from London, UK. This same degree of expertise was also demonstrated by I. Saenz de Tejada from Madrid, Spain, re garding priapism.

Book Imaging in Nephrology

    Book Details:
  • Author : Antonio Granata
  • Publisher : Springer Nature
  • Release : 2021-04-29
  • ISBN : 3030607941
  • Pages : 339 pages

Download or read book Imaging in Nephrology written by Antonio Granata and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-04-29 with total page 339 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a wide-ranging guide to current and emerging applications of ultrasonography within nephrology that aims to provide readers with a sound understanding of the rationale for the use of ultrasound techniques in various disease settings, for example, complications following renal transplantation, arteriovenous fistulas, renal artery stenosis, nonstenotic renal artery pathology, renal vein pathology, aortic disease, and acute renal failure. Particular emphasis is placed on newer applications, such as those involving elastosonography, contrast-enhanced ultrasonography, and color Doppler imaging. There is no doubt that ultrasound techniques can improve the standard of care in nephrology, from vascular access planning to management of uremic complications. Nevertheless, many nephrologists continue to delegate the performance of ultrasonography to radiologists or other colleagues, which is especially regrettable given the advent of affordable, portable ultrasound scanners. This book will be of value for all clinicians interested in the role of ultrasound techniques in nephrology and will be especially useful for nephrologists seeking to incorporate ultrasonography into their practice.
